, Description:A VENTILATION SYSTEM FOR A VEHICLE TRANSMISSION HOUSING
FIELD OF INVENTION
The present invention relates to vehicle transmission housing, in particular, the present invention relates to the ventilation system for the vehicle transmission housing, more particularly to an air breather system attached to the transmission housing for removing the hot air generated therein.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
Generally, transmission housing comprises a clutch assembly and transmission assembly. The heat produced by the clutch assembly due to frictional operation, increases the temperature in the transmission housing. In front-end loaders there are more engagements and disengagements of clutch resulting in high amount of heat generation. The heat produced during engagement of drive from the clutch is transferred to air surrounding it. The heat and the hot air remains inside the system reducing the clutch life. Due to increase in temperature of the housing, wear rate of clutch also increases and thus reducing the life of the clutch. Therefore, there exists a need in art to provide a provision of ventilation for the vehicle transmission housing to enable clutch cooling and increase the clutch life.
CN201010580364 provides an automobile clutch breather plug comprising a plug body and a plug shell which form a gas channel, wherein the top of the plug body is provided with a dust cover plate, and at least one lateral part is provided with a filtering gas grid. This clutch breather plug avoids high temperature rise of oil in the gear box and shortened gear box working life caused by friction heat of a clutch friction plate. Furthermore, also avoids abrasion of the clutch plate caused by the entrance of foreign matter.
EP82101293 discloses an air breather device for an automotive manual transmission system comprising of a transmission housing and a clutch cover which are made by monobloc casting. The said air breather device comprises a chamber communicating with the interior of the transmission housing and the open air by way of a port, which permits air introduction into the transmission from the open air or air discharge from the transmission into the open air in accordance with the pressure difference created between the inside of the transmission and the open air.
JP06372001 provides a breathing device for a wet clutch, which lets atmospheric air into a clutch case only when a pressure inside the clutch case becomes negative pressure, said closed wet clutch having a forced lubrication system pumping oil from a tank through a pump to a spray nozzle and a discharge oil system conveying oil from a fixed suction nozzle, which opens to oil pressurized onto an inner peripheral surface of the clutch case when the case rotates to the tank.
The cited prior-arts suffers many disadvantages such as insufficient cooling of the clutch pack, no provision for ventilation or removal of hot air in the transmission case and no proper positioning of the air breather in the transmission assembly. Many of the prior-art documents let in the atmospheric air into the transmission case due to negative pressure to enable clutch cooling, this bring lot of tiny dust particles into the transmission housing and creates problem in operation of the transmission and clutch assembly. Hence there is a need in art to provide an efficient air breather for the transmission assembly which removes the hot air generated in the transmission case to the atmosphere.
The present invention provides an ventilation system for the vehicle transmission housing to enable the escape of hot air produced in the transmission assembly during engagement of drive from the clutch, to the atmosphere. The present invention provides an efficient air breather system by providing sufficient cooling of the clutch packs, thereby reducing the clutch wear rate and increasing the clutch life. Further the positioning of the air breather is optimised with respect to the rotation of flywheel to provide the required cooling of the transmission assembly.
OBJECTIVE OF THE INVENTION
The primary objective of the present invention is to provide a ventilation system for the vehicle transmission housing that reduces the temperature inside the housing.
Another objective of the present invention is to provide an air breather system for the vehicle transmission assembly to remove the hot air generated inside the transmission housing during engagement of drive from the clutch.
Still another objective of the present invention is to provide an efficient air breather system for the vehicle transmission assembly, which increases the clutch life and reduces the clutch wear rate.
Yet another objective of the present invention is to optimize the positioning of the air breather with respect to the rotation of flywheel to provide the required cooling for the transmission assembly.
Final objective of the present invention is to prevent the entry of dust particles into the transmission assembly thereby enabling efficient operation of the transmission and clutch assembly.

The present invention provides a ventilation system for the vehicle transmission assembly for removing the hot air generated inside the transmission housing, comprises of: a transmission housing (101); a gear box housing (103); a clutch housing (102); and an air breather (104) with attached strainer (106), wherein the first end (105a) of the said air breather is located in the said clutch housing (102) by means of an housing, wherein the second end (105b) of the said air breather is located outside the transmission housing (101). The location of the said housing is optimized with respect to rotation of flywheel inside the transmission housing. The circulation of air due to the rotation of flywheel inside the transmission housing creates a centrifugal action, wherein the said optimized location of the first end (105a) of the air breather utilizes the centrifugal action to vent out the hot air into the atmosphere. The efficient air breather system of the present invention by venting out the heat generated, reduces the operating temperature of the clutch pack, thereby reducing the wear and tear rate of clutch pack and increasing the lifetime of clutch pack.
