Specification

DESC:FIELD OF THE INVENTION:
This invention relates to the field of mechanical engineering.

Particularly, this invention relates to an automated blanket covering mechanism for a bed.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION:
A blanket is a type of bedding. It is, generally speaking, a large piece of woven cloth, intended to keep the user warm, especially while sleeping or lying down. A blanket traps the radiant heat from the user's body, and instead of dissipating into the air, it warms the user. It also protects against cold carried by convection.

Wearing a blanket is a cumbersome procedure. Making a bed with the blanket on it is an even more cumbersome manual procedure. In hotels and lodges, a lot of manpower is employed in making beds with neatly tucked blankets to make the room usable and nice for a guest.

There is a need to a mechanism which automates this process for covering a user with a blanket or for convering a bed with a blanket.

OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION:
An object of the invention is to automate the process of wearing a blanket on a bed.

Another object of the invention is to provide temperature control to a blanket’s use on a bed.

Yet another object of the invention is to provide time control to a blanket’s use on a bed.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION:
According to this invention, there is provided an automatet blanket covering mechanism for a bed, said mechanism comprising:
- guide rails provided on bed edges;
- a blanket provided with a coupling mechanism to be coupled to said guide rails so that is can slide operatively upwards and operatively downwards with respect to axis of said bed in order to cover the bed along with a user on said bed or to uncover from said bed along with a user on said bed;
- an actuation mechanism used to cover and uncover said blanket based on reaching pre-desired temperature, sensed pressure, time limit, as pre-defined by a user; and
- a roller drum may be provided, at end of the bed, over which blanket can be rolled and folded with a motor which rotates it to fold and unfold blanket.

Typically, said mechanism comprising a pressure sensor which is communicably coupled to said actuation mechanism.

Typically, said mechanism comprising a motor is calibrated and configured to drive said mechanism.

Typically, said guide rails being be provided parallel to said bed.

Typically, said guide rails being be provided parallel to said bed, characterised in that, said guide rollers receiving signals from other sensors as configured by said system.

Typically, said guide rails guide actuators that hold said blanket.

Typically, said mechanism comprising a limit switch which stops an actuator and releases said blanket.

Typically, said mechanism comprising a timer coupled to said coupling mechanism and guide rails in order to time the covering and uncovering of the blanket.

Typically, said mechanism comprising a temperature sensor provided to the blanket in order to provide temperature control to the blanket.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE ACCOMPANYING DRAWINGS
The invention will now be described in relation to the accompanying drawings, in which:

Figure 1 illustrates a front view of the mechanism of this invention;

Figure 2 illustrates a top view of the mechanism of this invention;

Figure 3 illustrates a schematic view of the guide roller of the mechanism of this invention;

Figure 4 illustrates a flow diagram of the operation of this invention; and

Figure 5 illustrates a block diagram of the components of this invention.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE ACCOMPANYING DRAWINGS:
For the purposes of the invention, the term, “blanket”, is meant to include any clothing used by a user on a bed for the purposes of keeping the user warm.

According to this invention, there is provided an automatet blanket covering mechanism for a bed.

The mechanism consists of the normal bed, blanket, cover, blanket holding pipe, crank, motors, sensors, clips for holding blanket, limit switches, guide rollers, relays. The mechanism is meant for patients and children who cannot use their hands for covering their body.

Figure 1 illustrates a front view of the mechanism of this invention.

Figure 2 illustrates a top view of the mechanism of this invention.

Figure 3 illustrates a schematic view of the guide roller of the mechanism of this invention.

In accordance with an embodiment of this invention, there is provided a pressure sensor (S1) which is communicably coupled to an actuation mechanism. As soon as a person rests on the bed using this invention, the pressure sensor senses pressure signal and sends an actuation command to the actuation mechanism of this invention. A motor (M1) is calibrated and configured to drive this mechanism.

In accordance with an embodiment of this invention, guide rails or a guide mechanism (GR) may be provided on bed edges. A blanket is also provided with a coupling mechanism to be coupled to the guide rails or the guide mechanism so that is can slide operatively upwards and operatively downwards with respect to the axis of the bed in order to cover the bed along with a user on the bed or to uncover from the bed along with a user on the bed.

In at leats an embodiment, a roller drum may be provided, at end of the bed, over which blanket can be rolled and folded with a motor which rotates it to fold and unfold blanket.

Typically, these guide rails or guide rollers (GR) may be provided parallel to the bed. The guide rollers may receive signals from other sensors (S1, S2, S3, S4) as configured by this system.

The guide rollers guide the actuators that hold the blanket. At the end there is a limit switch which will stop the actuator and release the blanket. The actuator will return at idle position once the person is covered by the blanket.

In accordance with another embodiment of this invention, a timer (S2) may be coupled to the coupling mechanism and guide rails or guide rollers in order to time the covering and uncovering of the blanket.

In accordance with yet another embodiment of this invention, a temperature sensor (S3) or temperature controller may be provided to the blanket in order to provide temperature control to the blanket. Thus, a wearer or user of the blanket may adjust required temperatures associated with use of the blanket to ensure appropriate warmth. When the pre-set temperature or time reaches, the sensor will give the signals to the pipe and clip holding the blanket. Motor (M1, M2) will start and through the crank and gear mechanism the blanket will start moving towards the person.

In at least one embodiment, the actuation mechanism may be used to cover and uncover the blanket based on reaching pre-desired temperature and / or time, as can be pre-defined by a user.

While this detailed description has disclosed certain specific embodiments for illustrative purposes, various modifications will be apparent to those skilled in the art which do not constitute departures from the spirit and scope of the invention as defined in the following claims, and it is to be distinctly understood that the foregoing descriptive matter is to be interpreted merely as illustrative of the invention and not as a limitation.
