Present invention relates to an automated system for assisting person of medical needs, to remember their medication dosage timely, alerting about changes in health parameters, and also for recording health parameters for dispersal to medical professionals.
Background of Invention:
Lot of work has been carried out in the field of virtual medical assistance. Health monitoring mechanical assistants at home and hospitals are essential in helping patients to remember their medication dosage at the right time, alert them about taking medical advice, taking notes etc. Voice based virtual assistants are helping the patients to save cost of in-house caretaker, adhere medication, and more. They train the patients about a procedure, offer health advices of the in accordance to their past health issues, and take care of related information to improve suggestions and experience.
The system assistant for health monitoring for old age person with the context based system to invoke the voice based assistance to remind the old persons will be of great help to reduce the complete dependency of the caretakers. The ontology need to be build up for the patient history and the recommended procedures to be followed by their physician/consultant.
US5612869 discloses an electronic health care compliance assistance system which includes a user device and a host station used by a health care provider. The user device generates voice messages to remind a user when and how to take or refill prescribed medications, to attend to other health matters, and to keep doctors' appointments. Compressed digital speech is used to generate clear and natural sounding voice messages. A health care provider uses the host station to compose messages and to store a database of speech messages and related data. Data are transferred from the host station to the user device to generate a regimen that is customized for the user. Furthermore, the user device may include a clock for determining a present time, and the programmed controller includes a timer for detecting correspondence between a predetermined medication scheduling time in the user file and a present time, and for controlling the speech generator to generate a speech message corresponding to the predetermined scheduling time upon detection of the correspondence.
US20050086082 discloses a portable health assistant which transmits information between patient and health care provider. By communicating with the computer server, the portable health assistant can receive order updates from the clinician and transmit information collected from the patient to the server for review by the clinician. The clinician can review the patient information and issue orders modifying the patient's treatment regimen at the server itself or from a remote Web browser in communication with the server. The server can also send alerts to the clinician if the server determines that the patient data merits special attention from the clinician.
US20060183980 discloses a system for monitoring user’s body temperature and transfer any abnormal changes to a long range monitoring station for analysis. When any values are in the abnormal range, the frequency of follow ups will increase and continuously increase to more effectively gather vital information. When the user experiences certain abnormalities, the system will give warning and suggestions to the user or signal for medical personnel located at the long range monitoring station to give assistance. For example, if the user remains in a certain improper position for too long, the system will inform the user to correct his/her posture. Also, when the user experiences rising blood pressure, difficulty breathing, increased heart rate or dramatic temperature change, the system will warn the user and alert the medical personnel located at the long range monitoring station for help.

Present invention relates to a system a system for medical assistance to a patient in need, wherein said system comprises of a vending device for dispensing drugs with counted dosage; a wearable device(s) for measuring health parameters of the patient; wherein the vending device and the wearable device are in communication with each other; wherein the vending device has an inference engine comprising a neuro-fuzzy Controller which accepts crisp inputs, converts and maps them onto fuzzy variables, performs fuzzification and defuzzification and generates an inference correlating with most appropriate action to be taken. The inference engine is built by ontology of the patients. The construction of ontology’s for the discovery of Web of Things (WoT) uniquely finds out the devices based on the patient history. As shown in Figure 1, Input is provided to a fuzzification interface 101 which is further transmitted to fuzzy interface engine 102. The inputs may be from fuzzy set database 103 or fuzzy rule base 104. The fuzzy inference engine 102 then goes through defuzzification 105 before transmitting the output.
The controller determines the time and dosage of dispensing drugs. The system is capable of alarming a registered guardian or emergency services through an electronic device when the health parameters are out of a medical prescribed range.
The Inference engine built with the help of ontology that recommends the virtual assistant to help the old age people/patients is unique and provides better precision and accuracy while calculating the dosage. Because of the neuro-fuzzy controller, the processing will be close to the human reasoning process and actions suggested and taken will be human-like for effective results.
The wearable devices can be selected from a selection of health monitoring sensors, such as thermometer, heart rate sensors, ECG monitors, or any kind of a health parameter recording sensor. The vending device and the wearable device communicate through a wireless system such as Bluetooth.
According to an aspect of the invention, the inference engine can be constructed using an alternate knowledge based system like expert system. The architecture can be extended using the concepts of distributed system.
