, Description:PREAMBLE TO THE DESCRIPTION:
[0001] The following specification particularly describes the invention and the manner in which it is to be performed:
DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION:
Technical field of the invention
[0002] The present invention relates to an assembly for a bus chassis with a ladder frame. The invention particularly relates to an integrated bus chassis and a bus body floor, wherein the chassis is a welded ladder frame structure.
Background of the invention
[0003] Presently, the chassis over which a bus body is mounted is made of a plurality of cross members which are bolted or rivetted to a pair of long members resulting in the requirement of more number of parts for the construction of the chassis frame. Due to the utility of a greater number of parts, the weight of the chassis increases thereby increasing the overall cost. Further, the conventional chassis have a high chassis floor height due to the employment of a separate chassis floor and a bus body floor. Additionally, the bolted construction of the conventional chassis requires frequent maintenance which contributes to the increasing cost of manufacturing.
[0004] The Patent Application No JP2002331957A entitled “Frame structure for vehicle” relates to a frame structure for vehicle which is formed into a ladder shape by connecting two or more cross members to a pair of side rails at prescribed intervals. This structure comprises the lateral rod having one end connected to the rear axle of a vehicle and the other end of one cross member of the cross members through the lateral rod bracket. The one cross member is formed of a square pipe.
[0005] Hence, there exists a need for a mechanism to construct a welded chassis frame in order to reduce the weight of the assembly.
Summary of the invention:
[0006] The present invention overcomes the drawbacks of the prior art by disclosing an assembly for a bus chassis with a ladder frame, wherein the assembly comprises at least one pair of long members which is assembled in parallel and separated by a pre-defined distance, wherein the pair of long members comprises at least one pair of slots which is provided on the left hand side and right hand side of the pair of long members. Further, the assembly comprises at through the corresponding pair of slots thereby forming a ladder frame structure on which a bus body is built
[0007] The present invention provides an assembly that is integrated with the bus body floor which eliminates the need for a separate chassis and bus body floor thereby ensuring a lower bus floor height. The assembly employs minimum number of components which accounts for a reduction in weight and cost of the assemble. Further, the welded construction of the assembly is rigid, robust and noiseless during operation thereby ensuring minimum maintenance and extended lifetime of the assembly.
Brief description of the drawings:
[0008] The foregoing and other features of embodiments will become more apparent from the following detailed description of embodiments when read in read in conjunction with the accompanying drawings. In the drawings, like reference numerals refer to like elements.
[0009] Figure 1a and 1b illustrate an assembly for a bus chassis with a welded ladder frame in a disassembled arrangement and an assembled arrangement respectively.
