TECHNICAL FIELD
[001] The present invention is related to an air purifier device. More particularly, the
present invention is related to an air purifier device for removing harmful impurities from air present in environment.
BACKGROUND
[002] Background description includes information that may be useful in understanding the
present invention. It is not an admission that any of the information provided herein is prior art or relevant to the presently claimed invention, or that any publication specifically or implicitly referenced is prior art.
[003] Air pollution is becoming a major concern in present scenario with degrading Air
Quality Index (AQI) levels in most cities of world, the AQI levels are relatively higher as
recommended by World Health Organization (WHO). The air pollution can occur when a
harmful or excessive quantity of air pollutant gases including but not limited to Benzene,
Trichloroethylene, Xylene, Formaldehyde Ammonia, Nitrogen Dioxide (NO2), Sulphur Dioxide
(SO2), and Suspended Particulate Matter (both organic and inorganic) are established in
environment. Most air pollutant particles which are harmful or undesirable have a particle size
smaller than 8 microns, for example, dust and fly ash have a particle size of about 1 micron,
bacteria and virus have particle range from 0.6 microns to 0.8 microns, pollen as an air pollutant
have size upto 7 microns. These air pollutants can have serious effects on human health causing
lung cancer, respiratory diseases, bronchitis, and chronic lung diseases, thereby can increase risk
of heart attacks, affects cardiovascular health, and moreover, air pollution can be linked to brain
diseases such as Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's disease, and schizophrenia.
[004] An air purifier removes air pollutant contamination or suspended particles present in
environment thereby improving air quality in the environment. Most commonly air purifiers with chemical filters are used by patients who are suffering from asthma or having any type of allergies. Traditionally, air purifier plants such as devil's ivy or pothos, dwarf date palm, peace lily, philodendron, spider plant, chrysanthemums, rubber plants, and boston fern were used in homes for purifying air naturally. Air plant purifiers cannot remove unpleasant odour of air, and
moreover, certain compounds present in air purifying plants can cause allergic reactions such as
hay fever, tiny flakes on hair or skin, and dust mite to humans who are living nearby these plants.
[005] In an existing technique, air purifier with chemical filters uses a plurality of chemical
filters placed at a proximal distance to each other, uses ion exchange method in a liquid and gases, thereby chemically removing air pollutants and converting the air pollutants into other products with help of chemical reactions. In another existing technique, air purifier with chemical filter releases negatively charged ions into atmosphere to enable the air pollutants to stick on the chemical filter of the air purifiers. A major disadvantage of using above techniques are chemical filters of air purifier need to be replaced in very short time thereby increasing inconvenience and cost of the air purifier, furthermore small particulates and viruses from the environment cannot be efficiently removed by the air purifier.
[006] There is, therefore, a need in the art to provide an air purifier device that overcomes
unpleasant smell of air, viruses and bacteria present in air, and small particle size of air pollutant in the existing solutions and utilize techniques, which are robust, portable, quiet, efficient, and cost-effective device.
