Specification

This invention relates to a trailing arm with anti-roll bar suspension system for a three wheeler motor vehicle.
The suspension system for three wheeler motor vehicles normally employs the trailing arm type with helical springs to support the body on the wheel assemblies, with hydraulic dampers to dampen oscillations and movement of the body relative to the wheel assemblies. The body tilts and rolls while negotiating a turn on the road causing discomfort to both passenger and driver alike. While stiffer suspensions tend to enhance the safety and stability of the vehicle, but a stiffer suspension transfers more of the shock forces generated during the ride from the suspension to the chassis and deprive the passenger and rider of a comfortable journey.
This invention therefore proposes a trailing apn with anti-roll bar suspension system for a three wheeler which would substantially minimise the aforementioned drawbacks.

The trailing arm with anti-roll bar suspension system for a three wheeler motor vehicle,| according to this invention, comprises a trailing arm having forward portions secured to brackets at first pivotal connections by threaded fasteners; and an anti-roll bar consisting of tubes and reinforcement tubes welded to brackets, in turn welded to the trailing arm.
This invention will now be described with reference to
the accompanying drawings which illustrate by way of
example, and not by way of Iiinitation, one of possible
embodiments of the trailing arm with anti-roll bar
suspension system proposed herein.
Fig. 1 illustrating an isometric view of a three wheeler
with trailing arm suspension and antiroll bar
Fig. 2 is a bottom perspective view of the vehicle
shown in Fig. 1
Fig. 3 is a side perspective view of the vehicle shown
in Fig. I
Fig, 4 is a rear perspective view of the vehicle shown
in Fig. I

Fig. 5 is a perspective view showing the anti roll bar of the embodiment Fig. 6 is a detailed view at the circled portion in Fig. 1
A trailing arm suspension with antiroll bar on a three wheeler vehicle is shown in Figs. 1 to 4. The suspension includes trailing arm 3 having forward
1
portions that are secured to brackets 5 at first pivotal connections by threaded fasteners. The trailing arm is preferably made from thick sheets with high torsional and lateral stiffness, Shock absorber lower mounting bracket 12 antiroll bar bracket 10are welded to the arm.
An I.e. engine may be arranged rearward of the suspension to provide drive to the wheels 13. Coil spring with hydraulic shock absorbers is assembled between the lower shock absorber bracket 12 welded to trailing arm and upper shock absorber 11 welded to
frame 1.
The antiroll bar is shown in Fig. 5. It consists of tubes 8 reinforcement tubes 7 and brackets 9. The tubes

and reinforcement tubes are welded to the brackets. These brackets have slotted holes laterally for ease in assembly with antiroil bar brackets on trailing arm which has circular holes. Fig. i illustrates the antiroil bar arrangement on the vehicle. The antiroil bar is connected to anti-roll bar brackets I welded to the trailing arm through fasteners. The assembly has the advantage of easy serviceability.

We Claim:
1.A trailing arm with anti-roll bar suspension system for a three wheeler motor vehicle comprising a trailing arm having forward portions secured to brackets at first pivotal connections by threaded fasteners; an anti-roll bar consisting of tubes and reinforcement tubes welded to the trailing arm.
2. A trailing arm with anti-roll bar suspension system as claimed in Claim 1 wherein the antiroll bar is connected bv fasteners to anti- roll bar brackets welded to the trailing arm.
3. A trailing arm with anti-roll bar suspension system as claimed in Claim 1 wherein the brackets have slotted holes laterally, with anti-roll bar brackets on trailing arm having circular holes.
4. A trailing arm with anti-roll bar suspension system as claimed in Claim 1 wherein the trailing arm is made

of thick metal sheets with high torsional and lateral stiffness.
5. A trailing arm with anti-roll bat suspension system as claimed in Claim 1 or Claim 2 therein the trailing arm has shock absorber lower mounting bracket and anti roll bar bracket welded to it.
6. A trailing arm with anti-roll bar suspension system for a three wheeler motor vehicle substantially as herein described with reference to, and as illustrated in, the accompanying drawings.
