Additive Manufacturing System Equipped With Both Powder And Wire Capabilities For Metal 3 D Printing

Abstract: The present invention discloses an additive manufacturing system (1) with powder and wire capabilities for metal 3D printing comprises a dual-head configuration assembly (2). This assembly includes a wire deposition head (3) and a powder deposition head (4), both mounted on a common axis to move together. The wire deposition head (3) deposits material in wire feedstock form, while the powder deposition head (4) deposits material in powder feedstock form. A carriage (6) connects to both heads, enabling movement along a hollow rectangular channel, allowing lateral movement. Vertical rails (7) facilitate independent vertical travel of each head to avoid obstructions during deposition. A laser source assembly (8) is connected to both heads, generating an input laser beam to move and automatically switch between the wire and powder deposition heads for printing in respective feedstock forms. This configuration enhances flexibility and efficiency in metal 3D printing processes. FIGURE 1
