1 INTRODUCTION
A system comprising of components to distribute content(s) to the homes of subscribers, manage digital playback rights for playback of the first-day-first-show and catalogue movies and a device to playback such content at the subscribers end is described herein.
The system will further include a novel sub-system referred to as the "predictor module" hereafter, for predicting user preferences for content selection out of a catalogue of content, based upon a static component that incorporates the users profile on record, in combination with a dynamic component whose prediction model is continuously refined based upon a record of expression of his choice.
The system will attempt to make the anticipated subscribers preferred content by using inputs such as (a) the mood of the user (b) time of day (c) number of persons present (d) gender of those present (e) friends or family amongst those present.
These provided input to the prediction model in addition to generic option viz, (i) director (2) star cast (3) music composer (4) cinematographer (5) lyricist etc.
2.0 Detailed Description
The system described above will be a unique offering for the first time in the world, which will enable customers to view on-demand (VoD) first-day-first show cinema content along with other catalogue and generic at their homes, using a specially designed playback unit, that is functionally tightly integrated with a central site from where content is downloaded and playback rights managed.
The playback unit is capable of holding approximately 50 moves at any given point of time. Rights to the content(s) are managed from the central site, and once the user purchases such a right(s), he can view the content(s).

Over a period of time, a new release will roll over into the "catalogue" section, and the price for playback for such catalogue content will be significantly lesser that that for the "premium first-day-first-show content" offered for viewing within a short window after release.
In addition to the on-demand offering of the first-day-first-show content, the central system will also "push" content which is selected out of a catalogue of content to the playback unit at the subscriber end.
The playback unit at the subscriber end will therefore receive set of "churn" content every week, which is a set of movies that will be selected based upon the recommendations made by a "predictor module" that is part of the system being patented herein.
The "predictor module" will attempt to estimate the subscriber's preferences for content, and mark them as part of a "churn list" destined for his playback unit.
Based upon subscriber feedback and a multitude of other inputs, the "intelligence" behind selection of content will be constantly refined so as to enable a very accurate prediction, and provide maximum customer satisfaction along with optimal utilization of download bandwidth.
The parameters used by the "predictor module" to make its selections will include for the first time ever things like
