DESC:FIELD OF INVENTION
[001] This invention is related to an arrangement of air intake system 5 and radiator for diesel engine vehicle.
BACKGROUND/PRIOR ART
[002] According to the currently available provision as illustrated in fig1, air cleaner (1) is placed on vehicle body and intercooler (2) is 10 mounted either horizontally or on right hand side if positioned vertically.
[003] Here, airflow takes place from the air cleaner (1) to the intercooler (2) through intercooler hose (3) and from the intercooler to 15 intake manifold via another intercooler hose (4).
[004] However, the above arrangement requires long length of intercooler hoses together with involvement of multiple number of parts. 20
[005] This eventually results in complex layout, more weight and high cost of whole system.
25
3
[006] Further, cooling of air by the intercooler in right side is affected owing to location of engine behind the inter cooler. This leads to 5 degradation in performance of engine by reducing cooling efficiency of intercooler.
[007] Hence, the present invention introduces an arrangement of air intake system and radiator for diesel engine vehicle which can 10 address issues of prior art and can also serve the purpose effectively.
OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION
[008] An object of this invention is to propose an arrangement of air intake system and radiator for diesel engine vehicle which overcomes 15 shortcomings of prior art.
[009] Another object of this invention is to propose an arrangement of air intake system and radiator for diesel engine vehicle which is not complex. 20
[0010] Further object of this invention is to propose an arrangement of air intake system and radiator for diesel engine vehicle which is cost effective.
25
4
[0011] Yet another object of this invention is to propose an arrangement of air intake system and radiator for diesel engine 5 vehicle which functions effectively.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
[0012] According to this invention, there is provided an arrangement of air intake system and radiator for diesel engine vehicle comprising 10 an air cleaner mounted on engine with intercooler placed on left hand side and radiator and fan assembly located on right hand side of engine.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE ACCOMPANYING DRAWINGS
[0013] Further objects and advantages of this invention will be more 15 apparent from the ensuing description when read in conjunction with the accompanying drawings of the exemplary embodiments and wherein:
Fig. 1 shows: Conventional air intake system.
Fig. 2 and 3 shows: An arrangement of air intake system and 20 radiator for diesel engine vehicle according to the invention wherein fig. 3 indicates front and back view of intercooler and radiator and fan assembly.

DETAIL DESCRIPTION OF THE PRESENT INVENTION WITH REFERENCE TO THE ACCOMPANYING DRAWINGS 5
[0014] The invention is pertinent to an arrangement of air intake system and radiator for diesel engine vehicle.
[0015] In this regard, reference may be made to fig. 2 illustrating said arrangement. According to the disclosure, air cleaner (1') is mounted 10 on engine (2') and intercooler (3') is placed on left hand side as shown.
[0016] Mounting of the inter cooler on left hand side results in compact layout of hoses. The air cleaner is integrated to engine cover, 15 thereby rendering said arrangement compact comparatively.
[0017] The main function of a Radiator Assembly in a vehicle is to take the heat off the Coolant and in turn cool the Engine Block and Head. Hot coolant flows through the tubes of the Radiator and air 20 flows through the fins of the Radiator for absorbing the heat and cooling the coolant. This cold coolant is again pumped into cooling circuit inside the block.
[0018] In conventional Engine room, the Radiator & fan assembly is 25 placed on the Left Hand Side so that air-flow can be directed into the Engine room with less obstacle.
6
[0019] But in order to improve vehicle performance, Intercooler 5 position is interchanged with Radiator Assembly in present invention. Hence, the radiator and fan assembly (4') is located on the right hand side as best seen in fig. 3. However, the presence of the Engine towards Right Hand Side poses as hindrance for air flow.
10
[0020] Therefore, in order to cater to the air flow requirements for engine room cooling and for efficient performance of the radiator, radiator has been optimized by increasing diameter of the radiator fan.
15
[0021] The increment in diameter of said radiator fan is 15-20%, wherein the fan is offset towards right hand side as shown.
[0022] The aforementioned arrangement has several advantageous features including shorter intercooler hoses, and improved cooling 20 efficiency of intercooler resulting in enhanced engine performance owing to increase in air flow through the intercooler with no obstruction behind the intercooler.
[0023] Further, the shorter hoses lead to reduction in weight and 25 therefore in cost. There is also less pressure drop due to compact layout.
7
[0024] Eventually, the novel radiator and fan assembly with increased 5 fan diameter leads to required engine room cooling alongwith enhanced engine performance.
Advantageous Features
[0025] - Compact arrangement.
- Improved cooling efficiency of intercooler resulting in 10 enhanced engine performance.
- Shorter intercooler hoses.
- Less pressure drop owing to compactness.
- Overall weight and therefore cost reduction.
[0026] It is to be noted that the present invention is susceptible to modifications, adaptations and changes by those skilled in the art.
