FIELD OF INVENTION
This invention is related to an assembly of cover instrument panel
driver/assistant driver side and ornament instrument panel centre lower in
automobile.
BACKGROUND /PRIOR ART
In currently available cars generally as illustrated in fig. 1 there is a hook (1)
integrated to the ornament instrument panel centre lower (2) on both sides
facing towards the cover instrument panel driver and Assistant driver side (3
and 4).
The hook is engaged in the respective slot (5) of the cover instrument panel
driver and Assistant driver side.
The hook is provided so as to restrict relative movement between cover
instrument panel driver/assistant driver side and ornament instrument panel
centre lower along with side matching.
However, the provision of hook is not enough for maintaining side gap and level
difference control. Thus, the available provision can only restrict the movement
in longitudinal direction of car not in transverse and vertical direction. This
leads to degradation in aestheticness. Moreover the hook causes difficulty in
the part assembly.
In view of the above, the present invention proposes an assembly of cover
instrument panel driver/assistant driver side and ornament instrument panel
centre lower in automobile so as to address the forementioned issues.

Another object of this invention is to propose an assembly of cover instrument
panel driver/assistant driver side and ornament instrument panel centre lower
in automobile which maintains required side gap between ornament
instrument panel centre lower and cover instrument panel driver/ assistant
driver side.
Further object of this invention is to propose an assembly of cover instrument
panel driver/assistant driver side and ornament instrument panel centre lower
in automobile which maintains the level difference and controls relative motion
between ornament instrument panel centre lower and cover instrument panel
driver/assistant driver side.
Yet another object of this invention is to propose an assembly of cover
instrument panel driver/assistant driver side and ornament instrument panel
centre lower in automobile which facilitates the assembly.
SUMMARY OF INVENTION
According to this invention there is provided an assembly of cover instrument
panel driver/ assistant driver side and ornament instrument panel centre lower
in automobile comprising instrument panel centre lower, each mating surface
of which is integrated to a protruded part and snap placed opposite to each
other for engagement with mating surface of instrument panel driver/Assistant
driver side.

DETAIL DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION WITH REFERENCE TO THE
ACCOMPANYING DRAWINGS
The present invention makes disclosure in respect of an assembly of cover
instrument panel driver/ assistant driver side and ornament instrument panel
centre lower in automobile.
-5-
The mating surface of ornament instrument panel centre lower on both sides is
integrated with a protrusion to be snap fitted into a slot of the cover instrument
panel driver/assistant driver side.
The protruded part is positioned at/in proximity Lo one end of the mating
surface, other end of which is having atleast two snaps facing each other. The
snaps are locked by the respective edge of the mating surface of said cover
instrument panel driver/Assistant driver side.
Now, the instant invention will be described in detail hereinunder with
reference to fig. 2 and 3. The mating surface of ornament instrument panel
centre lower (V) is integrated to a protruded part (2') as in fig. 2. This protruded
part is placed at/in proximity to one end of the mating surface such that it is
located at the position nearest to the three adjacent edges.
The protruded part plays role to restrict the movement in longitudinal and
transverse direction of vehicle.
The height (H) of the protruded part is governed by ease of assembly and is
such that, it restricts relative movement between cover instrument panel
driver/ assistant driver side and ornament instrument panel centre lower.
This part (2'), end of which is slopy (S) towards other end (E) of the mating
surface for ease in assembly and also to guide in assembly. The length and
width of the protruded part is according to the opening of a slot (3') in the
mating surface of cover instrument panel driver/assistant driver side (4', 5').
However, the length and width of the part is optimum for a particular variant of
vehicle.

-6-
The slot for accommodating the protruded part upon assembly is also
positioned at/in proximity to one end of mating surface of cover instrument
panel driver/assistant driver side as shown in fig. 3.
Again referring to fig 2, other end (E)of mating surface of the instrument panel
centre lower is integral to two snaps (6') facing each other maintaining a
distance therebetween as shown.
The snaps at/near to the other end are engaged by means of respective edge
(7') of the mating surface of the cover instrument panel driver/assistant driver
side as in fig. 3.
The snaps take part in controlling vertical movement, thereby avoiding gap
between cover instrument panel driver/assistant driver side and ornament
instrument panel centre lower. This maintains aestheticness of vehicle.
Thus, the snaps control side gap and level difference and the protruded part
functions to control relative movement between the centre lower and
driver/assistant driver side.
The protruded part and snaps are devised to be located at/in close proximity to
the extreme end of the mating surface so as to effectively control movement in
longitudinal, transverse and vertical direction of vehicle.
Now reference may be made to fig. 4, 4A, 4B and 4C indicating assembly
between coyer instrument panel driver/assistant driver side and ornament
instrument panel centre lower.
-7-
The cover instrument panel driver/assistant driver side and ornament
instrument panel centre lower, each of which constitutes a single structure and
is made of -preferablyany---polymer- of "plastic |PP) by the method of molding
without restricting scope of the invention to the same. Thus, other materials
and methods readily apparent to a person skilled in the art are understood to,
be within perview of the invention.
Advantageous Features
- Maintains required side gap between ornament instrument panel centre
lower and cover instrument panel driver/assistant driver side.
- Maintains the level difference and controls relative motion between
ornament instrument panel centre lower and cover instrument panel
driver/assistant driver side.
- Ease in assembly.
- Maintains aestheticness of vehicle.
It is to be noted that the present invention is susceptible to modifications,
adaptations and changes by those skilled in the art. Such variant embodiments
