PREAMBLE TO THE DESCRIPTION
The following specification particularly describes the invention and the manner in
which it is to be performed
FIELD OF INVENTION
The present invention relates to vehicle safety system. A vehicle safety device is invented to protect the occupant from hard contact with steering wheel, steering column and other interior of vehicle.
BACKGROUND OF INVENTION
The serious head injury during full frontal crash cause the death of occupant. Head injury to car occupant in crash are major cause of death and permanent brain damage. Preventing impact to head and reducing severity of head impact that do occur has the potential to save many lives.
There are many vehicle safety devices which has been invented and successfully implemented to vehicle. One among other safety device which prevents serious injury to the occupant is anti lock braking system which prevents the locking of wheel and maintains the vehicle stable during the panic braking. Another safety device used earlier initially was single lap belt. The said single lap belt used to prevent total ejection of occupant from car during crash. Improved seat belt device was developed to protect the occupant from violent impact against the internal structure. Said improved seat belt device comprises shoulder belt integrated to lap belt which prevents total ejection of occupant from car and also protect the occupant from violent impact against dashboard or internal structure of vehicle. Improved seat belt device also having force limiter which keep pre defined maximum force of belt and control level. Said improved
2
seat belt device further having pretension to tighten the belt during the very first fraction of crash.
Another safety device is air bags which are inflatable restraint prevalently used to prevent serious head injury of occupant, said air bags are interfaced or connected to sensor which detect certain sudden deceleration of vehicle. Said air bags consist of electronic control and air bag module. The sensor ignite the chemical propellant by means of electrical signal. The propellant produce the gas that inflate the air bag upon detecting the sudden deceleration of vehicle.
Seat belt has the drawback that it can not prevent the leg injury and neck injury of occupant or passenger in vehicle. Air bag reduces the neck injury and leg injury up to certain extent. Also Air bag is only one time use safety device, therefore, after application of air bag, replacement of the air bag safety device is prerequisite.
The present invention is related to vehicle safety device which allows driver' s seat and co-driver seat to move backward and increase the space area for movement of occupant body without direct hard contact to interior of vehicle and preventing the serious head and leg injury of occupant.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF INVENTION
The present invention consist of seat frame with roller, roller track rail, actuating rod , force transmitted rod and locking mechanism of roller. The striking plate, which is welded to actuating rod is just behind of front bumper. At the time of full frontal crash the impact force is transmitted to crash member of vehicle through the striking plate and actuating rod. Due to the impact force both striking plate and actuating rod move opposite to motion of vehicle and unlock the locking mechanism of seat roller . Seat frame is to move backward freely during crash.
4
The force required to move the seat frame backward is obtained from the motion of actuating rod through the force transmitted rod.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF INVENTION
Referring now to the drawings wherein the showings are for the purpose of illustrating a preferred embodiment of the invention only, and not for the purpose of limiting the same,
In accordance with the present invention, the vehicle safety device consist of seat frame as shown in figure-02 with roller slideably movable on wheel track (33 , 34), striking plate (25) attached to actuating rod (26) disposed behind the vehicle bumper , force transmitting rod (28 , 29) attached to said actuating rod (26) at one end, locking mechanism(27, 32, 35) attached to said actuating rod (26). Said
5
locking mechanism comprising resilient means (32) disposed on lock member (35) which is connected with rod member (27). Seat frame consist of three long members (18 . 19 , 20 ), four cross member ( 14 , 15 , 16 ,17), four legs ( 13 , 11 . 24 , 22 ). The bottom end of each leg are connected with rollers (10, 12, 23, and 21). The said rollers are provided to allow the said seat frame to roll on the said wheel track (33, 34) instead of the sliding motion of seat frame during full frontal crash.
When vehicle moves upward or downward slope then there is tendency of seat frame to move forward or backward. The forward motion of seat frame is not required even at time of crash so forward motion of seat frame is permanently restricted by welding said wheel track (33,34) to the vehicle floor. The backward motion of seat frame is required during the full frontal crash. To ensure the backward motion of seat frame at the time of crash the said locking mechanism is provided. The said locking mechanism starts working after the early fraction of crash. Locking mechanism restrict the backward motion of seat frame all the time except the time of crash.
The lock mechanism having resilient means such as spring is loaded in the said lock mechanism. The said rod members ( 27 , 30 ) which are either bolted or welded to said actuating rod ( 26 ), the said lock member (35) is pressed against the said resilient member such as spring ( 32 ) . The said lock member ( 35 ) and said spring ( 32 ) are shown in figure 5.
The first and second force transmitting members ( 28 , 29 ) which are connected with said actuating rod ( 26 ) come in contact with the said seat frame when the
6
striking plate ( 25 ) experience the impact force during the full frontal crash is shown in figure 4 .
At one end of the said second force transmitting member (29) the first force transmitting member (28) which is C type bracket is attached with the help of welding. The force transmitted member (28, 29 ) is connected to actuating rod (26) by bolt joint through the C type bracket ( 28 ).
The said wheel track ( 33 , 34 ) which is having C type cross section are welded to the floor of vehicle. The wheel track ( 33 , 34 ) ensure only longitudinal backward motion of said seat frame. Said wheel track (33, 34) has hole adjacent to seat frame legs (23, 13). The said lock member (35) is passing through the said hole and restrict the backward motion of said seat frame in normal operation.
The actuating rod (26) starts to move backward when striking plate (25) experience the impact force. The said rod members ( 27 , 30 ) are rigidly connected to said actuating rod ( 26) so the said rod members ( 27 , 30 ) also start to move backward opposite to vehicle motion . As the said rod members ( 27 , 30 ) move backward, the said lock member ( 35 ) come out from the hole of said wheel track ( 33 , 34 ) by spring force action of resilient means. The said resilient means ( 32 ) such as spring is compressed in such way that it unlocks the said front rollers (12,23) of said seat frame and the said front rollers (12,23) are free to move in backward direction. The backward movement of said seat frame during the crash and forward movement of said seat frame can be controlled by providing the suitable lock or stopper at said wheel track (33, 34).
7
In the present invention the distance between the occupant body and steering wheel is increased after the crash to allow the more movement of seat belt before the tightening of the said belt without the hard contact of head of occupant to steering wheel.
The said vehicle safety device also increase the distance between the occupant leg and dashboard of vehicle and prevent the serious leg injury.
The invented vehicle safety device doses not need any external source for actuating the device.
Unlike the air bag safety device invented safety device can be used more then one time. Three points mounted seat belt or four point mounted seat belt to be used strictly.
The cost of invented vehicle safety device is almost same as the cost of air bag but it can be used more time than air bag.
The foregoing description is a specific embodiment of the present invention. It should be appreciated that this embodiment is described for purpose of illustration only, and that numerous alterations and modifications may be practiced by those skilled in the art without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention. It is intended that all such modifications and alterations be included insofar as they come within the scope of the invention as claimed or the equivalents thereof.
