Abstract: ABSTRACT ANNEXURE - III Refer Fig 1 This is AC current sensing circuit with optical isolation and Pulse output.AC load current flows through the terminal (A) and (B).  The output pulse proportional to the input AC frequency is obtained at terminal (C). The Rshunt (3) is selected so that when the required load current flow the voltage drop across is more that the opto isolator"s diodes forward current. Specification

SPECIFICATION OF THE INVENTION

The circuit consists of opto-isolator (1) with current limiting resistor (2) parallel with shunt resistor (3) and a reverse diode (4). The external diode (4) revrese break down voltage should have safe voltage margin over the AC peak voltage to be measured. The load current will be carried by the shunt resistor path and will be selected such that it will have more than the opto diode forward voltage developed across it when the required current flows through the shunt. The out put of the opto can be pulled upto to 5V to give TTL pulse out when the load current is flowing. The components (1),(2) and (4) can be replaced with a bidirectional opto isolator and a current limiter.

CLAIMS

We claim that

1. This circuit can be used for AC load On/Off detect by checking the pulse signal out put.

2. This circuit can be sued for measuring the AC frequency.

3. This circuit can detect AC load On/Off with opto isolation

4. This circuit can be interfaced directly with TTL circuits or PCs to detect AC load On/Off
