Abstract: A turbine bucket (11) and wheelpost (13) assembly reduces the number the number of buckets (11) in at least one of the stages of the turbine from 92 to 60 while reducing stresses at the assemble pointes of the buckets (11) and wheelposts (13) the buckets (11) and wheelsposts (13) being formed with complementary fillets (25,26,27,31,32,33) and tangs (22,23,24,28,29,30) that provide for the insertion of the bucket (11) into the broach slot (12) between two wheelpost (13). The angles of the tang (22,23,24,28,29,30) surface on both the bucket (11) and wheelpost (13) range from 50 to 57. The upper surface of the wheelpost (11) is scalloped to reduce weight and the tangs (22,23,24,28,29,30) of both the bucket (11) and wheelpost (13) are formed from curved 200,203,206,209,210,211,212,213,215,216,219,222,223,224,225,227,228) and straight (201,202,204,205,207,208,214,215,217,218,220,221) surfaces to reduce stresses on the assembly.
