Adhesive Coating Machine

Abstract: The present subject matter relates to an adhesive coating machine (100) for applying liquid adhesive (104) on a substrate (116). The adhesive coating machine (100) may comprise a tray (102) to store the liquid adhesive (104) and a shaft (110) installed above and along a length of the tray (102) and supported by a set of bearings (112) such that the shaft (110) can rotate about its axis. The adhesive coating machine (100) may further comprise a drum (114) mounted on across a length of the shaft (110) such that a portion of its circumferential surface (114-1) abuts with the liquid adhesive (104). The adhesive coating machine (100) may comprise a pair of first barrier (122) and a pair of second barrier (124) installed at a first distance (D1) and a second distance (D2) respectively to prevent spilled liquid adhesive (104) from reaching to the bearings (112).

CLIAMS:I/ We claim
1. An adhesive coating machine (100) to apply liquid adhesive (104) on a substrate (116), the adhesive coating machine (100) comprising:
a tray (102) to store the liquid adhesive (104);
a shaft (110) installed above and along a length of the tray (102), the shaft (110) being supported by a set of bearings (112) at a first end (300) and a second end, wherein the shaft (110) is to rotate about a shaft axis;
a drum (114) rotatably mounted across a length of the shaft (110), the drum (114) having a circumferential surface (114-1) and a first end surface (114-2) and a second end surface, wherein a portion of the circumferential surface (114-1) of the drum (114) is to abut with the liquid adhesive (104) in the tray (102) as the drum (114) rotates about the shaft axis to carry the liquid adhesive (104) on the circumferential surface (114-1) of the drum (114) to apply the liquid adhesive (104) on the substrate (116);
at least one pair of first barrier (122) installed on the shaft (110) such that each of the first barrier (122), amongst the at least one pair of the first barrier (122), is placed at a first distance (D1) from the first end surface (114-2) and the second end surfaces of the drum (114), wherein the pair of first barrier (122) is to protect the bearings (112) from unwanted liquid adhesive (104) splashes; and
a pair of second barrier (124) installed, wherein each of the second barrier (124), amongst the pair of the second barrier (124), is installed on an edge along the length of the tray (102) at a second distance (D2) from the first end surface (114-2) and the second end surface of the drum (114), wherein the pair of the second barrier (124) is to cover the pair of bearings (112) from unwanted liquid adhesive (104) splashes.

2. The adhesive coating machine (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the at least one the pair of the first barrier (122) and the pair of the second barrier (124) are ring-shaped.

3. The adhesive coating machine (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the pair of first barrier (122) and the pair of second barrier (124) are made from teflon.

4. The adhesive coating machine (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the first distance (D1) is about 120 mm.

5. The adhesive coating machine (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the second distance (D2) is about 170 mm.

6. The adhesive coating machine (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the pair of the second barrier (124) is substantially stationary with respect to the shaft.

7. The adhesive coating machine (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein at least a pair of the first barrier (122) is rotate with the shaft (110).

8. The adhesive coating machine (100) as claimed in claim 2, wherein the diameter of at least one of the pair of the first barrier (122) is larger than the diameter of the pair of the second barrier (124).
