Specification

The present invention relates to a Li-Fi based Ethernet connectivity and
data communication between the routers and the computing devices. The
invention more particularly relates to an apparatus for providing a Wireless
5 Ethernet connectivity over Li-Fi.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
[002] The present invention discloses a technology providing a Wireless
Ethernet connectivity over Li-Fi. Further, the implementation of a Li-Fi enabled
Ethernet connectivity between the routers and the plurality of computing
10 devices using this apparatus is discussed. Wireless communication is a very
enamouring technique to transmit data and gradually enlarges potential
application area. In particular, Li-Fi has more advantages pertaining to safe
and secure connection than any other wireless technology. It also can be
applied for the faster data transfer, which can be used with the Li-Fi based
15 Ethernet connectivity. However, a conventional wireless LAN system employs
Wi-Fi radios or Bluetooth radio network, and having the problem of limited
resources such as low bandwidth spectrum. As a result, there is potential
difficulty in handling large amounts of data or computations such as those
inherent in data transfer. In certain application areas such as some of the
20 hospital laboratories, the use of RF waves may be even prohibited.
[003] Furthermore, by using the Visible Light Communication (VLC), in
contrast to radio waves, the secure wireless connection can be established
more efficiently since the visible light could not radiate through most solid
objects. VLC has been applied for many use cases, one of them is Light-
3
Fidelity (Li-Fi) based wireless communication. With Li-Fi, internet access is no
longer using conventional RF spectrum as employed in Wi-Fi technology but
apply visible light for carrying the data signals between the servers, routers
and the computing devices.
5 [004] Accordingly, there remains a need in the prior art for a technical
convergence to make the system, apparatus, interfaces and method compact,
it is in this context that the present invention provides an apparatus for
providing a Wireless Ethernet connectivity over Li-Fi and further, offers the
safe usage of this system in the sensitive area like hospital especially in the
10 ICU’s or intensive care units. The existing systems are likely to cause
unhealthy effects on the patients’ in hospitals due to the radio frequency
interferences. The proposed system overcomes the effects by replacing the
wired Ethernet connectivity with Li-Fi based connection. Therefore, it would
be useful and desirable to have a system and interface to meet the above15 mentioned needs.
SUMMARY OF THE PRESENT INVENTION
[005] In view of the foregoing disadvantages inherent in the known types of
system and devices to provide LAN connection using wire or Wi-Fi, are now
present in the prior art, the present invention provides an apparatus for
20 providing a Wireless Ethernet connectivity over Li-Fi. The system is designed
with, but not limited to, a compact housing, which is used for transmitting the
converted Ethernet signals into the Li-Fi one by using a Li-Fi transmission unit
and a Li-Fi receiving unit, which has all the advantages of the prior art and
none of the disadvantages.
4
[006] One of the important aspect of the present invention, in which the
housing can be connected with other similar housings to expand the LAN
connection in a desired area, which is linked through a Li-Fi based transceiver
unit by using the requisite light sources.
5 [007] Another object of the present invention to replace the Wi-Fi or wired
Ethernet techniques with the Li-Fi one, the present invention is configured with
Li-Fi based protocols, interfaces and hardware units such as, but not limited
to, Li-Fi based transmission signal conversion circuit, a buffer circuit, light
modulation circuitry, transimpedance amplifier, signal conditioning &
10 amplification, optical sensors and other related amplifiers fitted with a light
source that could preferably be, but not limited to, a high intensity electric lamp
for data communication.
[008] It is an important aspect of the present invention to provide a Li-Fi based
Wireless Ethernet connectivity, which is based on Li-Fi linking, and can be
15 considered better than Wi-Fi /Radio Wave based systems because there are
some limitations in Wi-Fi, with their radio frequencies, data security and
confidentiality to deliver wireless connectivity.
[009] Another object of the present invention is to provide the light source with
a novel hardware interaction by combining and working of the Ethernet
20 connectivity over Li-Fi based hardware in order to serve wireless linking and
data communication purposes to offer better solution for connecting a number
of computing devices and also by reducing the installation cost and
environmental hazards for a premise through Li-Fi linking.
