[002] Background description includes information that may be useful in understanding the present invention. It is not an admission that any of the information provided herein is prior art or relevant to the presently claimed invention, or that any publication specifically or implicitly referenced is prior art.
[003] Generally, sedan rear seats are fixed type, i.e.-without reclining. As seat back is fixed, seat back adjustment is not possible and there is discomfort to occupant during long runs. Hence to avoid this discomfort with existing space constraint, there exists a need of a seat slouching arrangement to recline the rear seat as and when required for comfort.
[004] In one of the existing arts- US9358906, seat is enabled to have more than one seating positions through moving cushion forward and backward by pivots and links through drive motor mechanism, backrest moves along with cushion through pivots and links. Seat cushion is connected to body floor with links and pivot. Also, seat back rest is connected with body through pivot and links.
[005] In other existing art- US7568764, seat is having more seating position through moving cushion forward and backward by pivots and links, backrest rotating about pivot and sliding up and down. Seat cushion is connected to body floor with pivot and links. Seat back rest is connected to body with pivot at bottom and latch at top.
[006] In another existing art- US7229118, seat can have more seating position through cushion/seat bottom slide, seat back rotating and seat back sliding. Sear cushion is connected to body through slider.
[007] Further, in another existing art- JP2010264954(A), seat can have more seating position though back seat moving forward and cushion sinking down. Seat cushion is connected to body floor with link and pivots.
[008] However, the existing seat adjustment structures are complex and there still remains a need of an improved and simple mechanism to achieve adjustable slouch rear seat for a vehicle, especially where the back of the seat is pivoted on a vehicle rear.
OBJECTIVES OF THE INVENTION
[009] It is therefore the object of the invention to overcome the aforementioned and other drawbacks existing in prior systems.
[0010] Another object of the present invention is to provide an adjustable slouch rear seat that overcomes the problem of the prior art.
[0011] Another object of the present invention is to provide an adjustable slouch rear seat with a link mechanism for achieving slouch positioning in a vehicle.
[0012] Yet another object of the present invention is to provide improved adjustable slouch rear seat with a link mechanism where top end of seat back rest is pivoted on the vehicle rear.

[0036] Hereinafter an adjustable slouch rear seat (100) for a vehicle will be 10 explained in detail.
[0037] Referring to figure 1, which illustrates side view of an adjustable slouch rear seat for a vehicle, according to an embodiment of the present invention. The adjustable slouch rear seat (100) has a first link (101) pivoted on the vehicle rear at a top end (101a) of the first link (101). A seat back rest (105) is fixed on a front 15 surface of the first link (101). A slider (103) is permitted for a linear movement on a fixed base. A seat cushion (104) is fixed on a top surface of the slider (103). A second link (102) is provided with a first end (102a) and a second end (102b). The first end (102a) is pivoted on a bottom end (101b) of the first link (101) and the second end (102b) is pivoted on a rear end (103a) of the slider (103).
20 [0038] The slider (103) is moved in a linear direction to move the seat cushion (104) in the linear direction, which results in movement of the first link (101) in an angular direction to tilt the seat back rest (105). A handle (107) is provided to facilitate linear movement of the slider (103). Further, the adjustable slouch rear seat (100) is also provided with a connector (106) between a lower end of the seat
25 back rest (105) and a distal end of the seat cushion (104) to fill a gap formed between the seat cushion (104) and the seat back rest (105) when the seat back rest (105) is tilted.
[0039] Referring to figure 2 and 3, which illustrate perspective views of the adjustable slouch rear seat seen from the front of the seat and seen from the back
7
of the seat respectively, according to an embodiment of the present invention. As shown in figure 2 and 3, the adjustable slouch rear seat (100) is provided with two of a parallel link mechanism, each of which has a first link (101) pivoted on the vehicle rear, a slider (103) and a second link (102) connecting the first link (101) 5 and the slider (103), on which slouch rear seat (100) is fixed in an embodiment. Figure-2 and figure-3 also illustrate the handle (107) that simultaneously operates both the parallel link mechanism to effect slouching of the slouch rear seat (100).
[0040] Referring to figure 4, which illustrates tilting of the adjustable slouch rear seat by forward movement of slider, according to an embodiment of the present 10 invention. The slider (103) is moved in a forward linear direction (1) to tilt the seat back rest (105) by increasing angle (ϴ1) between the slider (103) and the second link (102). As illustrated, ϴ2> ϴ1, where ϴ2 is angle between the slider (103) and the second link (102) after the slider moves in a forward linear direction (1) and tilt of the seat back rest.
15 [0041] Referring to figure 5, tilting of the adjustable slouch rear seat by backward movement of slider, according to an embodiment of the present invention. The slider (103) is moved in a backward linear direction (2) to tilt the seat back rest (105) by decreasing angle (ϴ2) between the slider (103) and the second link (102). As illustrated, ϴ2> ϴ1, where ϴ1 is angle between the slider
20 (103) and the second link (102) after the slider (103) moves in a backward linear direction (2) to decrease the tilt of the seat back rest (105) with respect to the seat cushion (104).
[0042] As illustrated by figure-4 and figure-5, varying angle between the slider (103) and the second link (102) by linear movement of the slider (103) in forward 25 and backward directions, different tilts of the seat back rest (105) with respect to the seat cushion (104) can be obtained, to achieve different slouch positions of the adjustable slouch rear seat (100). The adjustable slouch rear seat (100) includes a stopper [not shown in figure] to stop the linear movement of the slider (103). Since, the stopper in the slider mechanism is well known in the art, the description
8
of the stopper is not provided herein. The stopper engages with the slider (103) to stop the linear movement of the slider after achieving a required tilt of the seat back rest. This way different slouch positions of the adjustable slouch rear seat is achieved.
5 [0043] Referring to figure 6, a method to obtain an adjustable slouch rear seat (100) for a vehicle is provided, according to an embodiment of the present invention. A method (600) to obtain adjustable slouch rear seat (100) for a vehicle comprises steps of: moving (601) a slider (103) in a linear direction; varying (602) an angle between the slider (103) and a second link (102) pivoted on a rear end
10 (103a) of the slider (103); and rotating (603) a first link (101) connected to the second link (102) about a top end (101a) of the first link (101) pivoted on a vehicle rear.
[0044] The seat cushion (104) is fixed on a top surface of the slider (103) and moving the slider (103) in a linear direction moves the seat cushion (104) in the
15 linear direction. Further, a seat back rest (105) is fixed on a front surface of the first link (101) and moving the slider (103) in a linear direction rotates the first link (101), tilting the seat back rest (105). In an embodiment, the slider (103) is moved in a forward linear direction (1) and the angle (ϴ1) is increased to achieve different slouch positions. Further, in another embodiment, the slider (103) is
20 moved in a backward linear direction (2) and the angle (ϴ2) is decreased to achieve different slouch positions.
[0045] This way, an adjustable slouch rear seat (100) with two of the parallel link mechanism is provided to achieve different slouch positions, when the top end (101a) of seat back rest (105) is pivoted on fixed vehicle rear.
