An Apparatus For Edge Preparation Of Water Wall Panel Tubes By Lifting And Positioning A Chamfering Machine Without Using Electric Overhead Transport (Eot) Crane

Abstract: The invention relates to an apparatus (A) for holding and positioning a chamfering machine for making edge preparation of water wall tubes. The apparatus comprises of a frame (12) with a screw rod (2) fixed at top with bush bearing and box nut (15). A cross slide through box nut (15) is connected with a hook (18) through a chain (13). The hook (18) carries a chamfering machine. A sliding base (10) consisting of wheels (9) moves on a track (17) to move the whole apparatus with the chamfering machine in x-y direction. A rotating base (7) fixed on the top of a sliding base (10) is connected with the frame (12) through guiding tube (11). The tube (11) rests on a rotating cylinder (8) with an in built locking mechanism. The apparatus can be rotated by the rotating cylinder (8) and can be locked at any angle for carrying out edge preparation of inclined panel assembly tubes. A chain (3) and sprocket (4) on with a rotating handle (5) is disposed for linear movement of chamfering machine. A hydraulic rock provides vertical movement of the apparatus and the machine. A box nut guiding rod (1), the cross slide and an interconnector provides a precise movement of the chamfering machine.

Specification

FIELD OF INVENTION
The present invention relates to an apparatus for edge preparation of water wall panel tubes by lifting and positioning a chamfering machine without using Electric Overhead Transport (EOT) crane. More particularly, the invention relates to an apparatus which can maneuver a chamfering machine safely and efficiently with reduced manpower and cycle time without engaging an EOT crane.
BACKGROUND OF INVENTION
In power plants, the spiral and vertical panels make the furnace walls. All the water wall panels consist of end tubes which need to be chamfered as per drawing. The Length of the panels varies from 2meters to 20 meters consisting tubes in range from 22 tubes to 400 tubes with outside Diameter ranging from 38.1 mm to 76.1 mm. These tubes have to be edge prepared for joining the other panels or loose tubes at site.
These end chamfering is done with the help of portable chamfering machine by hanging it with (Electric Overhead Transport) EOT crane. It was noticed that while doing the chamfering with this method machine positioning is done with crane remote which needs additional manpower. In addition to that

machine setting time and positioning time was more. Moreover while doing the chamfering with this method kept other necessary crane movement work, panel flipping work on waiting. Since the basic activities of EOT crane is for Loading, Unloading, and Movement. Whenever the EOT crane is engaged in its basic activity it will not be available for chamfering. Hence the man power engaged for chamfering the tube end has to be idle. Similarly, whenever the crane is engaged for chamfering other basic activities has to wait. Hence the basic activities are affected due to more crane usage for tube end scarfing machine.
Hence there is a need to find out a safe and easy method for doing edge preparation of tubes without using EOT crane with reduction in manpower and time.
OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION
Therefore, it is an object of the invention to propose an apparatus for edge preparation of water wall panel tubes by lifting and positioning a chamfering machine without using Electric Overhead Transport (EOT) crane, which is capable of maneuvering precisely the chamfering machine placing the machining at any position before locking it for edge preparation.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
Accordingly there is provided an apparatus consist of one Track, sliding base, main rotating base, chain with hook, chain with sprocket, cross slide, frame, screw rod, hydraulic jack and guiding pipe. Refer Fig-1.
It comprises of Frame which consist of screw rod fixed at top with bush bearing and box nut. Through box nut cross slide will be connected and chain with hook is connected with cross slide. Chamfering machine will be hanged with this hook.
Apparatus linear movement on the x-y direction is obtained through sliding base consisting of wheels. This sliding base will move on tracks of length of 2 meters which is made up of steel tubes connected with ribs.
There is one rotating base on top of the sliding base which is connected with frame through guiding tube. The purpose of this rotation enables the device can be rotated at any angle and locked by in built locking mechanism. Thereby, the inclined panel assembly tubes can be also edge prepared.
The screw rod is connected with chain with sprocket provided with rotating handle which will give linear motion to Chamfering machine. The Sprocket is connected with the screw rod by means of chain and by rotating the sprocket using the rotating handle, the cross slide will move horizontally in the x-y direction

since it is connected to screw rod. The screw rod freely rotates by providing the bush bearings on both ends. The box nut guiding rod is connected with cross slide by a interconnector for precise movement of the chamfering machine (Not shown) which is attached on the chain with the hook to do the chamfering.
Hydraulic jack is also provided to carry out the vertical movement of the frame in which chamfering machine is hanged so as to place the machine in any position before locking it to do the edge preparation.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF A PREFERRED EMBODIMENT OF THE INVENTION
The apparatus (A) comprises of a fabricated Frame (12) having a screw rod (2) fixed at top with bush bearing and box nut (15). Through box nut cross slide (14) is connected with hook (18) through chain (13) having left right

motion to a length of 1500 mm. Chamfering machine (not shown) is hanged with this chain (13) and hook (18).
Apparatus linear movement on the x-y direction is obtained through sliding base (10) consisting of wheels (9). This sliding base (10) will move on tracks (17) of length of 2 meters which is made up of steel tubes connected with ribs.
There is one rotating base (7) on top of the sliding base (10) which is connected with frame (12) through guiding tube (11). The guiding tube (11) rests on the rotating cylinder (8) with locking mechanism in built for locking it at any position after tilting of the frame (12). The purpose of this rotation is to enable the device to rotate at any angle and to be locked by in built locking mechanism. There by the inclined panel assembly tubes can be also edge prepared.
The screw rod (2) is connected with chain (3) and sprocket (4) provided with rotating handle (5) that gives linear motion to Chamfering machine. The Sprocket (4) is connected with the screw rod (2) by means of chain (3) and by rotating the sprocket (4) using the rotating handle (5), the cross slide (14) moves horizontally in the x-y direction since it is connected to screw rod (2). The screw rod (2) freely rotates by providing the bush bearings (15) on both ends. The box nut guiding rod (1) is connected with cross slide (14) by an interconnector (16) for

precise movement of the chamfering machine (Not shown) which is attached on the chain with the hook (13) to do the chamfering.
Hydraulic jack (6) is also provided to carry out the vertical movement of the frame (12) in which chamfering machine is hanged so as to place the machine in any position before locking it to do the edge preparation.
The whole device (A) with chamfering machine can be moved horizontally in a track (17) by means of wheels (9) provided on sliding base(10) for a length of 2000 mm. Once the chamfering operation is carried out for 2000 mm the entire assembly with track (17) is moved further to repeat the operation till the completion of the entire length of the panel.

WE CLAIM
1. An apparatus (A) for edge preparation of water wall panel tubes by lifting and positioning a chamfering machine without using Electric Overhead Transport (EOT) crane, the said apparatus (A) comprising;
a fabricated frame (12) having a screw rod (2) fixed at top with bush bearing and box nut (15);
a cross slide (14) configured through the said box nut (15) connected with a hook (18) through a chain (13), the said chain and hook disposed to carry a chamfering machine;
a sliding base (10) consisting of wheels (9) configured to move on tracks (17) for providing a linear movement of whole apparatus (A) with chamfering machine on x-y direction;
a rotating base (7) disposed on top of the sliding base (10) connected with the frame (12) through guiding tube (11), the said tube resting on a rotating cylinder (8) with an inbuilt locking mechanism for locking it at any position after tilting of the frame, the said rotating cylinder (8) disposed for enabling the apparatus (A) to rotate at any angle and to be locked by in-built locking mechanism for carrying out edge preparation of inclined panel assembly tubes;

a chain (3) and sprocket (4) with a rotating handle (5) connected to the screw rod (2) disposed for providing linear motion to the chamfering machine; wherein
a box nut guiding rod (1) is connected with cross slide (14) by a interconnector (16) for providing a precise movement of the chamfering machine attached on the chain (13) with hook (18) for making the chamfering when a hydraulic jack (6) is disposed for carrying out the vertical movement of the frame (12) carrying the chamfering machine within it, enabling the said machine to be set and locked at any position for making the edge preparation,
wherein after carrying out the chamfering machine for a fixed length, the entire assembly with track (17) moves further to repeat the operation till the completion of end chamfering for entire length of panel.
2. An apparatus as claimed in claim 1, wherein length of tracks (17) is of 2 meters and the said track (17) is made up of steel tubes connected with ribs.
3. An apparatus as claimed in claim 1, wherein the cross side (14) is capable of moving left right motion to a length of 1500 mm.

4. An apparatus as claimed in claim 1, wherein the whole device (A) moves horizontally in a track (17) by means of wheels (9) provided on sliding base (10) for a fixed length of 2000 mm.
