Specification

[001] The present subject matter described herein, a switch device with an indicator, and more particularly to an improved switch device with an indicator capable of indicating configuration of switch gear device.
BACKGROUND AND PRIOR ART AND PROBLEM IN PRIOR ART:
[002] Background description includes information that may be useful in understanding the present invention. It is not an admission that any of the information provided herein is prior art or relevant to the presently claimed invention, or that any publication specifically or implicitly referenced is prior art.
[003] Switchgear is a kind of electrical equipment. Switchgear is an apparatus which is used for switching, controlling and protecting electrical circuits and equipment. The requirement of electric power has increased a lot, so in order to get a continuous power supply. Power system must be protected from large faults and provide protection to machinery and devices. For the continuity of the power supply machinery such as generators and motors are switched on and off many times and the means provide to achieve this is called switchgear. Component in switchgear mainly has breaker, disconnecting switch, on-load switch, operation machine. Electrical switchgear equipment house very large and heavy circuit breakers that protect loads that can consume thousands of amps of current. The procedure for making or breaking the electrical connections inside the switchgear between the circuit breaker and connectors in the switchgear is operated by complex mechanical arrangements.
[004] Various switchgear apparatuses may be manufactured with various internal control modules that determine whether to switch between power feeds based on various conditions. Such various switchgear apparatuses, as a result, may operate differently in common circumstances, potentially complicating indication of power distribution operations and presenting a risk of unforeseen and undesirable performance of switching operations or other unforeseen hazards caused due to

unable to determine the state of switchgear device, that is whether it is in ON or OFF state.
[005] In prior art, the indication mechanism which are connected to knob mechanism, shows the ON/OFF status of the knob mechanism and not the contact mechanism. Hence, if the contact mechanism fails internally, the indicator still indicates the false indication as it is mechanically connected with the knob. And the three states of operations are indicated by two indicator plate by its sliding movement.
[006] In some prior art, such as patent document US6144002A, the invention is related to mechanical indication in three positions. The indication mechanism consists of 4 arms, hence complex design and less feasibility according to design aspect. The three states are not loaded' position, a "ready to close' position, and a third "loaded and not ready to close' or "loaded disengaged' position, and the indication mechanism is working with respect to the movement of the cam mechanism (knob). That mean, the design fails to show the true indication in case of any failure in contact mechanism as it is mechanically connected with the knob.
[007] Our design proposes an indication mechanism which are connected to contact mechanism, thus indicating ON/OFF status according to the True Contacts. The invention describes an indication based on true contacts and thus, true indication. Moreover, mechanical indication for three states, that is, close "source-1", open and close "source-2" is achieved by single indication arm which is connected with movement of contact mechanism (true indication), hence the present invention offers a robust and simple design.
[008] The information disclosed in this background of the disclosure section is only for enhancement of understanding of the general background of the invention and should not be taken as an acknowledgement or any form of suggestion that this information forms the prior art already known to a person skilled in the art.
[009] These and other objects and advantages of the present subject matter will be apparent to a person skilled in the art after consideration of the following detailed

It should be understood, however, that it is not intended to limit the disclosure to the particular forms disclosed, but on the contrary, the disclosure is to cover all modifications, equivalents, and alternative falling within the scope of the disclosure.
[0026] The terms "comprises", "comprising", or any other variations thereof used in the disclosure, are intended to cover a non-exclusive inclusion, such that a device, system, assembly that comprises a list of components does not include only those components but may include other components not expressly listed or inherent to such system, or assembly, or device. In other words, one or more elements in a system or device proceeded by "comprises... a" does not, without more constraints, preclude the existence of other elements or additional elements in the system or device.

[0027] Referring to figure 1 to 5 of the present invention, describes a two-way indicator for switchgear devices, where three states of operations which is also indicated via a single mechanical indicator, are maintained with their contact operations. The invention describes an indication based on true contacts along with true indication. It describes a two-way indicator for switchgear devices, wherein three stares of operations are indicated via a single mechanical Indicator, are maintained with their contact operations. Indication mechanism are designed such that it gives information of change of state or operation according to the change of its contact mechanism.
[0028] In an embodiment of the present invention, referring to Fig. 1, the operation knob 101 is mounted on a switch gear device in a manner that it protrudes outward of the switch gear when the device is placed on a wall for further operation. The operation knob 101 is accessed by a user to change the position the position of knob preferably in three different positions.
[0029] The three different functional positions of the operational knob are described as rotation in anticlockwise direction, rotation in clockwise direction and a neutral state wherein the knob is aligned in the central position.
[0030] It is understood that the three function positions perform electrically three states that's in anticlockwise and clockwise rotation the circuit closes and thus the flow of electricity whereas in the neutral state the circuit is open and thus no electricity flows.
[0031] In an aspect of the invention the operation knob 101 generates actuation force by means of mechanical connection on a movable contact mechanism (106,206,306) located within the switchgear housing.
[0032] The movable contact mechanism 106 receives an actuating force by the movement of the operation knob 101 in either of the rotational direction depending upon which the contact mechanism controls a manual circuit breaker (107, 207, 307) operationally coupled to it. The movement of contact mechanism leads to devise configuration of the circuit breaker (107, 207, 307) in a first position 200

(refer Fig.2); a second position 300 (refer Fig.3); and a neutral position 100 (refer Fig.l).
[0033] When the operational knob is rotated anticlockwise, referring to Fig.2 depicted as 203, an actuating force pushes the movable contact mechanism 206 in a downward direction. The circuit breaker 207 changes its position to attain a configuration of first position connecting a first source terminal 201 and a load terminal 202 thus closing the circuit.
[0034] In the following example of the contact mechanism movement of the present invention, it is to be understood that the two-way indicator consists of an indication arm (102, 205, 305,401,501) and a guide pin and an indicator. The indication arm is inserted or placed pivotally in a guide pin (204, 304, 402,502). The movement of indication arm mechanically enables the guide pin to rotate the indicator (107, 403) to indicate a state of circuit breaker thus representative of a circuit configuration that whether the circuit is in close or open state.
[0035] The indication arm (102,205,305,401,501) of the two-way indicator extends out like a shaft from the contact mechanism body (106). At the time when the operational knob 203 is rotated anti-clock wise, the control mechanism is pushed downward 206 devising the first position configuration of the circuit breaker 207, the two-way indicator (204 & 205) is also mechanically compelled to move. The indication arm 205 moves downward and the guiding pin 204 rotates the indicator 107 anti-clockwise to indicate a circuit closed state, that is the circuit breaker in first position connecting with the first source terminal 201 and load terminal 202.
[0036] Similarly, when the operational knob 303 is rotated clock wise, the control mechanism is pushed upward 306 devising the second position configuration of the circuit breaker 307, the two-way indicator (304 & 305) is also mechanically compelled to move. The indication arm 305 moves upward and the guiding pin 304 rotates the indicator 107 clockwise to indicate a circuit closed state, that is the circuit breaker in second position connecting with the second source terminal 307 and load terminal 302.

[0037] In figure 4 and 5 an exemplary embodiment of the indication arm (401,501) placed pivotally in a guide pin (402,502) and its movement in either rotational direction is shown. The indicator rotates in response to the indication arm moving upward or downward and thus changes the indicator representation to depict the true state or configuration of the circuit.
[0038] The configuration of the circuit breaker is understood as a first position wherein connecting a first source terminal 201 and a load terminal 202. In another configuration of the circuit breaker as a second position wherein the second terminal 307 and load terminal 302. The third configuration of the circuit is the neutral state wherein the circuit breaker does not get connected with either of the plurality of the source terminal or load terminal and thus the circuit is open. The indication arm 102 and the operation knob 101 remains in a neutral position thus the indication 107 represents an off state.
[0039] In the present invention, a spring mechanism (130) is used to secure the first position or second position of the circuit breaker. A spring-operated mechanism is one driven by the mechanical energy stored in springs. These springs are placed under tension when the circuit breaker is in a said configuration of connecting first or second source terminal and load terminal.
