An Assistive Device For Blind Individuals With Personalized Guidance

Abstract: The disabled community encounters various challenges that impact their daily lives, social participation, and overall well-being. The visually impaired people feel miserable when individuals help them in performing regular tasks. The proposed solution offers blind individuals with real-time information about approaching persons. This assistive device is equipped with a camera that captures images (200) of individuals approaching the blind person. These images (200) are processed through advanced deep learning algorithms to determine whether the approaching person is known or unknown. If the person is recognized as known, the device generates a personalized voice note alerting blind individuals of their surroundings. In the alternate scenario, the device provides an immediate voice notification to alert the blind people. It also sends the information about their conversations, GPS (500) location and an image of unknown person to the care taker for security purposes.

Specification

Description:An assistive device for visually impaired individuals comprising a camera configured to capture the image (200) of the person approaching the blind individuals, a deep learning module that receives the captured image and distinguishes between the known and unknown individuals, an audio output (600) module to generate a personalized voice note that informs the user promptly and alerts about the presence of unfamiliar person, a microphone (100) module to record the conversations between visually impaired individuals and unknown persons, a wireless communication module for transmitting the images of unknown individuals, recorded conversations, the GPS (500) location data of visually impaired individuals during interactions and a processor (300) to handle the necessary computations, interface with hardware components, and manage the flow of information in this system. The assistive device of claim 1, wherein a camera is finely tuned to adjust for various lighting conditions, ensuring clarity and detail in the captured images (200). The assistive device of claim 1, wherein the deep learning module employs face recognition technology to determine whether a match is found, thereby categorizing the approaching person as either known or unknown. The assistive device of claim 1, wherein an audio output (600) module generates the personalized voice note informing the blind about the approaching person. The assistive device of claim 3, wherein the deep learning module continuously updates the trained model on feedback received from system regarding the unknown individuals. The assistive device of claim 4, wherein the immediate voice alerts include customizable warning messages based on environmental factors or user preferences. The assistive device of claim 1, wherein caretaker access to transmitted data, including images, GPS (500) location, and recorded conversations, is protected by multi-factor authentication to ensure confidentiality and privacy. The assistive device of claim 1, wherein recorded conversations between the visually impaired user and unknown individuals are securely stored and accessible to designated caretakers for review upon user consent or in emergency situations , Claims:An assistive device for visually impaired individuals comprising a camera configured to capture the image (200) of the person approaching the blind individuals, a deep learning module that receives the captured image and distinguishes between the known and unknown individuals, an audio output (600) module to generate a personalized voice note that informs the user promptly and alerts about the presence of unfamiliar person, a microphone (100) module to record the conversations between visually impaired individuals and unknown persons, a wireless communication module for transmitting the images of unknown individuals, recorded conversations, the GPS (500) location data of visually impaired individuals during interactions and a processor (300) to handle the necessary computations, interface with hardware components, and manage the flow of information in this system.
