Air Sterilization Device And Air Conditioning Apparatus Using Same

Abstract: Provided is an air sterilization device which has excellent applicability to rectangular ducts and makes it possible to effectively irradiate dusts, bacteria, viruses and the like in circulating air with ultraviolet ray while preventing the increase in ventilation resistance. The air sterilization device is provided with a rectangular frame, an ultraviolet ray-emitting unit, and first reflection surfaces. The frame has: a pair of first opposite sides that are separated from each other in a first direction and extend along a second direction; and a pair of second opposite sides that are separated from each other in the second direction and extend along the first direction. Inside the frame, a ventilation space in which air flows along a third direction that is approximately vertical to the first direction and the second direction is partitioned. The ultraviolet ray-emitting unit is provided on at least one of the pair of first opposite sides and emits ultraviolet ray toward the ventilation space. The first reflection surfaces are respectively provided on the pair of first opposite sides so as to face each other, in which a center part in the third direction in each of the first reflection surfaces is recessed while expanding toward the outside the ventilation space and reflects the ultraviolet ray. The length of the ventilation space in the third direction is shorter than the length of the ventilation space in the first direction and the length of the ventilation space in the second direction, and the shape of each of the first reflection surfaces in an arbitrary cross section vertical to the second direction is defined on the basis of an arc having a curvature radius that is equal to or larger than the distance between the pair of first reflection surfaces.
