4. DESCRIPTION:
Technical Field of the Invention
[0001] The invention relates to an online advertisement system. More specifically the invention pertains to a web based user targeted advertisement system and a method for publishing multiple advertisements to a user.
Background of the Invention
[0002] Increase in the usage of internet through internet supportive devices like mobile phones, laptops and the like has shown a potential for better targeting of advertisements. Hitherto, some websites, applications provide information search facility which is based on keywords entered by a user seeking some information. The user query is used as an indicator of the type of information of interest to the user. By comparing the user query to a list of keywords specified by an advertiser, it is possible to provide some form of targeted advertisements to the users. But such method of searching for advertisements by the user is more likely to consume valuable time of the user and may lack the relevancy of advertisement targeted to the user.
[0003] Conventional online advertising solutions like tracking the webpage content browsed by the user for better targeted advertisements are well known. For example, if the web page includes content related to sports, then sports-related advertisements can be targeted to that web page. Such conventional solutions can improve advertisement targeting but such solutions do not match the user profile with a physical business located in the user's geographic region or a region of interest to the user. Nor does these conventional solutions present location based or user's behavioral based information in an interactive or exploratory manner.
[0004] Typical internet advertisement services include "spam" emails and pop-up advertisement banners. Unfortunately, there are many shortcomings in these internet advertisement services. For example, spam emails and pop-up advertisement banners may not effectively target users and can be highly inefficient and can cause inconvenience to the user especially when the user is working.
[0005] Further, there are some online advertising solutions which track down the internet activities of the users to target the advertisements. Such user profiling may encroach on user privacy.
[0006] Typically, the desktop is an important section of the output device displayed in the background behind running programs. In the past, users had multiple widgets displayed simultaneously on their output device for various reasons like displaying current news, advertisements and the like. Having multiple widgets displayed at once can clutter up the user's desktop space. Though these widgets could provide advertisers with a way to interact with users of the widgets while these widgets reside on the web page, mobile devices and desktops associated with the user, these widgets might not be very useful from the users perspective to track down his/her transactions that the user does through various advertisers. Further, advertising through these widgets could also pose hindrance in the work while the user is at work.
[0007] Conventional systems and methods for delivering customized advertising within the framework of an interactive communication system of the user are know wherein the internet users have an internet account credited each time the consumer views an advertisement from the advertiser. These systems are relatively complicated in that they rely on direct interaction between the user and the advertisers via the user computer. These systems are characterized in that they require the advertisers to download multiple applications like a user member code and a user control module stored on the user's computer. Such systems and methods are relatively complex and are therefore difficult in implementation.
[0008] It is therefore desirable to have a user friendly, innovative, effective and user targeted advertisement solution that would facilitate the user with various informational advertisements from various advertisers without causing any hindrance to the user while the user is at work. The communication enables the host to target only the relevant advertisements to the user. The targeting server targets the relevant advertisements to the user whenever the targeting server finds a match between the advertisements that it receives from the advertising server and the user characteristics and/or the network characteristics that it stores in its database. Flow then proceeds to block 408.
[0054] As previously explained in the block 406 the step of communication between the advertising server and the targeting server, and storage of the user characteristics and/or the network characteristics by the targeting server enables the targeting server to target the dynamically changing advertisements and/or the static advertisements to the user. The targeting of the dynamically changing advertisements and/or the static advertisements to the user publishes the dynamically changing advertisements and/or the static advertisements in the advertisements pool as depicted by the block 408. The publication of the multiple advertisements including the dynamically changing advertisements and/or the static advertisements in the advertisements pool further takes place offline in the absence of internet connectivity from the internet supportive devices by means of multiple informational buffers. The multiple informational buffers receive and store the multiple advertisements from the targeting server. Upon publication the users can then activate the dynamically changing advertisements and/or the static advertisements in the advertisement pool. The activation of the dynamically changing advertisement and/or the static advertisement preferably by clicking leads the user to a predefined web page linked to the dynamically changing advertisement and/or the static advertisement activated by the user. Flow then proceeds to block 410.
[0055] The block 410 describes tracking of a predefined active time spent by the user in viewing the dynamically changing advertisements and/or the static advertisements in the advertisement pool. Flow then proceeds to block 412. The block 412 describes tracking of information related to browsing, shopping or transaction directed by the dynamically changing advertisements and/or the static advertisements upon activation.
[0056] In an exemplary embodiment, the tracking of the predefined active time spent by the user in viewing the dynamically changing advertisements and/or the static advertisements in the advertisement pool as depicted by the block 410 and the tracking of information related to shopping and/or transaction or browsing directed by the dynamically changing advertisements and/or the static advertisements as depicted by the block 412 can facilitate the user with some complimentary gifts from the host and/or the advertisers, accumulation of some reward points which the user can redeem to save expenditure towards using the internet services, shopping and the like.
