Specification

FIELD OF INVENTION

The present invention relates to a wheel hub assembly for a motor cycle and more particularly to the brake panel assembly for the motor cycle.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

Generally, wheels of motor vehicle consist of a wheel hub assembly having two major parts known as wheel hub with brake drum and brake panel, made up of machined aluminium casting, holding brake shoe. The brake drum has grooves on its outer periphery to prevent water entry into the drum and brake shoe liner surfaces.

The brake panel provided with the wheel hub assembly is subjected to braking torque produced during brake application and thus said brake panel is required to be sufficiently stiff to withstand torque.
To achieve above mentioned stiffness material requirement for the brake panel increases which results in heavy weight and higher manufacturing and tool cost.

As a result of heavy weight of brake drum and brake panel final weight of the wheel hub assembly is very high.

Thus a manufacturing solution for the wheel hub assembly is required so that above mentioned concerns can be taken care of without compromising at water entry prevention in the brake drum shoe surface.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The present invention is related to a wheel hub assembly for a motor vehicle having an axle passing through brake panel assembly and wheel hub. Said wheel hub assembly has a brake drum, a brake panel assembly holding multiple brake shoes, a bearing spacer secured between multiple bearings which are secured around the axle. The brake panel also has a brake lever fixed to it.

Further a brake drum cover is secured over said brake drum and hooked over the brake panel. A grooved ring is also fixed adjacent to the brake drum cover below the brake panel and around the brake drum. The brake drum cover and the grooved ring are reducing the amount of water entering into the brake shoe.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE ACCOMPANYING DRAWING

The present invention will become more fully understood from the detailed description given herein below and the accompanying drawing which is incorporated in and constitute embodiments of the invention, illustrate several aspects of the invention and together with a description of the embodiments serve to explain the principles of the invention and thus, are not limited of the present invention and a brief description of the drawing is as follows:

Figure 1 is showing the assembling arrangement of the claimed wheel hub assembly in the front wheel.

Figure 2 is the cut-section view of the wheel hub assembly depicting the embodiments of the invention.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

The embodiments disclosed below are not intended to be exhaustive or to limit the invention to the precise forms disclosed in the following detailed description. Rather, the embodiments are chosen and described so that others skilled in the art may utilize their teachings. The invention may have application to all types of two wheeled vehicles.

Reference is made to Figure 1 in order to describe assembling arrangement of the claimed wheel hub assembly (100) in the front wheel (004) of the vehicle (001). Said wheel hub assembly (100) is mounted in the centre of the front wheel (004) through the axle (101) which is passing through the wheel hub assembly (100). Front suspension system (003) of said vehicle (001) is fixed with the front wheel (004) such that axle (101) is passing through lower most part of said suspension system (003). Mentioned front suspension system (003) is fixed with the frame (002) of the vehicle (001).

Figure 2 is an exemplary representation of the embodiments of the claimed invention. The axle (101) of the vehicle is passing through the wheel hub assembly (100).

Broadly, said wheel hub assembly (100) is made up of a brake drum (105) and a brake panel (102) which holds multiple brake shoes (104).

The Brake drum (105) is made up of thin sheet metal. For the current explanation, a pair of brake shoe (104) is fixed over the brake panel (102) and secured inside the brake drum (105).

The axle (101) is surrounded by the bearings (110) and said bearings (110) are separated by the bearing spacer (108) in order to keep the rotation function of the bearing (110) smooth.

A lever (103) is pivotally fixed over the brake panel (102), which is secured over the brake drum cover (106). Said brake drum cover (106) is placed over the brake drum (105) in order to minimise the entry of water inside brake shoe (104) liner surface.

Said brake drum cover (106) is open at its lower portion and is hooked (109) with the brake panel (102) on the top.

Further, a grooved ring (107) is fixed below the brake panel (102), near the brake drum cover (106) and around the brake drum (105) in such a way that it further reduces the amount of water leaked through the brake drum cover (105) and drain it out and hence reducing the effect of water damage on the brake drum (105).

Described embodiments and their arrangement for the wheel hub assembly (100) provides a manufacturing solution to provide proper stiffness, weight and maintaining reasonable manufacturing cost without compromising at water entry prevention in the brake drum shoe (104) surface.

WHAT IS CLAIMED IS

1) A wheel for a motor vehicle comprising an axle passing through a brake assembly comprising a brake drum housing a plurality of brake shoe, a plurality of spacer secured between a plurality of bearing secured around the axle, a brake lever fixed over a brake panel supporting a brake drum cover housing the brake drum such that a grooved ring is fixed around the brake drum.

2) The wheel, as claimed in claim 1, wherein the brake drum is hooked over the brake panel.

3) The wheel, as claimed in claim 1, wherein the grooved ring is secured adjacent to the brake drum cover and is placed below the brake panel.
