The invention relates to a navigation system in a vehicle and in particular relates to a vehicle 'navigation display icon' displayed on a LCD screen provided with the vehicle information display instrument of the vehicle.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The statements in this section merely provide background information related to the present disclosure and may not constitute prior art(s).
Generally, vehicles are equipped with various kinds of in-built navigation system that are well qualified to track the location of the moving vehicle by using global positioning system and the reading of an odometer in a vehicle information display instrument of the vehicle. The global positioning system utilizes the road map of various countries that are loaded and regularly upgraded to convey the exact position of the vehicle. Further, these navigation system also predicts the journey time of the moving vehicles depending on the locations (FROM and TO) selected by the operator of the vehicle. These information are intelligently displayed on a Liquid Crystal Display screen of the vehicle information display instrument of the vehicle. Consideration has also been given to the display of other interesting information such as gas station, hospital, pharmacy, restaurants, and also the duration of the journey on the vehicle information display instrument of the vehicle.
However, such navigation system provided on the vehicle information display instruments are characterized to display the navigation on the liquid crystal display on one side of the vehicle information display instrument wherein the focus of the rider often misses out while coordinating with other information being conveyed on the other side of the vehicle information display instrument. In other words, the navigation display icon already present on the vehicle information display instrument is so complex to read and understand the next direction instructed by the navigation map attached with the vehicle. Further, the direction of movement of the vehicle gets highlighted on the navigation display icon in such a way that it gets illuminated once
2
and only in a single pattern which sometimes gets missed by the rider that subsequently leads to either miss in direction by the rider and/or confusion in correctly foreseeing the next possible direction. Also, the existing navigation icon does not clearly indicate the next possible turn available in the pre-defined route of the rider because of its design and the arrangement of glow of the moving direction.
Moreover, the navigation systems being displayed in the vehicle information display instruments generally work on micro controllers having a bus width in the range of 8 bit to 16 bit. Hence, the speed of the navigation display is veiy slow and sometimes very poor in streaming the live track of the road map displayed oh the liquid crystal display of the vehicle information display instrument of the vehicles. The process and speed of the display of the navigation turn has to be lightening quick to convey the next turning direction of the vehicle to the rider well in advance. In other words, the more the complexity of the navigation display icon, the difficult it would be for the rider to understand the glowing pattern of the navigation icon. Additionally, the cost and power consumption of these micro controllers are also very high. Hence, there is an urgent need a reliable, simple, stable, efficient, and less complex vehicle navigation display icon to overcome the above mentioned drawbacks available with the present navigation display icon.

The present subject matter relates to a navigation display icon 100 provided on the vehicle information display instrument of the vehicle as shown in FIG. 1. FIG. 1 further illustrates the provision of highlighting .various direction as required and mapped on the map provided with a mobile of^Sie rider. Each of the directions is individually highlighted with arrow: to indicate vand inform the rider about the next possible turn of the vehicle. The navigation display icon 100 as illustrated in FIG. 1 further explains that the indication of directions is not limited to left, right, straight or U-turn, but also to 'straight and then left' and/or 'straight and then right5 as per the direction of the moving vehicle. The navigation display icon 100 as can be seen in FIG. 1 is displayed by using a variety of liquid crystal substances, thus called as Liquid Crystal Display, that have a unique feature of being affected by electrical current. For example, a particular form of liquid crystal is the nematic liquid crystal called twisted nematics which are naturally twisted. Applying an electric current to these crystals will untwist them to varying degrees depending on the voltage. Because the crystals react predictably to electric current, the electric current can be used to control the passage of light through the crystal.
FIG. 2 illustrates a cross sectional view of the navigation display icon 100 as explained with reference to FIG. 1 in the preceding paragraph. FIG. 2 demonstrates individual sections of the said navigation display icon 100 to clearly indicate each tracked segments provided with the navigation display icon 100 in an embodiment of the present subject matter. During the operation, only the tracked segments 102 present in line with the direction of the moving vehicle get spot-light and are thus highlighted in a pre-programmed pattern to draw the attention of the rider to inform him about the next possible direction, as will be explained later. In another embodiment of the present subject matter, each segments of the navigation icon 100 illuminates sequentially leading to the complete stagnant illumination of the specific highlighted track 102 of the navigation icon 100 as shown in FIG. 3. The sequence of the said highlighted track 102 of the navigation icon 100 is governed by a predefined

Thus, the predefined time lag is fed to the microcontroller 104 to accordingly glow the tracked segment 102 sequentially resulting in the required pattern of the segments. Conclusively, the embodiment facilitates in the sequential glow of each segments and subsequently a stagnant glow of ^e said track of the navigation display icon 100 so that the attention of the rider can :be drawn to the displayed icon and the upcoming turn displayed on the vehicle information display instrument of the vehicle. In another embodiment of the present subject, matter, the tracked segments 102 for every particular signal illuminates sequentially similar to the previous embodiment however once the specific track gets illuminated, the process is repeated again till the instruction of next turn direction is fed to the navigation display icon 100 present in the vehicle information display instrument. In this way, the illumination of that glowing track constantly draws the attention of the rider towards the upcoming turn of the vehicle resulting in more precise and prolonged attention of the rider. This advantageously lessen the distraction of the rider inviting focused ride of the two wheeler.
Operationally, as the vehicle information display instrument gets turned on with the powering ON of the vehicle by an ignition switch, the microcontroller 104, provided with the vehicle information display instrument, receives navigation signals from an application 106 installed in a mobile phone of the rider. The application is already fed with a library of world map comprising the details about streets, roads, cities, and the like. Thus, the application fetch data relevant to the travel map of the rider and transfers to the vehicle information display instrument via a Bluetooth communication module (BLE) 108. FIG. 4 demonstrates an embodiment of the present subject matter, the microcontroller 104 present with the vehicle information display instrument is programmed to manipulate the navigation instructions received from the Bluetooth communication module (BLE) 108 to be displayed on the navigation display icon 100 provided in accordance with the preferred embodiment of the present subject matter. Therefore, the navigation data displayed on the application 106 is conveyed to the rider through the navigation display icon 100 as displayed in
flowchart evident in FIG. 5. In other words, the rider get to know the next possible
turn well in advance as exhibited on the navigation display icon 100 as evident from
FIG. 2 and FIG. 3. In an embodiment of the present subject matter, the restarting of
vehicle governs and controls the resetting of the bluetooth arrangement too in case of
any error and/or requirements. In an embodiment of the present subject matter, the
turned ON status of the bluetooth arrangement integrated in the vehicle information
display instrument is visibly indicated in the vehicle information display instrument
with a bluetooth symbol i.e. & visible on the displaying screen of the vehicle
information display instrument. .-'..;.
The vehicle navigation icon according to the present subject matter advantageously facilitates a focused method of displaying the navigation route of the rider diminishing the complexity to read the upcoming turn of the vehicle. Most importantly, the way the navigation icon glows in terms of sequential glow of the segments of the navigation icon maintains a constant attention of the rider towards the upcoming direction. In a special feature of the present subject matter, the sequential glow of a specific highlighted track highlighted on the navigation icon on the vehicle information display instrument of the vehicle lead to the complete illumination of the specific highlighted track of the navigation icon and also to a blinking illumination of that specific highlighted track in different embodiment of the present subject matter. Also, the provision of repeated blinking of the specific highlighted track strengthens the focus of the rider lessening the distraction while riding the two wheelers. Furthermore, the speed of conveying the navigation information has also got enhanced according to the present subject matter.
