“AN ANGULAR POCKET SLIDE PACK”
APPLICANT:
MANIPAL TECHNOLOGIES LTD.
A company incorporated under Indian Companies Act, 1956 having address at
PRESS CORNER, MANIPAL-576104, KARNATAKA, INDIA
PREAMBLE TO THE DESCRIPTION:
The following specification particularly describes the invention and the manner in which it is to be performed:
FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The invention provides an angular pocket slide pack. More specifically, the invention relates to the boxes for packaging for FMCG goods, pharmaceutical sector, business cards, cosmetic products, chewing gum etc wherein slide open feature makes the entire product from the storage compartment fully accessible.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
A Packaging is the science, art and technology of enclosing or protecting products for distribution, storage, sale and use. The packaging also refers to the process of design, evaluation, and production of packages. This packaging can be described as a coordinated system of preparing goods for transport, warehousing, logistics, sale and end use. Well-designed packaging is essential to protect manufactured products as they travel from the plant and through several distribution channels to the customer. It also plays an important role in advertising the product and presenting it in such a manner as to attract the customer.
Different types of packaging are made from plastic, metal or aluminium, cardboard, glass and foam. In this cardboard packaging is used when the product is already wrapped in something that is already well protected and secured. This material is also highly recyclable. This material is also used in manufacturing corrugated boxes. Some products use bubble wrap for protective purposes before putting it in a well-sealed box. Taping machines are commonly used for sealing these corrugated boxes just to make sure that product is delivered intact.
The main challenge lies not in providing a good packaging and impressing consumers but in managing the cost involved in making the packaging evenly acceptable to all the stakeholders in the supply chain. Important considerations like weight, cost and availability of packaging material also play a key role. The cost of package should not be high enough in comparison with the cost of product as it will ultimately mark up the price for the end users.
In conventional methods of packaging designs with slide openings need multiple pieces of cardboard to produce, which was disadvantageous. Further, it required an insertion step or inserting of the slide member in between or adjacent other side panels of the box. This insertion step cannot be easily accomplished by various food manufacturers without significant changes. Therefore, conventional packing methods are unreliable, costly, and slow, due mainly to the requirement of folding the stop flap and/or the stop panel by hand, and inserting the inner sliding piece into the sleeve by hand.
US 20070068843A1 discloses a package includes a slide card that can be releasably locked in an outer sleeve. The slide card includes an engaging tab that provides part of a locking mechanism that is used to lock the slide card in the outer sleeve. A support element is positioned and secured to the slide card to maintain the resilience of the slide card at a hinged connection between the engaging tab and a base panel along a fold line. The Support element is dimensioned and positioned to define a minimum angle between the engaging tab and the base panel. Thereby, the resiliency of the slide card is not compromised as the engaging tab is repeatedly folded or depressed toward the base panel. The main drawback of this invention is the cost involved in paper and manufacturing of slide card and need of additional tray for serving the product.
For the foregoing reasons, there remains a need for a box that offers a convenient slide opening for easy dispensing of product, that is easy to manufacture on a mass production scale using conventional high-speed packaging machines, and that is constructed in such a way to avoid any insertion step.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
The present invention will now be described more fully hereinafter with reference to the accompanying drawings in which a preferred embodiment of the invention is shown. This invention may, however, be embodied in many different forms and should not be construed as being limited to the embodiment set forth herein. Rather, the embodiment is provided so that this disclosure will be thorough, and will fully convey the scope of the invention to those skilled in the art.
This invention provides an unusual and impressive packaging for an angular pocket slide pack for FMCG, pharma sectors, business cards, cosmetic products and chewing gum blister packs with slide opening feature in order to easily pull out the product from the inner cover using only paper board material. As shown in Figure 1, elucidates the die-cut blank of the angular pocket slide pack with slide open feature used to form a carton in accordance with an exemplary embodiment of the disclosure. Different parts of the angular pocket slide pack (131) with slide opening feature invention are pasting flap (101), crease (102), rear or back panel (103), crease (104), left side panel (105), crease (106), front panel (107), crease (108), right side panel (109), crease (110), pasting flap (111), flap (112), sliding panel (113), crease (114), product holding cover (115), crease (116), sliding panel (117), crease (118), flap (119), locking tab (120), crease (121), reverse folding flap (122), main crease (123), top closure panel (124), top corner panel (125), bottom closure panel (126), bottom corner panel (127) and two marks (128). Therefore, an angular pocket slide pack (131) comprising:
at least one extended foldable card sleeve comprising plurality of sliding panels (113, 117) attaching plurality of flaps (112, 119) with plurality of creases (114, 116, 118, 121), at least one reverse folding flap (122), at least one locking tab (120) and at least one product holding cover (115);

at least front panel (107) with plurality of creases (106, 108, 110), a pasting flap (111) with plurality of marks (128), a right side panel (109), a bottom closure panel (126) and a bottom corner panel (127); and
at least one left side panel (105) with a top corner panel (125) attached to said card sleeve through crease (123);
wherein,
the extended foldable card sleeve, back panel (103) and the front panel (107) comprise of a single sheet;
a cover (130) is created by pasting locking tab (120) to the flap (112) by folding creases (114, 116 and 118) and folding reverse folding flap (122) using crease (121);
said cover (130) is opened via sliding.
As shown in Figure 2, shows first and the second fold for side pasting of the present invention. In this flap (111) is pasted on front panel (107) using crease (110) in a zero degree and two crop marks (128) are provided in order to show the glue drops to be placed. Next step is pasting flap (101) into right side panel (109) using creases (104) and (108).
As shown in Figure 3, explains the formation of vertical standing sleeve by erecting the carton (129) using creases (102, 104, 106 and 108).
As shown in Figure 4, elucidates the formation of product cover (130) which is used to hold the product by insert locking tab (120) to the flap (112) by folding creases (114, 116 and 118).
As shown in Figure 5, elucidates the formation of angular pocket slide pack (131) with slide open feature. In this invention, product cover (130) is inserted into the sleeve by reverse folding flap (122) using crease (121) and folding crease (123).
Therefore, a method of packing an angular pocket slide pack (131) using a single sheet comprising the steps of:
(a) pasting flap (111) on front panel (107) in a zero degree by folding crease (110);

(e) pasting locking tab (120) to the flap (112) by folding creases (114, 116 and 118);
(f) folding reverse folding flap (122) using crease (121); and
(g) folding crease (123) to seal the carton in the cover (130).
Here, the cover (130) and carton (129) are attached through crease (123) and the carton (130) slides open to easily pull out or place the product in the carton (130) and eliminates the need of any additional tray for storage of product.
As shown in Figure 6, depicts the complete angular pocket slide pack (131) with slide open feature comprising vertical standing sleeve creases (102, 104, 106 and 108), locking tab (120), main crease (123). In this panel (126) is pasted on panel (124) in a formed condition in order to seal the sleeve for accessing the product from product cover in opposite direction.
Therefore, the present invention provides an angular slide pack with slide opening for easy dispensing of product, that is easy to manufacture on a mass production scale, cost effective and constructed in such a way to avoid any product insertion step. Here, the method of accessing contents from the angular pocket slide pack in which the cover slides out with a desired degree to easily pull out the product eliminates need for any additional tray for serving the product(s).
