FIELD OF THE INVENTION

The present invention is generally related to a chassis of a work vehicle, particularly the present invention is related to an adaptive wheel base assembly for a work vehicle.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

US publication no. 20080116665 discloses a vehicle having an adjustable wheel base, wherein the front wheels of the vehicle having an adjustable wheel base are joined to the front portion of a main frame, on which a vehicle seat is mounted. The upper ends of a pair of rotating arms are rotatably joined to the main frame. The lower ends of the rotating arms are rotatably joined to the rear wheels. The upper arms and the lower arm are provided rotatably connected together such that the main frame and the rear wheels are joined at the back of the rotating arms. The operating portion of the operating apparatus, on which the main frame is installed, is joined via the operating links to the rotating arms. By operating the operating apparatus, the rotating arms are rotated by the operating links and the rear wheels are moved with respect to the front wheels. Simultaneously, the inclination of the main frame is changed.
The above cited document describes about the adjustment of wheel base by adjusting the inclination of the seat, wherein the said invention comprises many linkages to provide the means of adjusting the wheel base.

Chinese application no. 201410097309.7 discloses a device for adjusting the wheel base, the automobile body height and the minimum ground clearance and an automobile with the device, and relates to the technical field of automobiles. The device solves the problems that an automobile or a commercial vehicle is poor in trafficability performance and bad in visual field when driven on a complex road condition, and a cross country vehicle is bad in high-speed stability, large in wind resistance and poor in comfort. According to the adjusting device, two back chassis retraction adjusting devices are symmetrically arranged along the center line of an automobile body, a retractable pipe is fixed on a back chassis of the automobile, the included angle between the oblique section and the horizontal section of a retractable rod is an obtuse angle, the oblique section of the retractable rod is upwards inserted into the retractable pipe from the lower end of the retractable pipe, the horizontal section of the retractable rod is connected with an automobile cab chassis, and a retraction assembly moves in a retraction mode through mechanical connection or hydraulic pressure. The automobile comprises the automobile body and the adjusting device. The automobile body comprises an automobile frame and a deformable outer shell attached to the automobile frame. The deformable outer shell comprises an outer shell back portion and an outer shell middle portion. The adjusting device can adjust the wheel base, the automobile body height and the minimum ground clearance.

From the above prior arts, adjusting the wheel is not feasible for the farmers in terms of cost efficiency and also it is complex for farmers to adjust the wheel base of the vehicle. Therefore there is need in the art to provide an adaptive wheel base assembly for a work vehicle to vary the wheel base without addition of linkages or complex mechanisms.

OBJECTIVES OF THE INVENTION

An objective of the present invention is to provide an adaptive wheel base assembly for a work vehicle, for varying the wheelbase to meet plurality of application requirements such as agriculture and haulage purposes, without any major changes in the structure of the vehicle.

Another objective of the present invention is to provide an adaptive wheel base assembly for a work vehicle, which is easy to assemble and require no complex mechanisms.

an axle (101), a supporting means (102), mounted on top centre of the axle (101). The supporting means (102) is mounted to the axle (101) with a plurality clamps and securing elements. In an alternate embodiment, position of the supporting means (102) can be varied with respect to the axle (101). As illustrated in figure 4, the supporting means (102) comprises at least two end, including a first end (113) and a second end (114), wherein the engine block (not shown) is installed at the second end (114) and behind the axle (101).
A plurality of pair of holes are associated with the supporting means (102) at the surface, including a first pair of holes (109a, 109b), a second pair of holes (110a, 110b), a third pair of holes (111a, 111b) and a fourth pair of holes (112a, 112b), wherein said axle (101) can be installed on any of the alternate pair of holes. For example, the axle (101) can be installed on the first pair of holes (109a, 109b) and the third pair of holes (111a, 111b), thus the wheel base of the work vehicle is 2000mm. In an another example, the axle (101) can be installed on the second pair of holes (110a, 110b) and the fourth pair of holes (112a, 112b) thus the wheel base of the work vehicle is 1900mm. For longer wheel base, the vehicle can be used for haulage applications, which will avoid the front lifting of the vehicle. For shorter wheel base, the vehicle can be used for paddy field applications.
