Abstract: The present invention relates to an adjustable wheelchair device, comprising a wheelchair having a seat 1 designed in a manner to provide comfortability to a user while sitting in the wheelchair, multiple mechanical sliding channels 2 including rails fitted with one or more sliders installed in the seat 1 for shifting the seat 1 along with the user from the wheelchair to another place, multiple hydraulic struts 3 for elevating the seat 1 and footplate 4 to a user defined height, a motor in association with the channels 2 for assisting in transferring of the seat 1 to another place and a control panel configured with the wheelchair for controlling actuation of the motor by regulating movement of the channels and elevation of the seat 1 and footplate 4. FIELD OF THE INVENTION
[0001] The present invention relates to wheelchair. More particularly, the present invention is directed towards an adjustable wheelchair device for providing increased comfort to the user and effortlessly shifting patients from the wheelchairs to other places (i.e. bed, car and chair) in a convenient manner.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
[0002] A wheelchair is a chair equipped with the wheels that is employed when walking is difficult or impossible due to illness, injury or disabilities. Wheelchairs come in a wide variety of designs, shapes and structure to meet the specific needs of their users or patients. They comprise specialized seating adaptions, individualized controls, and may be specific to particular activities, as seen with sports wheelchairs and beach wheelchairs.
[0003] There are a wide variety of wheelchair, differing by propulsion method, mechanisms of control, and technology used. Some wheelchairs are designed for general use, others for single activities, or to address specific access needs.
[0004] For the most part, wheelchairs are designed to transport patients from one location to another with a minimum level of difficulty. Indeed, most wheelchairs include the capability for allowing the wheelchair occupant to move the chair of his own accord. Predominantly, this is done using human arm and hand power. However, there are those designs that involve motorized driving means.
[0005] WO1991012975A1. discloses about wheelchair (10, 10') including a wheeled base assembly (11, 11') provided with an upright assembly thereon, the latter including a pair of telescopic vertical post arrangements (31, 32, 31', 32') which are provided adjacent the front corners of the wheelchair and are vertically extendable and contractible. The upright assembly includes a pair of arms (38,
38') which are secured and cantilevered rearward from upper ends of the upright post arrangements (31, 32, 31', and 32'). A seat arrangement (13, 13') is removably attached to and positioned between the arms (38, 38') to facilitate transferring of an occupant, along with the seat assembly, either to or from the wheelchair.
[0006] In current era of technology, various devices are present for moving a disabled user from one place to another. However, these devices fail to reduce pain and injuries that arises during movement of the disabled user from wheelchairs to other furniture that are bed, chair, sofa etc.
[0007] Due to aforementioned drawbacks there exists a need to develop an efficient device capable of providing movement of the disabled users from one place to another as well as facilitating easy and comfortable transferring of the disabled users from the wheelchair to other desired places like beds, vehicle seats, etc. in a painless manner.
OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION
[0008] The principal object of the present invention is to overcome the disadvantages of the prior art.
[0009] An object of present invention is to provide a foldable wheelchair that occupies less space.
[0010] Another object of the present invention is to provide a device that effectively transfers a patient from the wheelchair to a desired place like beds, seats of car(s), etc.
[0011] Another object of the present invention is to provide a device capable of moving a patient/disabled user from one place to another in case of walking
abnormalities like leg injuries, leg pain, soreness and stiffness.
[0012] Yet another object of the present invention is to provide a device that operates automatically upon the voice commands of the user/patient.
[0013] The foregoing and other objects of the present invention will become readily apparent upon further review of the following detailed description of the preferred embodiment as illustrated in the accompanying drawings.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
[0014] The present invention is envisioned to an adjustable wheelchair device capable of shifting a disabled user from the wheelchair to a user desired place by avoiding the chances of unusual pains, injuries, etc.
[0015] According to an embodiment of present invention, an adjustable wheelchair device, comprising a wheelchair having a seat designed in a manner to provide comfortability to a user while sitting in the wheelchair, multiple mechanical sliding channels including rails fitted with one or more sliders installed in the seat for transferring the seat along with the user from the wheelchair to another place, wherein multiple ball bearings are attached to the rails and sliders for ensuring high load capacity and longer life by reducing friction, multiple hydraulic struts installed on base portion of the seat and in association with a footplate of the wheelchair for elevating the seat and footplate to a user defined height.
[0016] According to another embodiment of the present invention, a motor preferably an electrically powered motor in association with the sliding channels for assisting in shifting of the seat to another place, wherein the motor is connected with a battery preferably a rechargeable battery selected from but not limited to Li-ion battery for using electrical energy of the battery to convert into
mechanical energy in order to control the wheelchair movement and a control panel accessed by the user that is preferably selected from but not limited to mobile devices, laptops configured with the wheelchair for controlling actuation of the motor by regulating movement of the channels and elevation of the seat and footplate, wherein the control panel is configured with a processor preferably a Raspberry Pi 4 in order to operate the control panel and the control panel is configured with a voice control unit to control functioning of the wheelchair upon voice commands given by the user.

[0023] Referring to Figure 1, an isometric view of an adjustable wheelchair device is illustrated. The device, comprising a wheelchair having a seat 1 associated with the device, multiple sliding channels 2 including rails fitted with one or more sliders installed in the seat, multiple hydraulic struts 3 installed on a base portion of the seat 1 and in association with a footplate 4 of the wheelchair, an electrically powered motor in association with the sliding channels 2 and hydraulic struts 3 and a control panel configured with the wheelchair.
[0024] The wheelchair is a chair equipped with the wheels that is employed when walking is difficult or impossible due to illness, injury or disabilities. Wheelchairs come in a wide variety of designs, shapes and structure to meet the specific needs of their users or patients. The wheelchair is equipped with a seat 1 padded with soft cushions designed in a manner to provide comfortability to a user while sitting in the wheelchair. The wheelchair is also foldable in nature to occupy less
space and compactible enough to be placed anywhere.
[0025] The mechanical sliding channels 2 including rails fitted with one or more sliders installed in the seat for transferring the seat 1 along with the user from the wheelchair to an another place. Multiple ball bearings are attached to the rails and the sliders for ensuring high load capacity and longer life by reducing friction. The sliding channels 2 operate hydraulically in order move the seat 1 on the sliders to a nearby place such as a bed or seats of vehicles in order to transfer the disabled user effectively from the wheelchair to the desired place reducing the chances of pains, injuries, etc.
[0026] The sliding channels 2 installed in the seat 1 is so adaptable in nature that easily fits with the surface of the desired place where the disabled user is wished to transfer providing a suitable platform for the patients to move from the wheelchair to that desired place. The sliders effectively move the seat 1 in the defined direction without causing any wear and tear due to the presence of the ball bearings.
[0027] Multiple hydraulic struts 3 are installed on the base portion of the seat 1 and in association with a footplate 4 of the wheelchair for elevating the seat 1 and footplate 4 to a user defined height. The footplate 4 are installed in the seat 1 in order to provide a platform for resting the leg portion of the patient or a disabled person. The hydraulic struts 3 helps in moving the seat 1 of the wheelchair in an up and down motion according to the requirement of the user. The hydraulic struts 3 also moves the footplate 4 up to a user defined height to provide comfortability and relax to the user while sitting in the wheelchair.
[0028] The motor is preferably an electrically powered motor in association with the sliding channels 2 for assisting in shifting of the seat 1 from the wheelchair to other places like beds, car seats in order to move the patient from the wheelchair to the desired place comfortably. The electrically powered motor is connected
with a battery for using electrical energy of the battery to convert into the mechanical energy in order to control the wheelchair. The battery is a rechargeable battery preferably selected from but not limited to Li-ion battery, Li-polymer battery and Lead-acid battery.
[0029] The control panel is configured in the wheelchair for controlling actuation of the motor by regulating the movement of the mechanical sliding channels 2 and elevation of the seat 1 and footplate 4. The control panel is accessed by the user in order to provide inputs to regulate the functioning of the wheelchair. The control panel is preferably selected from but not limited to mobile devices, laptops, etc. The control panel is configured with a processor preferably a Raspberry Pi 4 in order to operate the control panel.
[0030] The Raspberry Pi is a series of small single board computers. The Raspberry Pi 4 includes a 1.5 GHz 64-bit quad core ARM Cortex-A72 processor, on board 802.1 lac Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5, full gigabit Ethernet, two USB 2.0 ports, two USB 3.0 ports, and dual monitor support (4K resolution). The Pi 4 is also powered via a USB-C port, enabling additional power to be provided to downstream peripherals.
[0031] The control panel is configured with a voice control unit to control functioning of the wheelchair upon receiving the voice commands given by the user. The patient easily gives voice commands that is processed by the Raspberry Pi 4 processor inbuilt in the control panel to perform different operations of the wheelchair accordingly.
[0032] According to an alternative embodiment, the apparatus may be installed with a vibrating units incorporated within the seat of the wheelchair for providing massage to the patient at micro-levels to keep the patient away from unusual pains, fatigue, stiffness and soreness.

It is intended, therefore, by the appended claims to cover all such modifications and changes as fall within the true spirit and scope of the disclosure.
I Claim:
1. An adjustable wheelchair device, comprising;
i. a wheelchair having a seat 1 designed in a manner to provide comfortability to a user while sitting in said wheelchair;
ii. plurality of mechanical sliding channels 2 including rails fitted with one or more sliders installed in said seat 1 for effortlessly shifting said seat along with said user from said wheelchair to another place;
iii. plurality of hydraulic struts 3 installed on base portion of said seat 1 and in association with a footplate 4 of said wheelchair for elevating said seat 1 and footplate 4 to a user defined height;
iv. an electrically powered motor in association with said sliding channels 2 for assisting in shifting of said seat 1 to said another place; and
v. a control panel configured in said wheelchair for controlling actuation of said motor and hydraulic struts in order to regulate movement of said sliding channels and elevation of said seat 1 and footplate 4.
2. The device as claimed in claim 1, wherein multiple ball bearings are attached to said rails and sliders for ensuring high load capacity and longer life by reducing friction.
3. The device as claimed in claim 1, wherein said hydraulic struts 3 operate hydraulically.
4. The device as claimed in claim 1, wherein said electrically powered motor is connected with a battery for using electrical energy of said battery to convert into mechanical energy in order to control said wheelchair.
5. The device as claimed in claim 1 or 4, wherein said battery is a rechargeable battery preferably selected from but not limited to Li-ion battery, Li-polymer battery and Lead-acid battery.
6. The device as claimed in claim 1, wherein said control panel is accessed by said user and is preferably selected from but not limited to mobile devices, laptops.
7. The device as claimed in claim 1, wherein said control panel is configured with a processor preferably a Raspberry Pi 4 in order to operate said control panel.
8. The device as claimed in claim 1, wherein said control panel is configured with a voice control unit to control functioning of said wheelchair upon voice commands given by said user.
