Specification

The present subject matter described herein, relates to a vehicle lamp housing having a desiccant bag. More specifically, the present subject matter relates to a serviceable desiccant bag assembly in the vehicle lamp housing in which a used desiccant or non-performing desiccant bag can be replaced with a new desiccant bag.
BACKGROUND
[0002] Vehicle lamp or lights are mounted on a vehicle on the front and rear side of the vehicle. Some small lights for the purpose of signals are also provided on the sides of the vehicles. Front mounted lights are called as the headlamps or headlights while the lights mounted on the rear side of the vehicle are called as the tail lights.
[0003] While driving the vehicle, headlamps or headlights help a driver to drive the vehicle on the road during night times or during bad light conditions so that the driver can see the path ahead to avoid any unwanted situation. Similarly, the tail lights help the rear chasing vehicle to identify the vehicle going ahead.
[0004] Now the driver driving the vehicle can see the path ahead of him/her only when the light is of proper intensity so that path ahead is visible properly but sometimes due to the outside harsh environmental conditions like rain, fog, etc., vehicle driving becomes a challenge but it also happens that the headlights or headlamps also becomes foggy due to seepage of moisture inside the headlamps/headlights and visibility of the path gets reduced as this foggy lamps reduces the intensity of lights coming out of it as compared to the normal headlamps.
[0005] Thus it becomes the need to clear this moisture in the headlamps or headlights so that visibility remains proper to guide the driver on the path. Several efforts have been made in this direction to clear the moisture inside the headlamps or headlights. In the prior arts, there is use of the commonly available silica gel or the desiccant bag inside the headlamps or headlights. Desiccant bag inside the headlamps or headlights

absorbs the moisture inside and helps to clear the foggy lights to keep the intensity of light intact so that the driver does not face any difficulty while driving and the path ahead is visible properly.
[0006] However, though in the existing literatures, use of desiccant bag or installing desiccant bag in the headlamps or headlights or serviceability of the desiccant bag is suggested, but the arrangement is complicated and involves fixation of multiple child parts. Further, the existing method does not provide leak proof arrangement and fast installation.
[0007] Therefore, there is a need to provide a vehicle lamp housing assembly in which desiccant bag assembly can be installed in a convenient way within a short span of time.
OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION
[0001] Some of the objects of the present disclosure, which at least one
embodiment herein satisfy, are listed herein below.
[0002] It is an obj ect of the present subj ect matter to overcome the aforementioned
and other drawbacks existing in the prior art systems and methods.
[0003] It is a significant object of the present disclosure to provide a provision for
the serviceability of the pre-fitted desiccant bag assembly.

[0028] The following is a detailed description of embodiments of the disclosure
depicted in the accompanying drawings. The embodiments are in such detail as to clearly communicate the disclosure. However, the amount of detail offered is not intended to limit the anticipated variations of embodiments; on the contrary, the intention is to cover all modifications, equivalents, and alternatives falling within the spirit and scope of the present disclosure as defined by the appended claims.
[0029] While the embodiments of the disclosure are subject to various
modifications and alternative forms, specific embodiment thereof have been shown by way of example in the figures and will be described below. It should be understood, however, that it is not intended to limit the disclosure to the particular forms disclosed, but on the contrary, the disclosure is to cover all modifications, equivalents, and alternative falling within the scope of the disclosure.
[0030] The terms "comprises", "comprising", or any other variations thereof used

Exemplary implementations/embodiments
[0031] The present disclosure relates to a vehicle lamp housing assembly that is
able to facilitate replacement of one or more desiccant bags pre-fitted with the vehicle lamp. This is important because when the desiccant becomes exhausted or is non-performing, moisture retains on the front lens of the vehicle lamp housing assembly thereby reducing visibility. The vehicle lamp housing assembly facilitates easy replacement of such non-performing desiccant bags with new desiccant bag in order to enable adequate visibility of the road conditions while the vehicle is in motion.
[0032] Figure 1 depicts a vehicle lamp housing assembly (100) in accordance with
an embodiment of the present disclosure. The vehicle lamp housing assembly (100) is equipped with a provision of facilitating replacement of one or more desiccant bags already existing in the assembly (100).
[0033] In an aspect, the vehicle lamp housing assembly (100) has pre-fitted
desiccant bags that are mounted on integrated inner surface.
[0034] In an aspect, the vehicle lamp housing assembly (100) comprises of a front
lens (101) and a rear lamp housing (102). The front lens (101) facilitates light in forward direction, whereas the rear lamp housing (102) is connected with the front lens (101) at a front end.
[0035] In an aspect, as shown in Figure 2, the rear lamp housing (102) defines an
inner surface (102-1) and an outer surface (102-O). There is provided one or more mounting provisions on the inner surface (102-1) of the rear lamp housing (102), where the one or more mounting provisions are provided to receive lamp on the inner surface (102-1) of the rear lamp housing (102).

[0036] In an aspect, the inner surface (102-1) of the rear lamp housing (102) also
includes a plurality of desiccant bags (103-1, 103-2) positioned at one or more mounting provisions of the rear lamp housing (102). Generally, the desiccant bags are positioned on flat surface by means of some adhesive. In an embodiment, the flat surface can be provided in horizontal direction (i.e., along vehicle length direction) or in vertical direction (i.e., along vehicle height direction).
[0037] Figure 3 depicts a sectional view A-A of an inner surface of the rear lamp
housing (102) of the vehicle in accordance with an embodiment of the present disclosure. In an aspect, the outer surface (102-O) further defines a continuous flange (104) extended perpendicularly away from the outer surface (102-O) around the plurality of desiccant bags (103-1, 103-2).
[0038] In an aspect, the outer surface (102-O) defines a plurality of screw
receiving mounting holes (105-1, 105-2, 105-3, 105-4) (shown in Figure 1) positioned outside to the continuous flange (104). Exemplary, as shown in figures, there are four screw receiving mounting holes (105-1, 105-2, 105-3, 105-4) provided at four corners of substantially rectangular shaped continuous flange (104).
[0039] In an aspect, the outer surface (102-O) defines a continuous groove (106)
around each of the plurality of desiccant bags (103-1, 103-2) in order to enable removal of each of the plurality of desiccant bags (103-1, 103-2) upon cutting the continuous groove (106) followed by replacement of new desiccant bag in the requisite area. Herein, the continuous groove (106) is a weak portion and facilitates continuous smooth directed cutting as required for replacement of the desiccant bag.
[0040] In an example, the outer surface (102-O) may define a marked area, as
shown with dotted lines in Figure 4, which allows easy cutting of the continuous groove (106) for replacement of the desiccant bag. Thus this service can be availed very easily within a short span of time in automobile service centres.

[0041] In an aspect, the continuous groove (106) is defined inside the continuous
flange (104) on the outer surface (102-O) of the rear lamp housing (102).
[0042] Additionally, the outer surface (102-O) includes a holding portion (107) (as
shown in Figure 4) extending perpendicularly away from the outer surface (102-O) over which the plurality of desiccant bags (103-1, 103-2) are positioned.
[0043] Figure 5 (a)-(b) depicts components of a desiccant bag assembly in
accordance with an embodiment of the present disclosure. In an aspect, the desiccant bag assembly (200) comprises of a cap portion (201), an O-ring/gasket (202) and a desiccant bag (203) to be replaced.
[0044] In an aspect, the cap portion (201) is preferably made of plastic and is
having a shape complementary with shape of the existing plurality of desiccant bags (103-1, 103-2) and a portion removed from the vehicle lamp housing assembly having the desiccant bag to be replaced.
[0045] In an aspect, the cap portion (201) defines a plurality of screw mounting
holes (204-1, 204-2, 204-3, 204-4) complementary with position of a plurality of screw receiving mounting holes (105-1, 105-2, 105-3, 105-4) of the vehicle lamp housing assembly (100).
[0046] In an aspect, the desiccant bag (203) is attached with the cap portion (201)
by means of known adhesives. Herein, there is provided the O-ring/gasket (202), where O-ring/gasket (202) is attached with the cap portion (201) and is configured to sandwich in between the continuous flange (104) of the vehicle lamp housing assembly (100) and the cap portion (201). This feature provides a seal proof arrangement at joinery of the desiccant bag assembly (200) and the vehicle lamp housing assembly (100).
[0047] Figure 6 illustrates an example method of serviceability of desiccant bag
in the vehicle lamp housing assembly (100) in accordance with an exemplary embodiment of the present disclosure. The order in which the method is described is

not intended to be construed as a limitation, and any number of the described method blocks may be combined in any order to implement the method or any alternative method.
[0048] At block (301), the method includes removal of the existing desiccant bag
from the vehicle lamp housing assembly (100) by cutting an outer surface (102-O) of the rear lamp housing (102) along a continuous groove (106) and de-attach the cut desiccant bag by pulling the cut desiccant bag outward with help of a holding portion (107) provided on the outer surface (102-O).
[0049] At block (302), the method includes placing the desiccant bag assembly
(200) having the new desiccant bag (203) and the O-ring (202) on the cut profile of the rear lamp housing (102).
[0050] At block (303), the method includes mounting the desiccant bag assembly
(200) on the vehicle lamp housing assembly (100) by means of the plurality of screws
[0051] Therefore, the assembly (100) with all the features designed and aligned
accordingly as discussed above becomes effective in allowing serviceability of desiccants in the vehicle lamp easily without involving much complexity. This enables serviceability of the existing desiccants to be pursued at automobile service centres along with other cutting and replacement procedures.
Technical Advantages
