Specification

THE FOLLOWING SPECIFICATION PARTICULARLY DESCRIBES THE
NATURE OF THE INVENTION

ADJUSTABLE MONITOR HOLDER
numbered as dated
FIELD OF TECHNOLOGY:
This invention generally relates to electronic devices and relates to holder or clamp and specifically to adjustable holder for display monitor holder and especially to computer monitor holder.
This invention may be more widely used in the field of medical equipments, more so for medical scanning devices or like medical equipments, where the display monitors are moved around in different angles depending on the patient position. This invention deals with holder for the monitor, which is adjustable independent of monitor base and provides a firm grip for the monitor, thereby facilitating an easy operation for the operator of the medical device. We describe here a method and apparatus for fixing a display monitor with an adjustable holder.
DESCRIPTION OF PRIOR ART:
A display device consists of a display monitor such as Cathode Ray Tube monitor(s) (hereinafter called as "CRT" display) and a body or a hardware device, wherein the display device can be raised from the body. In many apparatus such as ultrasound medical scanner the display devices are normally fixed to the hardware and moves around with the scanner. It is generally required from the viewpoint of patient

comfort the hardware (scanner) will be moved around and the display monitor may tip off or topple from the hardware. As permitted by the design of the scanner the display device can be fixed to the hardware firmly to avoid movement of the display monitor.
4. As such there are inventions supporting the display holder of computer monitor (US
Patent no. D357008), Computer monitor pad holder (US Patent no. 5092128),
Computer Monitor Memo Holder (US Patent no. 6273374). But any of the prior
art(s), including as stated above does not envisage the concept of present invention.
C) OBJECT OF THE INVENTION:
5. It is the primary object of the invention to invent an adjustable monitor holder without loss of usability.
6. It is another object of the invention to invent a variable diameter holder for display monitor.
7. It is another object of the invention to invent holder for display monitor whose diameter can be adjusted with a screw rod mechanism.
D) PROPOSED SOLUTION:
8. An apparatus and method is proposed here for fixing a display monitor wherein the
diameter of the holder is adjustable to suit monitor or monitors with different
diameter base.

9. In a second aspect, side fittings to the monitor holder are provided around the bottom of the display panel and adjustable rods are provided so that the side fits tight and makes the monitor firmly attached to holder. According to one aspect of the invention, in a hardware having a body and a display panel support is provided on all sides of the bottom of the display panel so as to fix the panel to prevent from side-to-side movement.
10. Proposed is a metallic circular structure with a slit and a rod fitted at the one end across the diameter with the tolerance in the monitor base for fixing the bases of monitor supplied by different manufacturers. The flexibility to different diameter by a screw adjustment is proposed. This enables the monitor base of different size can be mounted to the structure. The present way of using it is to mount the base by screws and bolting. The new design will make the user to adjust the diameter of the structure of the base monitor and fixes to the base without physical mounting of monitor and base with hardware.
11. Usage of this technique allows the display device to be fixed without physically mounting and holds firmly. This helps to move the monitor around according to patient position still holding the display device fixed to the hardware. The danger of loosing the display device from the hardware when moving the display device is prevented. This helps to increase the operator efficiency and safety.
E) BEST METHOD OF PERFORMANCE WITH BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DIAGRAM:
12. The invention presented here is implemented by designing a circular adjustable
holder for usage in medical equipment devices more so like Ultrasound scanner. As
shown in FIG A the circular adjustable holder marked as (1), which bears an inner
hole marked as (3) leading to a tubular metallic rod with the tolerance in the monitor

base marked as (5). The open end of the tubular metallic rod leading to the hole marked as 3. One end of the rod is fixed to the inner wall of the circular holder marked as (1) bears an inner thread to facilitate embodying of threaded screw marked as 4. As shown in Fib B, the circular adjustable holder is provided with an open end, marked as 9, which acts as a adjustable space holder to fit in monitor(s) having various diameters. The diameter of the circular holder as marked as 7 in Fig B, may be adjusted by knobbing the screw (marked as 4) into the tubular metallic rod (marked as 5) thereby forming an exact hold for the monitor(s) as shown in Fig (C) by a reduced diameter marked as (10) in Fig (E) shows the closed position of the holder with reduced diameter shown as 10. Fig (D) depicts the front face of the medical equipment, more so like an Ultrasound scanner wherein the open end of the circular adjustable space (marked as 9) may be tightened by proportionately knobbing the screw marked as 4.
F) SCOPE OF THE INVENTION:
13. The invention may be in the field of manufacturing Medical Equipments like Ultrasound devices like scanner, or any other like medical device components. The advantage(s) of this invention is to provide a simple but effective solution for adjustable monitor holder without loss of usability. As the primary object of the invention being to invent a variable diameter holder for display monitor and to invent a holder for display monitor whose diameter can be adjusted with a screw rod, the invention is novel and carries wide public utility in the field of manufacturing medical equipment.
14. Although the invention has been described with reference to specific embodiments, this invention is not to be construed in limiting sense. Various modification(s) of the disclosed embodiments, as well as alternate embodiments of the invention, will become apparent to persons skilled in the art upon reference to the description of

the invention. It is therefore contemplated that such modifications can be made without departing from the spirit or scope of the present invention as defined.

G) WE CLAIM:
The apparatus of a display monitor holder which achieves holding the monitor even while movement, holding monitors with different base diameter and avoids falling and getting displaced when moved around.
What is claimed is:
1. An apparatus and design of display monitor holder with variable diameter constituting:
(i) A circular section with a slit
(ii) A tubular metallic rod fixed to the above said circular section with the tolerance at one end
2. The method of claim 1, wherein said step of having variable diameter for holding display devices.
3. The method of claim 1, wherein said step of having display device of an ultra-sound scanner fixed to the hardware.
4. The method of claim 1, wherein said step of holding the display device firmly while moving the instrument around.

5. The method of claim 1, wherein the diameter of the circular section can be varying by knobbing the screw threaded to the rod fixed along the diameter of the circular section.
Dated this the 22nd day of August, 2005.
