This invention relates to Alfaalfa (General) composition in Homoeopathy and
the process for preparing the same for use in conditions such as general
debility, weakness emaciation, loss of appetite, etc.
BACKGROUND
In present day life everyone goes through tremendous stress and tensions
which affects the immune system of the body and weakens it. Alfalfa has
been formulated to help the body's immune system to combat the situation for
anxiety states and stress situations, especially for people who are overworked
and feel drained out in the process, persons with general debility, weakness
emaciation, loss of appetite, for patients recovering from prolonged illness, in
the convalascent stages following viral illness or after acute or chronic bouts
of diarrhoea.lt also helps overcome fatigue and anaemic conditions in
pregnant women and lactating mothers. An homoeopath would prescribe
Alfalfa to a person where there are disorders characterised by malnutrition
like nervousness and insomnia. For a person with weakness after
haemorrhage Cinchona officinalis could be prescribed.
An alcoholic person who suffers from sleeplessness and weakness of genital
organs, Avena Sativa and Ginseng would be prescribed.
The object of this invention is to simplify the prescription by doctor for a
large group of patients and to cover wider spectrum symptoms in conditions
such as general debility, weakness emaciation and loss of appetite in a single
Homoeopathic composition consisting of ingredients made from herbs and
chemical salts.
To achieve said objective, this invention provides Alfalfa (General)
composition for a wider spectrum of symptoms, comprising of the following
ingredients:
(\) Alfalfa
(ii) Avena sativa
(iii) Ginseng
(iv) Cinchona officinalis
(v) Hydrastis canadensis
(vi) Kali arsenicosum
(vii) Ferrum aceticum
(viii) Vanadium
(ix) Kali phosphoricum,
potencies for ingredients (vi) to (ix) being in the range of 3-8 on decimal
scale. However, no potentisation is required for ingredients (i) to (v).
The chemical names of chemical salts are :
Kali arsenicosum: Potassium arsenite
Femim aceticum: Ferric acetate
Kali phosphoricum: Potassium phosphate
Ingredient (vii), namely vanadium is a metal.
In the aforesaid composition, the following ingredients are obtained from
herbal extracts: Alfalfa, Avena sativa, Ginseng, Cinchona ofFicinalis and
Hydrastis Canadensis. Said ingredients are extracted in alcohol as per the
Homoeopathic Pharmacopia of India (HPI). Furthermore, no potentisation of
any of said ingredients are required.
The chemical ingredients (vi) to (ix) are triturated in lactose to pre-detennined
potency.
Since the above composition is in a liquid form, the alcohol content in said
composition is approximately 9% WAV of said composition.
The composition so obtained are prescribed by doctors depending upon the
acuteness of the patient's condition. Normally, the dosage prescribed is 2
tablespoon three times daily.
This invention further includes a process of preparing Alfalfa composition
comprising:
(a) preparing a sugar syrup by adding sugar to purified water
(b) adding to said syrup, sodium benzoate(QI^C(^Na)
.(c) obtaining individually extracts of the herbal ingredients
namely,Alfalfa ,Avena sativa,Ginseng, Cinchona officinalis and
Hydrastis canadensis in alcohol,
(d) individually triturating the chemical ingredients in lactose to the
pre-determined potency,
(e) adding to the sugar syrup the ingredients one at a time,
(f) adding to said composition, preservatives such as methyl parabin
and propyl parabin,
(g) adding exciepient q.s(quantity sufficient) to make the weight
upto 100 grams,and
(h) filte.r th-e composition
Tlie invention will, now, be described witli reference to the following
examples.
Example 1
The Alfalfa composition is prepared by mixing
following ingredients:
Ingredients Potency
(I) Alfalfa
(ii) Avena sativa
(iii) Ginseng
(iv) Cinchona officinalis
(v) Hydrastis canadensis
(vi) Kali arsenicosum
(vii) Ferrum aceticum
(viii) Vanadium
(ix) Kali phosphoricum
The process comprises of preparing a sugar syrup by adding to purified water,
adding to said syrup preservative sodium benzoate, obtaining individually ally
extracts of the herbal ingredients namely, Alfalfa ,Avena
sativa,Ginseng,Cinchona officinalis and Hydrastis canadensis in alcohol,
individually triturating the chemical ingredients in lactose to the predetermined
potency, adding to the sugar syrup the ingredients one at a time,
adding to said composition, preservatives such as methyl parabin and propyl
parabin, adding exciepient q.s(quantity sufficient) to make the weight upto
100 grams,and filtering the composition.
The solution is known as Alfalfa and are prescribed for patients depending
upon the age and acuteness of the condition. Even the patients can
themselves take this solution depending upon the condition of the patients
without doctors prescription. Normally, the dosage prescribed is 2
tablespoons three times a day. The details of the treatment are given in the
clinical report.
Example 2 :
Ingredients Potency
(I) Alfalfa
(ii) Avena sativa
(iii) Ginseng
(iv) Cinchona officinalis
(v) Hydrastis canadensis
(vi) Kali arsenicosum
(vii) Ferrum aceticum
(viii) Vanadium
(ix) Kali phosphoricum
INDICATIONS
The composition prepared from the above mentioned ingredients are
prescribed for persons who do go through stress, strain and tensions which
effect the immune system of the body, resulting in general debility, weakness
emaciation, less of appetite, etc.
CLINICAL TRIALS
The following tables indicate the clinical trial results & doses for the
rreatement of symptoms such as general debility, weakness emanciation, loss
of appetite,etc.
