The following specification particularly describes the invention and the manner in which it is to be performed
FIELD OF INVENTION
The present invention relates to a "An Anti-Chipping and Anti-abrasion film label and the Process Of Manufacturing The Same". It is a self adhesive label having a transparent or translucent polymeric film and a pressure sensitive adhesive layer on one surface of the polymeric film. The said label is especially suitable for application in the area between the fuel tank cover and the seat where the fuel tank cover constantly rubs against the seat thus preventing rub off of the paint coat & avoiding possible corrosion. The said label can also be used for Anti-Chipping application.
DESCRIPTION OF THE PRIOR ART
In the automobile industry there is a need for a material having anti abrasion & anti chipping properties. The two wheeler industry is particularly faced with the problem of the painted fuel tank surface constantly rubbing against the seat. The abrasion thus caused rubs off the coat of paint & that leads to corrosion. Fuel tank corrosion is a very serious issue in two wheelers since it can be hazardous & detrimental to the safety of the passenger. Anti chipping and anti abrasion film based labels are also used for prevention of chipping on printed vehicle, prevention of rear-hatch door contact & sliding door rubbing.
Presently labels made out of pressure sensitive adhesive coated urethane film or Poly Vinyl Chloride (PVC) films are used for such applications. While the urethane film based labels presently used

for these applications are very expensive, PVC film based labels do not have good abrasion resistance properties. To overcome these shortcoming, what is needed is a label providing good anti abrasion and anti chipping features and which is also inexpensive.
The objective of the present invention is to provide a Anti-Chipping and Anti-abrasion film label which is inexpensive, can be easily applied on curved surfaces, adheres very well to curved painted surface and prevents chipping of painted surface of vehicles.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to cost effective anti-chipping and anti-abrasion film label. The invention accordingly provides a pressure sensitive adhesive label having a backing which is transparent or translucent polymeric film which exhibits high flexibility and when coated with pressure sensitive adhesives can be applied on 3-dimentionally curved surface when it tightly adheres to the same. The process of manufacturing the said anti-chipping and anti-abrasion film label comprises of:
(a) Coating the formulated pressure sensitive adhesive on silicone release resin coated substrate (release liner) by known coating methods and drying by a conventional method at a temperature of 90°C tol20°C for about 2 to 3 minutes followed by lamination to transparent or translucent polymeric film to get label stock;

(b) Punching of the said label stock to required shape and size to get the final labels;
(c) Backcutting the release liner of the label for easy application to the desired surface.
The polymeric film used in this invention is a 100 to 350 micron thick transparent or translucent polythene film. The said formulated pressure sensitive adhesive is solvent based acrylic adhesive or water based acrylic emulsion. The said formulated solvent based pressure sensitive adhesive is manufactured by co-polymerising combinations of monomers like vinyl acetate, 2-ethyl hexyl acrylate, ethyl acrylate, acrylic acid in a solvent like ethyl acetate, toluene using peroxide catalyst like benzoyl peroxide in a vessel which is maintained around 80°C to get the solvent base acrylic adhesive.
The said formulated water based acrylic emulsion pressure sensitive adhesive is manufactured by co-polymerising combinations of monomers like vinyl acetate, 2 - ethyl hexyl acrylate, ethyl acrylate, acrylic acid in water having emulsifiers like sodium lauryl sulphate and peroxide catalyst like benzoyl peroxide in a vessel which is maintained around 80°C to get water based acrylic emulsion.
The release liner in the present invention is a silicone release resin coated substrate which could be either different papers like Glassine, bleached Kraft, polycoated or various polymeric films like Polyester, Polyethylene, Polyvinyl Chloride film.

The label stock formed by aforesaid technique is slit in the required width and cut into sheets.
The sheets of the said label stock so obtained is cut to get labels of required sizes and shapes followed by backcutting the liner of the label for easy application of the label on the application surface. The said label has the following features:-
(a) Dimensional stability,
(b) Outdoor resistance,
(c) Heat resistance,
