, Description:FIELD OF THE INVENTION:
The present invention relates to an air cooling apparatus. Particularly to an evaporative air cooler with a movable water tank. More particularly to detachable water tank which can be easily removed, cleaned and reattached.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION:
The principles of evaporative air-cooling have been exploited for several decades by man in several countries of the world to obtain relief from uncomfortable hot weather. Air coolers are more effective in dry, hot tropical locations. For effective working of an evaporative air cooler, water plays an important role. The quality of water used in an air cooler may not be always good of due to which after a period of use, the water tank is required to be cleaned to ensure cleanliness and prevent scale formation.
Present day air coolers typically comprise of a body, a water tank, fibre pads (of different possible materials), air moving device (axial or centrifugal or cross flow fans) and water circulation system. A motorized air moving device mounted within the body of the air cooler - with fibre pads on at least one of the sides of the air cooler - blows the cool air from the air outlet (usually at front or top of the air cooler). The loosely woven fibres of the fibre pads are made of hay or cellulose. In case when fibre pads are made of hay, hay wool is filled in the cotton net of the fibre pad and in the case when fibre pads are made of cellulose, the fibre pad consist of paper and special adhesive with multiple layer of corrugated paper arranged in honeycomb manner. The fibres of the pads are kept wetted using a water distribution system. The water tank of an air cooler is fixed to the housing of the air cooler and often it is cumbersome to fill water in the tank, and, also cumbersome and difficult to clean the tank completely.
PROBLEMS ASSOCIATED WITH THE PRIOR ART:
During the running of the air cooler, dust from air is washed into the water. Usually, dust and salts in water settle at the surface of the water tank which results in scaling. Therefore, the tank needs to be cleaned properly to ensure consistent air quality delivered by air cooler. Often, such cleaning is done by draining the water, but limited access to the tank bottom surface prevents proper cleaning.
While filling water into the air cooler, continuous monitoring of water level is required in the absence of which water would either not be filled optimally or would overflow resulting in spilling with wet and dirty floor. The overflow of the water from the tank can also, at times, effect the smooth functioning of internal parts, mainly electrical parts, of the air cooler.
Another issue with the water filling in the air cooler is the rate of water filling. Water in an air cooler is often filled with the help of external pipe or with water filled vessel. With help of pipe, water is filed slowly which takes time, further if the tank is filed with the help of vessel which in itself is tedious and cumbersome.
Therefore, it would be advantageous to develop an air cooler that can be easily filled with water. In addition, it would be advantageous to develop such an air cooler in which the water tank can be easily cleaned. In addition, it would be advantageous to develop an air cooler in which the water tank can be easily removed, refilled and reattached to the air cooler, without any special tool.
OBJECT OF THE INVENTION:
The object of the present invention is an air cooler with a removable water tank. further object of the invention is to ensure that the removing / detaching the water tank (the tank serving as water reservoir) from the cooler is smooth such that the task does not need special tools for such removal of the water tank.
Another object of the present invention is to provide an arrangement where such removable water tank can be easily removed from the air cooler, carried to a water source for filling and then placed back into the air cooler.

In order to more clearly and fully describe the invention, an embodiment is described in detail here below with reference to the drawings in which: Figure 1 is a perspective view of the air cooler in its assembled form; Figure 2 is an exploded view of the cooler illustrating the main component parts thereof; Figure 3 shows the bottom view of the tank.
In the preferred embodiment, referring to FIG. 1 and FIG. 2 evaporative air cooler (10) comprises an evaporative cooler body (11) which itself comprises of front panel (12), back panel (13), base tank (17), a tank assembly (14) comprising a tank(17), optional tank lock (15), optional wheels/Castors (16) which are arranged to provide removable tank movement, outer grill (18), are assembled in the cooler body in known manner. It will be realised that not all parts of the air cooler unit have been shown.
In accordance with this invention, a provision is made for a water tank (17) preferably constructed from injection moulded plastic material, located beneath of front panel (12) or back panel (13). In another embodiment, referring to FIG. 2 and FIG. 3 the water tank (17) comprises a shallow tank portion (19) is covered by outer covering (20) and a scoop (21) located in centre of tank (17). The bottom surface (22) of the tank (17) is always closed.
The water tank (17) is readily fitted in position by engaging optional tank lock (15), which is fixed on the backside of back panel (13). In addition, both side of tank (17) is formed with radial surface (23). This enables the tank (17) to be accurately located. The location for tank (17) can be suitably made in different possible manner too, and thereby it can be fitted to any of the panels of the housing or any of the inner structural parts of the air cooler.
The invention allow removing / detaching the tank from the air cooler very easily by manual operation and without a need for any special tool, such tank can be easily removed from the air cooler
Advantages of the current invention:
1) Removable tank in the context of this innovation means a method of removing / detaching the tank from the air cooler very easily by manual operation and without a need for any special tool, such tank can be easily removed from the air cooler. Such tank can then be taken to water source for filling and then attached back to the air cooler.
2) This eliminates a need for lifting heavy water containers to fill the water in the tank that is fitted / mounted in the air cooler.
3) The water filling in air cooler of prior art has to be done slowly because normally the opening for water filling are small. However, when the tank is removed, the entire top surface of the tank is then open and this makes the task of water filling very fast and easy.
4) At times, during filling of water from relatively small opening of the air cooler for water inlet, often the water spills out on the floor. This makes the floor wet and dirty. This problem is eliminated in the case of removable tank.
5) Since tank can be removed, it can be easily washed and cleaned to remove salt and dust deposits, prior to refilling. This helps improved routine cleaning of water and results into better quality of air delivered from the air cooler.
6) Once the tank is removed, rest of the internal parts of the air cooler also can be easily accessed. This helps in easier servicing / maintenance of the air cooler when so needed
In addition to the above mentioned embodiments, it is to be understood that various modifications and alterations with regard to the types of the materials used, their method of joining together, and the attachments, and, the shape of the air cooler, the structure of the air cooler, the shapes / dimensions / orientations of the components as describes, the absence of certain optional components as described, and/or function may be made to the disclosed embodiments by one skilled in the art without departing from the invention as defined by the claims.
Accordingly, the above disclosure is not to be considered as limiting and the appended claims are to be interpreted as encompassing the entire spirit and scope of the invention.
