Specification

TECHNICAL FIELD
[001] The present invention relates to a valve cover gasket. More particularly, the present invention is directed towards a valve cover gasket having wiring harness encapsulated therein.
BACKGROUND
[002] Conventionally, a valve cover gasket seals the valve cover to the top portion of the engine cylinder head. The gasket prevents motor oil from leaking out as it travels around the camshafts, rockers and valves. In addition, many spark plug ports are sealed by the valve cover gasket. In the majority of modern engines, two style of gaskets are prevalent - liquid gaskets and formed rubber gaskets. The choice of gasket will depend on the material used in the construction of the valve cover, and how much pressure the seal might be under.
[003] However, because of the advance in engine technology, many electrical equipments/senors are required to be connected to the engine. Therefore, plurality of wires are required to be accommodated near engine to connect the sensors with respective parts of the engine. However, because of the limited space available between the engine head and the rocker arm cover, there have been many problems in accommodating the wires near the engine.

[004] For instance, new generation engines use lot of electronic/electrical operated components/ sensors for Injectors, Solenoid for brakes etc. and therefore there is need to safely accommodate the corresponding electrical wires/harnesses within the available space. This is a cumbersome process which require additional fittings, several manual operation, and careful handling which not only results into high assembly lead time but also creates chances of error. Also when cover, engine head need to be opened for service/repair purpose above stated issues are faced again.
[005] Therefore, there exists a need for a valve cover gasket which addresses at least the abovementioned problems.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION
[006] The following presents a detailed description of various embodiments of the
present subject matter with reference to the accompanying drawings.
[007] The embodiments of the present subject matter are described in detail with
reference to the accompanying drawings. However, the present subject matter is not
limited to these embodiments which are only provided to explain more clearly the
present subject matter to a person skilled in the art of the present disclosure. In the
accompanying drawings, like reference numerals are used to indicate like
components.
[008] The specification may refer to "an", "one", "different" or "some"
embodiments) in several locations. This does not necessarily imply that each such
reference is to the same embodiments), or that the feature only applies to a single
embodiment. Single features of different embodiments may also be combined to
provide other embodiments.
[009] As used herein, the singular forms "a", "an" and "the" are intended to
include the plural forms as well, unless expressly stated otherwise. It will be further
understood that the terms "includes", "comprises", "including" and/or
"comprising" when used in this specification, specify the presence of stated
features, integers, steps, operations, elements, and/or components, but do not
preclude the presence or addition of one or more other features, integers, steps,

operations, elements, components, and/or groups thereof. It will be understood that when an element is referred to as being "attached" or "connected" or "coupled" or "mounted" to another element, it can be directly attached or connected or coupled to the other element or intervening elements may be present. As used herein, the term "and/or" includes any and all combinations and arrangements of one or more of the associated listed items.
[010] The figures depict a simplified structure only showing some elements and functional entities, all being logical units whose implementation may differ from what is shown.
[Oil] The present invention provides integrated gasket which accommodates/arranges the electrical circuit and wires routings very systematically.
[012] In an embodiment, the invention provides a valve cover gasket 100 comprising a first portion 110 made of a first material, the first portion having an upper surface in contact with a rocker cover and a lower surface in contact with an engine head; and a second portion 120 made of a second material and connected with the first portion, wherein the gasket encapsulates wiring harness for powering injectors and solenoid actuators. The gasket is placed between the valve cover and the engine head and encapsulates wiring harness. Advantageously, the present invention provides integrated gasket which accommodates/arranges the electrical circuit and wires routings very systematically. Further, it ensures clean routing of wiring harness for functioning of injectors and brake function of engine compared

to conventional method and in case of any breakdown the trouble shooting time is
less.
[013] In an embodiment, the 1st material comprising Oil and/or Heat Resistant
Elastomer. The Materials used are Glass filled Nylon Plastic Carrier, specially
formulated Elastomer for ceiling of fluids, Terminal Pins made of suitable electrical
conductive material and wiring harness.
[014] In another embodiment, terminal pins 200 are provided on the gasket for
connection with electric connectors For instance, connectors are part of engine
wiring harness. These connectors will get fitted on the terminal pins (200). The
terminal pins are attached with the wiring harness which finally gets connected with
Injectors and solenoid to actuator braking function of the Vehicle and provide the
power supply to operate them.
[015] In another embodiment, at least one bracket support is provided on the
second portion for supporting wiring harnesses and solenoid actuators. Brackets or
bridges in plastic carrier provide routing and resting support to the wiring harnesses
and other accessories in such a manner that these do not foul with the moving parts
inside the cover. Considering the space availability on the Engine the brackets/
bridges are designed for supporting and routing of wiring harness from Terminal
Pins to fuel injectors and for solenoid to actuator braking function.
[016] In an embodiment, fastener sleeves are also provided on the gasket. The
Fastener sleeve helps in guiding the bolts during assembly.
[017] Although the invention has been described with reference to specific
embodiments, this description is not meant to be construed in a limiting sense.

Various modifications of the disclosed embodiments, as well as alternate embodiments of the invention, will become apparent to persons skilled in the art upon reference to the description of the invention. It is therefore, contemplated that such modifications can be made without departing from the spirit or scope of the present invention as defined.
