Specification

FIELD OF INVENTION

The invention generally relates to an adjustable foot-rest system for the brake-operating foot of the driver of a motor vehicle.

BACKGROUND
Generally in motor vehicles which have a hand-operated throttle and a foot-operated brake, frequent up or down movement of foot during use of the vehicle. Due to gap between the level of the vehicle floor and the foot brake frequent movement become troublesome as foot level keep changing and creates discomfort for the driver.
There is a requirement of the system which can provide a way to keep minimum difference between driver's foot and brake.

SUMMARY
Subject matter herein described is providing a footrest designed to support the driver's foot during brake application. It minimizes the fatigue caused due to the moving foot out of the comfort zone during brake application by minimizing the level difference between the driver's foot and the foot brake of the vehicle. The proposed footrest system is designed in such a manner that the driver can customize the footrest height and inclination based on his comfort zone for foot movement.

The adjustable foot-rest system for the brake-operating foot of the driver of a motor vehicle, according to this invention, comprises a footrest provided adjacent to the brake pedal of the motor vehicle, the footrest intended for receiving the brake-operating foot of the driver, when the said foot is not in operation, at least one member on which the footrest is supported, the inclination and the height of the said member with respect to the floor-board of the interior of the vehicle being adjustable to predetermined positions.

These and other features, aspects, and advantages of the present subject matter will become better understood with reference to the following description and appended claims.

This summary is provided to introduce a selection of concepts in a simplified form. This summary is not intended to identify key features or essential features of the claimed subject matter, nor is it intended to be used to limit the scope of the claimed subject matter.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
The present invention will become more fully understood from the detailed description given herein below and the accompanying drawing which is incorporated in and constitute embodiments of the invention, illustrate several aspects of the invention and together with a description of the embodiments serve to explain the principles of the invention and thus, are not limited of the present invention and a brief description of the drawing is as follows:

Fig 1 is a depiction of prior exists in respect of claimed system.

Fig 2 provides the arrangement of embodiments of the claimed system.

Fig 3 - Fig 5 shows the assembling arrangements of the claimed foot rest system

DETAILED DESCRIPTION
The embodiments disclosed below are not intended to be exhaustive or to limit the invention to the precise forms disclosed in the following detailed description. Rather, the embodiments are chosen and described so that others skilled in the art may utilize their teachings. The invention may have application to all types of vehicles. The scope of the invention is entirely based upon the claims provided.

Fig 1 however depicts the known system. In the proposed invention (Figure no.2), a modular design of footrest (3) is provided near brake pedal (1) which is adjustable along direction X, Y and about the U axis (Figure no.4). Based on the comfort zone for foot movement, footrest (3) can be customized for every driver.

Base bracket (6) having hole (A1) of a required diameter is fixed on the floor-board (2) with the help of a bolt (4) and a nut (5) which fix the footrest (3) on the floor-board (2) (figure no.3). Top bracket (7) is welded with Foot plate (8). An equal number of holes (H1,H2 ...and h1,h2...) with the same pitch are provided on Base bracket (6) and Top bracket (7).

To adjust the minimum height of the footrest, holes (H1 and H7) of Base bracket (6) and holes (hi and h7) of Top bracket (7) are matched and fastened together. Other heights are adjusted in a similar manner.

To adjust the inclination about the U axis, one hole (H1) of Base bracket (6) and one hole (hi) of Top bracket (7) are pivoted together and Top bracket (7) with footplate (8) are rotated (either clockwise or anticlockwise about the U axis) in such a way to match alternate consecutive holes (H3, H5) of Base bracket (6) and holes (h3, h5) of Top bracket (7). Other inclinations are adjusted in a similar manner.

Unlike the existing design (figure no.1), in which there is no provision of footrest (3) which can be customized based on driver operating comfort zone, a modular design of footrest (3) is provided in the proposed embodiment to suit the requirement of driver comfort. In the existing layout there is a chance of muscular fatigue occurring due to the lifting up and down of the leg.

The proposed design will minimize the muscular fatigue. It will be appreciated that various other embodiments of this invention are possible without departing from its scope and ambit.

WHAT IS CLAIMED IS
1. An adjustable foot-rest system for the brake-operating foot of the driver of a motor vehicle comprising a footrest provided adjacent to the brake pedal of the motor vehicle, the footrest intended for receiving the brake-operating foot of the driver, when the said foot is not in operation, at least one member on which the footrest is supported, the inclination and the height of the said member with respect to the floor-board of the interior of the vehicle being adjustable to predetermined positions.

2. An adjustable foot-rest system as claimed in claim 1 wherein the said member is adjustably fixed to the interior of the body of the vehicle.

3. An adjustable foot rest system as claimed in claim 1 which can be extended to foot operated clutch

4. An adjustable foot-rest system for the brake-operating foot of the driver of a motor vehicle substantially as herein described and illustrated in the accompanying drawings.
