Abstract: A wire dispensing unit The invention relates to a wire dispensing unit which carry one or more wires and enable easy dispensing of one or more wires through it. The dispensing unit comprises of two parts; First being a bottom portion (1) having a flat bottom base with a central hollow spool (2) to wind the wire. The spool is attached to the base through its bottom end portion (3) and runs axially perpendicular to the plane of bottom base till its top end portion (4). Second part is a retractable lid (6) having a central orifice (8) with diameter sufficient to accommodate the top end portion (4) of hollow spool and to maintain a gap (9) for inward and outward passage of the wire, and has side wall (7) extending to the peripheral end of the said flat bottom base. A single dispensing unit is capable of dispensing multiple wires and also the plurality of dispensing units of present invention can be stacked vertically for dispensing plurality of wires. Claims:We claim:
1. A wire dispensing unit for storing and dispensing wire comprising
a bottom portion having a flat bottom base (1) with a central hollow spool (2) to wind the wire which is attached to the base through its bottom end (3) portion and runs axially perpendicular to the plane of bottom base till its top end portion (4); and
a retractable lid (6) having a central orifice (8) with diameter sufficient to accommodate the top end portion (4) of hollow spool (2) and to maintain a gap (9) for inward and outward passage of the wire, and having side wall (7) extending to the peripheral end of the said flat bottom base (1);
wherein, after spooling the wire around the central hollow spool (2) of the bottom portion, the dispensing unit is closed by tightening the lid (6) and leaving one end of the wire outside the dispensing unit through the gap (9) between the spool and the central orifice (8).

2. The wire dispensing unit as claimed in claim 1, wherein the central hollow spool (2) is permanently attached to the flat bottom base (1).

3. The wire dispensing unit as claimed in claim 1, wherein the central hollow spool (2) and the flat bottom base (1) is a unibody structure.

4. The wire dispensing unit as claimed in claim 1, wherein the bottom end portion (3) of the central hollow spool (2) is wider than its top end portion (4) and the spool taper from said bottom end portion (3) to said top end portion (4) forming a uniformly slanted spool surface.

5. The wire dispensing unit as claimed in claim 1, wherein the lid (6) is tightened with the help of locking mechanism.

6. The wire dispensing unit as claimed in claim 5, wherein the locking mechanism is flanges mounted on the bottom portion (1) and the lid (6).

The wire dispensing unit as claimed in claim 1, wherein plurality of wires are individually spooled around the central hollow spool (2) of the bottom portion (3) forming the vertical stack of spooled wires and the dispensing unit is closed by tightening the lid (6) and leaving one end of each wire outside the dispensing unit through the gap (9) between the spool and the central orifice (8).

8. The dispensing unit as claimed in claim 1, wherein the spool is partially closed at its top end to provide gripping portion (5) for lifting and carrying the dispensing unit.

9. The dispensing unit as claimed in claim 1, wherein the retractable lid (6) is partially moulded in concave shape (8') at its central portion forming periphery of the central orifice (8).

10. A wire dispensing assembly consisting of two or more wire dispensing units stacked together wherein the said wire dispensing unit comprises
a bottom portion having a flat bottom base (1) with a central hollow spool (2) to wind the wire which is attached to the base through its bottom end portion (3) and runs axially perpendicular to the plane of bottom base till its top end portion (4); and
a retractable lid (6) having a central orifice (8) with diameter sufficient to accommodate the top end portion (4) of hollow spool and to maintain a gap for inward and outward passage (9) of the wire, and having side wall (7) extending to the peripheral end of the said flat bottom base (1);
wherein, after spooling the wire around the central hollow spool (2) of the bottom portion, the dispensing unit is closed by tightening the lid (6) and leaving one end of the wire outside the dispensing unit through the gap (9) between the spool and the central orifice (8).

11. The wire dispensing assembly as claimed in claim 10, wherein the two or more wire dispensing units are stacked together vertically.

The following specification particularly describes the invention and the manner in which it is to be performed.

FIELD OF INVENTION
The invention relates to a wire dispensing unit which carry one or more wires and enable easy dispensing of one or more wires through it. Further, plurality of such wire dispensing units can be stacked vertically for drawing plurality of wires simultaneously.

BACKGROUND OF INVENTION
Wires find their application in many fields all around the world. These wires are usually supplied to customers in cardboard boxes or loose. The cardboard boxes do not provide enough protection to the wires and also are inconvenient for carrying the wires. Further, they suffer the durability issues. Especially, being non-weatherproof, on wetting they may form the sludge. These are not reusable. Even though any other material is used to replace the cardboard, it will still suffer from many other problems. Like, the wire has to be first coiled in precise dimensions to match the dimensions of box, secondly the reel of wire has to be removed from the box and after usage the unconsumed wire has to be re-coiled and placed back in the box forming the entangled loops due to unmatched dimensions of re-coiled wire and the box.
Further, the containers/boxes presently available in market do not provide solution for dispensing/drawing the wire in and out of the container/box. The loose wire i.e. wire not stored in any container/box is exposed to surrounding which can damage and deteriorate quality of wire.
The present invention is developed for overcoming the problems related with prior wire containers. The wire dispensing unit of present invention is more durable and easy to handle, which can be used for storing and drawing one or more wires simultaneously. The present invention is more versatile which provide the portable wire dispensing unit and provides more efficient solution for above mentioned problems.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to dispensing unit which is used for controlled and low resistance wire dispensing. A single dispensing unit is capable of dispensing multiple wires and also the plurality of dispensing units of present invention can be stacked vertically for dispensing plurality of wires.
The dispensing unit comprises of two parts; First being a bottom portion (1) having a flat bottom base with a central hollow spool (2) to wind the wire. The spool is attached to the base through its bottom end portion (3) and runs axially perpendicular to the plane of bottom base till its top end portion (4).
Second part is a retractable lid (6) having a central orifice (8) with diameter sufficient to accommodate the top end portion (4) of hollow spool (2) and to maintain a gap (9) for inward and outward passage of the wire, and has side wall (7) extending to the peripheral end of the said flat bottom base.
For storing and dispensing of wire through this unit, the wire is spooled around the central hollow spool (2) of the bottom portion (1), and the dispensing unit is closed by tightening the lid (6) and one end of the wire is left outside the dispensing unit through the gap (9) of central orifice (8) of the lid. The wire can be drawn out by simply pulling the end of wire and it can again be placed inside by simple pushing back the excess wire inside dispensing unit through the gap (9).
These and other aspects of the present invention herein will be better appreciated and understood when considered in conjunction with the following description and the accompanying drawings. It should be understood, however, that the following descriptions, while indicating preferred embodiments and numerous specific details thereof, are given by way of illustration and not of limitation. Many changes and modifications may be made within the scope of the embodiments herein without departing from the spirit thereof, and the embodiments herein include all such modifications.

FIGURE 1 illustrates the side view of the wire dispensing units of the present invention.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION
As mentioned, there remains a long felt need to decipher a unit, which is durable and easy to handle, which can be used for storing and drawing one or more wires simultaneously. The present invention tries to address this long felt need.
The present invention herein provides a wire dispensing units (FIGURE 1) which stores and dispense the wire. It carries one or more wires and enables easy dispensing of one or more wires through it. Further, plurality of such wire dispensing units can be stacked vertically for drawing plurality of wires simultaneously increasing the work efficiency.
The cross sectional side view of the wire dispensing units is described in FIGURE 2 for explaining the components of the apparatus. Referring now to the FIGUREs, more particularly to FIGURE 1 to 3, where similar reference characters denote corresponding features consistently throughout the FIGUREs, preferred embodiments are shown.
Particularly referring to FIGURE 1, it illustrates an enclosed wire dispensing units which consists of a bottom portion (1) and a retractable lid (6). The lid and base are tightened together. The unit can store and dispense any kind of wire or rope. More preferable it can be used for metal wires whether coated or uncoated. The electric wires can be suitably stored and dispense through this unit.
FIGURE 2 illustrates the sectional side view of the wire dispensing units of the present invention.
FIGURE 3 illustrates prospective view of the wire dispensing units of the present invention.
A bottom portion (1) has a flat bottom base with a central hollow spool (2) to wind the wire. The spool is attached to the base through its bottom end portion (3) and runs axially perpendicular to the plane of bottom base till its top end portion (4). In one embodiment the central hollow spool is permanently attached to the flat bottom base. In another embodiment it is detachably attached to the flat bottom base. It may be prepared from the same or different material that is used for preparing bottom base and can be attached with suitable adhesives. In yet another embodiment, the central hollow spool and the flat bottom base is a unibody structure. They may be manufactured as a single piece.
A retractable lid (6) has a central orifice (8) with diameter sufficient to accommodate the top end portion (4) of hollow spool (2) and to maintain a gap (9) for inward and outward passage of the wire, and has side wall (7) extending to the peripheral end of the flat bottom base of the bottom portion (1). FIGURE 3 is an exemplary embodiment illustrating the top end portion (4) of spool (2) accommodated by the central orifice (8) of lid and the gap (9) between them.
For storing and dispensing of wire through this unit, the wire is spooled around the central hollow spool (2) of the bottom portion (1), and the dispensing unit is closed by tightening the lid (6) and one end of the wire is left outside the dispensing unit through the gap (9) of the central orifice (8) of the lid. The wire can be drawn out by simply pulling the end of wire and it can again be placed inside by simple pushing back the excess wire through the gap (9). It is a two way passage for in and out movement of wire. The passage provides smooth and low resistance movement of wire without clattering and entangling wire.
Any suitable locking mechanism can be employed for tightening the lid. Locking mechanism prevents lid form falling apart while drawing wire and while carrying the dispensing unit. One such simple mechanism is mounting the flanges on the bottom portion and on the lid, which get interlocked and prevent rotating of the lid while dispensing the wire through the unit. In an exemplary embodiment, the flanges are mounted on bottom surface of lid’s extending side walls and circumferentially on top surface of flat bottom base.
In preferred embodiment, the bottom end portion (3) of the central hollow spool is wider than its top end portion (4) and the spool taper from said bottom end portion to said top end portion forming a uniformly slanted spool surface. This aids in smoothly pushing back the remaining wire in the dispensing unit after drawing out the sufficient wire for use. It helps in the easy settling of the pushed back wire around the spool. Further, in another embodiment, the retractable lid is partially moulded in concave shape (8’) at its central portion, forming periphery of the central orifice. It provide controlled dispensing of wire inside or outside the dispensing unit. FIGURE3 illustrate such exemplary embodiment in which the dispensing units includes; a bottom portion (1), a retractable lid (6), a central hollow spool (2) having wide bottom end portion (3) and top end portion (4). The concave shaped moulding (8’) is also illustrated in this FIGURE.
Yet, in another embodiment the spool is partially closed at its top end to provide gripping portion (5) for lifting and carrying the dispensing unit. It acts as handle for carrying the dispensing unit. FIGURE 3 illustrate such an exemplary embodiment of the gripping portion (5).
In an exemplary embodiment, a single wire is spooled around the central hollow spool and stored and dispensed through this unit. In another exemplary embodiment, the plurality of wires are individually spooled around the central hollow spool of the bottom portion forming the vertical stack of spooled wires and the dispensing unit is closed by tightening the lid and one end of each wire is left outside the dispensing unit through the gap (9). Thus, multiple wires are simultaneously stored and dispensed through a single unit.
In alternative embodiment, two or more wire dispensing units may be stacked together. Each of these wire dispensing units may contain one or more wires stored inside as explained hereinbefore. In an exemplary embodiment, these units are stacked vertically. In this arrangement, the wire(s) from the lowest dispensing unit is/are drawn out through the gap (9) and passed through the central hollow spool portions of other dispensing units which are stacked above it. Similarly the wire(s) from other dispensing units is/are drawn out through the gap (9) and passed through the central hollow spool portions of dispensing units stacked above them. The end(s) of the wire(s) drawn from all dispensing units are pulled till appropriate height so that they matches the ends of wire(s) drawn from the topmost dispensing unit. In this manner two or more dispensing units can be stacked and multiple wires can be drawn simultaneously. It consumes less space and enables the user to work in compact area. This is very convenient arrangement for the user when there is limited working space. It also enables him to work in an organized manner. Different types of wires can be drawn out simultaneously from different dispensing units.
The manufacturing of this dispensing unit is very simple. The suitable materials for manufacture of the bottom portion (1) and the retractable lid (6) are selected from but not limited to High Density Polyethylene (HDPE), Low Density Polyethylene (LDPE), Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET, PETE), Polypropylene (PP), Polystyrene and Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC, Vinyl). Metals like aluminium, aluminium alloys and other commonly known alloys are also suitable for use in present invention. The pieces like bottom base, hollow spool, lid etc. can be manufactured by various available technique. The simplest one being using dies and moulds. The size of the components can be varied as per the requirements and accordingly the dispensing unit can be manufactured in different sizes.
The foregoing description of the specific embodiments will so fully reveal the general nature of the embodiments herein that others can, by applying current knowledge, readily modify and/or adapt for various applications such specific embodiments without departing from the generic concept, and, therefore, such adaptations and modifications should and are intended to be comprehended within the meaning and range of equivalents of the disclosed embodiments. It is to be understood that the phraseology or terminology employed herein is for the purpose of description and not of limitation. Therefore, while the embodiments herein have been described in terms of preferred embodiments, those skilled in the art will recognize that the embodiments herein can be practiced with modification within the spirit and scope.
