However, one of ordinary skill in the art will readily recognize that the present disclosure an armrest with dual side opening is not intended to be limited to the embodiments illustrated, but is to be accorded the widest scope consistent with the principles and features described herein.
[0015] As described above, there are some limitations in the conventional armrest. In conventional approach, in order to access a cubby box of the armrest, a person can access the cubby box only from one side, as an armrest lid can be opened from only one of its sides by lifting or sliding the lid from its closed position. This leads to discomfort for the person accessing the cubby box from the opposite side (the side of the armrest lid that cannot be opened). The person mentioned may be a driver or a co-driver. Further, in conventional dual side opening of the armrest, there are two separate hinge supports to open the armrest from both the sides, but, sometimes due to the frequent opening and closing of the armrest, this leads to loosening of the two hinge supports, thereby creating instability in the armrest. Thus, there is a need overcome the limitation of the conventional armrest.
[0016] In one implementation, an armrest with dual side opening is illustrated. The armrest comprises a bin, an armrest frame, and an armrest lid. In one embodiment, the bin comprises a cubby box or a storage. In another embodiment, the armrest frame rested on the bin via a primary hinge support. Further, the armrest lid is mounted on the armrest frame via a secondary hinge support, and the secondary hinge support is located opposite to the primary hinge support so as to enable a dual side opening of an armrest
[0017] In one embodiment there may include an advantage, the armrest provides stability.
[0018] Now, in one embodiment, figure 1 illustrates an isometric view 100 of an armrest 114 opened from one side.
