A valve gate apparatus (11) for use in an injection moldingmachine, said injection molding machine having a plurality ofnozzles (1), said valve gate apparatus comprising:a sliding rail member (22), anda plurality of individual rail inserts (20);said sliding rail member (22) for moving said rail inserts (20) between an open position and a closed position, said plurality of individual rail inserts (20) individually coupled to said rail member (22) wherein said rail member (22) spans multiple nozzle gates (13) and optionally comprising a coupling member on said rail inserts (20) coupling said rail inserts (20) to an opening in said rail member (22), said coupling member being movable within said opening.
