Abstract: AN ASSEMBLY FOR CONNECTING ELECTRICAL LOAD The invention relates to an assembly for connecting electrical load. The assembly of the invention comprises one part having one set of contacts connected to the live inputs of the electrical supply, and other part having other set of contacts connected to the load. The assembly provides for a safe, easy and secure connection of the electrical load to the live inputs of the electrical supply. Fig. 3
The invention relates to an assembly for connecting electrical load, and more particularly to an input station for electrical load.
BACKGROUND
Generally, an electrical load is connected to the live inputs of the electrical circuit through an input station such as ceiling rose. The input station is usually an assembly that electrically connects the electrical load to the live inputs, and conceals the electrical connection therein by covering it suitably to provide safety and improve aesthetics of the appearance thereof.
The input station typically comprises of a base having provision to which the live inputs are connected. The electrical load is connected to the live inputs suitably through wires, and directly to the provision provided therein in the input station, to which the live inputs are also connected directly. Connecting the wires of the electrical load to the provision provided in the input station to which the live inputs have already been connected, requires to disconnect or turn off the electric supply to at least that particular live input. Also, it further requires to test for such disconnection thereof before proceeding to connect the wires of the load to the provision provided in the input station. Therefore connecting the electrical load to the live inputs and of the electrical supply thereof becomes cumbersome and besides this poses a greater risk of electric shock if not handled cautiously due to the fact that connecting the electrical load herein involves direct contact with the live inputs of the electric supply.
Therefore, there is a need for the invention that provides a solution for connecting the electrical load more safely and easily.
OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION
It is an object of the invention to provide an assembly for connecting electrical load that has improved safety. It is also an object of the invention to provide an assembly for connecting electrical load that connects the electrical load with increased easiness. Another object of the invention is to provide an assembly for connecting electrical load that has increased reliability.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
Accordingly the invention provides an assembly for connecting electrical load. The assembly of the invention comprises one part having one set of contacts connected to the live inputs of the electrical supply, and other part having other set of contacts connected to the load.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
With reference to the accompanying drawings in which:
Fig. 1 shows the assembly of the invention;
Fig. 2 shows the one part of the assembly in accordance with the invention; and
Fig. 3 shows the other part of the assembly in accordance with the invention.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION
The invention is described herein after with reference to non-exhaustive exemplary embodiments shown in Figs. 1 to 3.
In Figs. 1 to 3, the assembly (100) for connecting electrical load is shown. The assembly (100) has one part (101) typically a base part that can be fitted or detached to or from the base structure holding the one part (101) by a slot having suitable cut portion (107) provided in the one part. Here, the cut portion (107) enables the one part (101) to be fitted or detached to or from the base structure by a suitable movement purporting to a circular movement partially in counter or anti-counter wise rotation or of a slidable movement thereof. The cut portion (107) have suitable cut provided therein which along with a fastening means holds the one part (101) against the base structure firmly in fitted condition and can be detached easily from the base structure. The one part (101) has one set of contacts (103) attached or fitted to the one part (101), and electrically connected to the live inputs of the electrical supply. Each of the one set of contacts, has a portion (104) having a curved profile. The curved profile is made to maintain its shape and may be supported or complemented accordingly to serve its intended functionality. The one set of contacts (103) may be covered by a cover having provisions to allow the passage of wires accordingly. The other part (102) has other set of contacts (105) attached or fitted to the other part (102), and connected to the load. Each of the other set of contacts, has a portion (106) having an elongated or tapered profile.
The one part (101) and the other part (102) has fitting means provided therein to fit the one part (101) and the other part (102) together and also to detach the one part (101) and the other part (102)from each other. The fitting means is comprised of a mechanism having a projection in the other part (102) that is movable inside a suitably cut slot provided in the one part (101). Other fitting mechanism includes but not limited to snap fit, sliding mechanism, clipping mechanism or the like. During the fitting or detaching of the other part (102) to or from the one part (101) respectively by a suitable movement purporting to a partial circular or slidable movement, the elongated or tapered profile of the portion (106) of the other set of contacts (105) pertaining to the other part (102) slides over or against the curved profile of the portion (104) of the one set of contacts (103) of the one part (101) of the assembly (100), correspondingly to electrically connect the load to the live inputs of the electrical supply.
The fitting and detaching of the one part (101) to or from the base structure, and the fitting or detaching of the other part (102) to or from the one part (101) can be effected through any means or mechanism that is intended to serve the purpose or functionality thereof.
Accordingly, the assembly of the invention can effectively connect the load to the live inputs with ease and also by eliminating or reducing the risk of electric shock. Besides this, the assembly provides increased reliability, in relation to the connection so established herein. Only certain features of the invention have been specifically illustrated and described herein, and many modifications and changes will occur to those skilled in the art. The invention is not restricted by the preferred embodiment described herein in the description. It is to be noted that the invention is explained by way of exemplary embodiment and is neither exhaustive nor limiting. Certain aspects of the invention that not been elaborated herein in the description are well understood by one skilled in the art. Also, the terms relating to singular form used herein in the description also include its plurality and vice versa, wherever applicable. Any relevant modification or variation, which is not described specifically in the specification are in fact to be construed of being well within the scope of the invention. The appended claims are intended to cover all such modifications and changes which fall within the spirit of the invention.
Thus, it will be appreciated by those skilled in the art that the present invention can be embodied in other specific forms without departing from the spirit or essential characteristics thereof. The presently disclosed embodiments are therefore considered in all respects to be illustrative and not restricted. The scope of the invention is indicated by the appended claims rather than the foregoing description and all changes that come within the meaning and range and equivalence thereof are intended to be embraced therein.
