[0001] The present disclosure, in general, relates to a method of multiple pipe holding. More particularly the invention relates to a method of multiple smaller diameter pipe holding in a horizontal pipe sizing band saw machine. The invention further relates to an apparatus for sizing of pipes on multiple numbers smaller diameter pipes at a time in a horizontal pipe sizing band saw machine.
BACKGROUND
[0002] Background description includes information that may be useful in understanding the present invention. It is not an admission that any of the information provided herein is prior art or relevant to the presently claimed invention, or that any publication specifically or implicitly referenced is prior art.
[0003] Generally, the band saw machine has two vices. First one is called as main vice which is fixed, another one called as shuttle vice which is movable. These vices are used to hold the pipes to cut to the required length which is named as sizing of pipes. This machine can hold minimum 80mm outside diameter pipe to maximum 950mm outside diameter of pipe. Below 80mm outside diameter pipe is not possible for sizing because if less clearance between vices.
[0004] The sizing of tube is meant for making of stub, pipe support, trunnions, branch pipe which fitted to boiler main parts such as header, panels, lines & links, coils etc., which are used in super critical and ultra-super critical boilers.
[0005] The smaller diameter pipes ranging from outside diameter 80to 150 the vices are used to hold only one pipe. Such smaller out diameter piped are required more than 2000 number per shift and it is not possible to hole multiple dimeter pipes of smaller diameter pipes in a single setting.
[0006] Since the time taken to complete the pipe sizing process is almost 30 minutes for single pipe. So to increase the productivity a device is to be developed to hold multiple number of smaller diameter pipes in a single setting to reducing the cutting time.
[0007] Therefore, there is a requirement of an apparatus and method of multiple pipe holding device and multiple pipe sizing in a horizontal pipe sizing band saw machine.
OBJECTS OF THE DISCLOSURE
[0008] Some of the objects of the present disclosure, which at least one embodiment herein satisfy, are listed herein below.
[0009] It is a general or primary object of the present disclosure to a device for cutting smaller diameter pipes less that 80mm outside diameter. Another object of the present invention is
[0010] It is another object of the present disclosure to to propose a device to hold multiple number of pipes in a single setting for sizing.
[0011] These and other objects and advantages of the present disclosure will be apparent to those skilled in the art after a consideration of the following detailed description taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings in which a preferred form of the present disclosure is illustrated.
SUMMARY
[0012] This summary is provided to introduce concepts related to an apparatus and method of multiple pipe holding device and multiple pipe sizing in a horizontal pipe sizing band saw machine. The concepts are further described below in the detailed description. This summary is not intended to identify key features or essential features of the claimed subject matter, nor is it intended to be used to limit the scope of the claimed subject matter.
[0013] The device according to present invention includes a top plate which is to be positioned in the horizontal pipe sizing band saw machine supporting legs by Allen bolts.
[0014] The top plate is provided with a one-part hole for centre positioning of connecting tube which is named as longitudinal hole. The top plate is provided at top of the longitudinal hole two angle plates are permanently welded. In both end the top plate two holes are provided to insert Allen bolts. One guiding nut is inserted in between the two angle plates for using lead screw up down movement. One end of the lead screw is provided with a step and the bottom of the step one circlip groove is provided. Bearing fitted in the lead screw step and the outer circlip was inserted in the circlip groove, the circlip is fitted to prevent the bearing coming out. One internal step was provided in the top of the connecting tube and one internal circlip groove formed in the top of internal step. The bearing fitted lead screw is housed in the internal step of connecting tube and one inner circlip was inserted in the internal circlip groove, the circlip is preventing to bearing coming out. In bottom of the connecting tube one rectangle plate is permanently welded. At the both ends of the rectangle plate one hole is provided to insert the Allen bolt. The whole unit consisting of connecting tube with bearing housed lead screw is screwed in the bottom of the top plate through longitudinal hole and guiding nut. After screwing the unit, two locking nuts are fitted in the top end of the lead screw. By this arrangement, the up and down movement is obtained by rotating the locking nuts accordingly.
[0015] Another one unit of this invention is scalloped plate assembly. The scalloped plate assembly is having two scalloped plates, first one is front scalloped plate another one is rear scalloped plate. A connecting plate is used to connect the two scalloped plates at the top. The bottom of the two scalloped plates is provided with four curving profile to suit the smaller dimeter pipes. Depending upon the size of the pipes, the curve size also changed. Normally the range the pipes having outside diameter 80mm to 150mm. The first and last curved profile is made with a keyway so as to insert the measuring tape to sizing of the pipes to the required length. The two sub assembly units are connected by providing two holes in the item No. and fastened by Allen bolts. At the bottom of the connecting plate three stiffener plates are permanently welded in equal gap along the length of the item NO. to provide additional strength between the two scalloped plates.
[0016] By the above arrangement the work piece is placed in the bottom of the scalloped plate assembly at the four curving profiles on the scalloped plate assembly. The machine vice (not shown) is now used to tighten the work pieces on either side to cut to the required length. During the cutting operation, there is no jumping of the pipes occurred due to the curved profile. The operation is repeated further for the cutting proceeds. The time taken is very much reduced by the above method.
[0017] The foregoing summary is illustrative only and is not intended to be in any way limiting. In addition to the illustrative aspects, embodiments, and features described above, further aspects, embodiments, and features will become apparent by reference to the drawings and the following detailed description.
