The vehicle body frame (106) comprises a pair of first frame members (106a), at least one first battery support crossbar (302), one or more second battery support crossbar (304a, 304b), and a main frame (116). A battery case (502) disposed in between the main frame (116) and below a seat (118). The battery case (502) comprises at least two portions (516), the at least two portions (516) comprises a first portion (506) and a second portion (508). The first portion (506) positioned frontward relative to the second portion (508). The first portion (506) has smaller width than the second portion (508). The first portion (506) supported by the at least one first battery support crossbar (302) and the second portion (508) supported by the one or more second battery support crossbar (304a, 304b).

[0001] The present invention relates to a two-wheeled electric vehicle and more particularly, to a battery case of the two-wheeled electric vehicle.
BACKGROUND
[0002] A two-wheeled electric vehicle comprises an electric motor powered by a battery, and a rear wheel driven by the electric motor. Range of an electric vehicle is influenced by capacity of the battery installed. The distance that the electric vehicle can travel on a single charge can be made longer in proportion to an increase in capacity of the battery. Therefore, it is recommended to make the size of the battery bigger in order to increase the battery capacity and hence, the range of the electric vehicle.
[0003] Generally, in the two wheeled electric vehicles, the battery is positioned below a foot board on which a rider places his/her feet. If the size of the battery is increased in vehicle up-down direction, then battery structure is required to be extended in the downward direction or the position of a seat is required to be heightened in accordance with the position of the foot board. In a former scenario, it impairs ground clearance of the vehicle and in a later scenario, it impairs an easy touchdown of driver's feet on the ground when the vehicle is stopped.
[0004] Further, conventionally, the battery is also positioned under the seat, but
due the conventional structural shape of a battery case and the battery capacity as desired is not achieved and therefore, the range required is compromised.
[0005] Thus, it is not easy to enlarge the battery disposed below floor board without impairing the ride quality of the vehicle and its easy handling.

SUMMARY OF INVENTION
[0006] An object of the present invention is to provide a battery mounting
arrangement which shortened the height of the vehicle in up-down direction and to accommodate an electric motor below a seat which also allows an increased space in accommodation box positioned below the seat.
[0007] Another object of the present invention is to provide a battery support
mounting structure for a two-wheeled electric vehicle which provides better rigidity to the frame.
[0008] Yet another object of the present invention is to provide a removable cover's outer profile such that it matches with the inner surface profile of the seat.
[0009] Yet another object of the present invention is to provide the two-wheeled electric vehicle capable of enlarging a battery that is a heavy component disposed below a seat without impairing the ride quality of the vehicle and it's easy to handle and without increasing the overall length and height of the vehicle.
[00010] The present invention disclosed a two-wheeled electric vehicle. The two-wheeled electric vehicle comprising a front wheel supported by a vehicle body frame, the vehicle body frame comprises a head tube and a down tube, the down tube extends rearwardly & downwardly from the head tube, a pair of first frame members supported by the down tube and extending substantially in the vehicle front-rear direction (Fr-Rr), a main frame coupled to the pair of first frame members, wherein the main frame comprises: a pair of second frame members extending rearwardly and upwardly from the pair of first frame members, at least one first battery support crossbar disposed in vehicle width direction (L-R) and supported by the pair of second frame members, a pair of third frame members extending rearwardly from the second frame members, at least one third crossbar disposed between and supported by the pair of third frame members, and one or more second battery support crossbar disposed in width direction of the vehicle and supported by the main frame, wherein the at least one first battery

support crossbar is lower than the one or more second battery support crossbar in vehicle up-down direction; a seat supported by the vehicle body frame; and at least one battery having at least one electrical cell for providing electric power to at least one electric motor, wherein the at least one battery disposed in a battery case and the battery case disposed in between the main frame and below the seat, wherein the battery case comprises at least two portions, the at least two portions comprises a first portion and a second portion, wherein the first portion positioned frontward relative to the second portion, wherein the first portion has smaller width than the second portion, wherein the first portion disposed and supported by the at least one first battery support crossbar and the second portion disposed and supported by the one or more second battery support crossbar. In an embodiment, a transmission cover which may act as a swing unit and it includes the electric motor and the electric motor may be disposed below the third frame parts; and a rear wheel is driven by the electric motor.

[00036] The present invention disclosed a two-wheeled electric vehicle. The two-
wheeled electric vehicle comprising a front wheel supported by a vehicle body frame.
The vehicle body frame comprises a head tube, a down tube, a pair of first frame
5 members and a main frame. The head tube is positioned in front portion of the vehicle.
The main frame is positioned in rear portion of the vehicle. The main frame constituted as a seat frame of the vehicle. The down tube extends rearwardly & downwardly from the head tube. The pair of first frame members supported by the down tube and extending substantially in the vehicle front-rear direction (Fr-Rr).

frame members. The main frame further comprises: a pair of second frame members extending rearwardly and upwardly from the pair of first frame members. At least one first battery support crossbar disposed in vehicle width direction (L-R) and supported by the pair of second frame members. A pair of third frame members extending
15 rearwardly from the second frame members. At least one third crossbar disposed
between and supported by the pair of third frame members. And one or more second battery support crossbar disposed in width direction of the vehicle and supported by the main frame. The at least one first battery support crossbar is lower than the one or more second battery support crossbar in vehicle up-down direction.

supported by the main frame. At least one battery having at least one electrical cell for providing electric power to at least one electric motor. The at least one battery disposed in a battery case. relative to the second portion and the first portion has smaller width than the second portion. This first portion disposed and supported by the at least one first battery support crossbar whereas the second portion disposed and supported by the one or more second battery support crossbar.

[00039] In an embodiment, a transmission cover which may act as a swing unit
and it includes the electric motor and the electric motor may be disposed below the pair of third frame members and a rear wheel is driven by an output of the electric motor.
5 [00040] FIGURE 1 illustrates a two-wheeled electric vehicle (100) in accordance
with the present invention. The two wheeled electric vehicle (100) comprises a front wheel (110), a vehicle body frame (106), a rear wheel (112), an electric motor (104), a battery (108), a charger unit (202, refer figure 2) and a vehicle body cover (102). In the two-wheeled electric vehicle (100), the rear wheel (112) is driven by an output
10 produced by the electric motor (104) and the electric motor (not shown, refer figure
2) is driven by electric power supplied from the battery (108). In an embodiment, a transmission case (114) acting as a swing arm includes the electric motor (not shown, refer figure 2). The front wheel (110) supported by the vehicle body frame (106). The vehicle body cover (102) surrounds the vehicle body frame (106). In an embodiment,
15 a floor board (120) provided between a head tube (204) and a main frame (116). The
floor board (120) constituted over the pair of first frame members (106a). A seat (118) is supported by the vehicle body frame (106), particularly over the main frame (116). The handle bar (3) is pivotally mounted on the vehicle body frame (106). The handle bar (3) is configured to be rotated by a rider to steer the vehicle (100). The front wheel
20 (110) is operatively connected to the handle bar (3). The front wheel (110) is in front
portion of the vehicle (100) and the rear wheel (112) is in rear portion of the vehicle (100). Further, front portion of the vehicle (100) may comprise the headlight assembly (102a). In an embodiment, the rear portion of the vehicle (100) may comprise a suspension assembly (123) and a tail light (104a). A leg shield (102c) that protects legs
25 of a rider is provided on the front side. A centre frame cover (4) is provided behind the
leg shield (102c). A centre cover (4) is provided below the front portion of the seat (118). A side frame cover (104) that covers a vehicle side surface is provided behind the centre frame cover (4). A tail light (104a) and a rear fender (111) are provided at a rear portion of the side frame cover (104).

[00041] The dotted lines in FIGURE 1 represents the vehicle body frame (106)
and the battery (108). The vehicle body frame (106) is explained in detail with respect
to figure 3 of this description later in the current disclosure and the battery (108) along
with its battery case structure (502) has been described in detail in the figures 4, 5, 6
5 and 7. It may be noted that the two wheeled electric vehicle (100) is shown to have
include above stated parts; however, those skilled in the art would appreciate that the two wheeled vehicle (100) includes other parts which may not be relevant for explaining the present invention and hence are not shown and described.
[00042] FIGURE 2 illustrates a side of the two-wheeled electric vehicle (100)
10 from that body cover has been detached, in accordance with the present invention. In
embodiment, the charger unit (202) is mounted on the head tube (204) of the electric vehicle. The transmission case (114) acting as a swing arm includes the electric motor (104). In an embodiment, the electric motor (104) disposed below the main frame (116). At least one battery (108) comprises a battery case (502) and at least one
15 electrical cell (not shown, refer figure 5) disposed inside of the battery case (502). In
an embodiment, at least one battery (108) having at least one electrical cell (504) for providing electric power to at least one electric motor (104) disposed inside of the battery case (502). In an embodiment, the battery case (502) is rigidly coupled to the vehicle body frame (106). The at least one battery (108) along with its battery case
20 (502) disposed in between the main frame (116) and below the seat (118). In another
embodiment, the battery case (502) disposed in front portion of the main frame (116) and below the front portion of the seat (118). In an embodiment, the battery (108) may be provide with a suitable cell configuration and packaging to deliver a desirable power to the electric motor (104). In an embodiment, the charger unit (202) is
25 intermediary electrically connected with an external power supply and the battery
(108). In another embodiment, the charger unit (202) takes an alternative current input from the external power supply (not shown) and converts it to direct current to charge the battery (108).

[00043] FIGURE 3 illustrates a perspective view of the vehicle body frame (106)
of the two-wheeled electric vehicle (100), in accordance with the present invention.
The vehicle body frame (106) comprises a head tube (204), a down tube (206), a pair
of first frame members (106a), at least one first battery support crossbar (302), one or
5 more second battery support crossbar (304a, 304b), and a main frame (116). The head
tube (204) is provided in the front portion of the vehicle (100). The down tube (206)
extends rearwardly & downwardly from the head tube (204). The pair of first frame
members (106a) supported by the down tube (206) and extending substantially in the
vehicle front-rear direction (Fr-Rr). The at least one first battery support crossbar (302)
10 and one or more second battery support crossbar (304a, 304b) in combination support
the battery case (502, refer figure 2).
[00044] The main frame (116) coupled to the pair of first frame members (106a)
and extents rearwardly from the pair of first frame members (106a). In an embodiment, the pair of first frame members (106a) comprises a left first frame member (106ab)
15 and a right first frame member (106ac). The main frame (116) comprises a pair of
second frame members (106b) and a pair of third frame members (106c). The pair of second frame members (106b) extending rearwardly and upwardly from the pair of first frame members (106a). The pair of second frame members (106b) comprises a left second frame member (106bb) and a right second frame member (106bc). At least
20 one first battery support crossbar (302) disposed in vehicle width direction (L-R) and
supported by the pair of second frame members (106b) of the main frame (116). The at least one first battery support crossbar (302) disposed with a plate (302a) like structure to support the battery case (502). In an embodiment, the plate (302a) comprises plurality of engaging means (302b) to engage the battery case rigidly with
25 the vehicle body frame (106). In another embodiment, the engaging means (302b) may
be holes provided in the plate (302a) like structure. In still another embodiment, the engaging means (320b) may be provided to rigidly engage the battery case (502) with a help of a screw and a bolt arrangement. The pair of third frame members (106c) extending rearwardly from the second frame members (106b). The pair of third frame

members (106c) comprises a left third frame member (106cb) and a right third frame member (106cc).
[00045] At least one third crossbar (308) disposed between and supported by the
pair of third frame members (106c). In an embodiment, a bracket (318) disposed over
5 the at least one third crossbar (308) disposed for accommodating a seat latch (not
shown). In another embodiment, one or more additional brackets (322a, 322b)
disposed over the at least one third crossbar (308) for rigidly attaching an
accommodation box (not shown) with the vehicle body frame (106). In still another
embodiment, the accommodation box is place in between the pair of third frame

304b) placed in between the pair of the second frame member (106b). more second battery support crossbar (304a, 304b) comprises an intermediate member (306c) placed substantially horizontally in vehicle width direction and supported through at least two support sub-frame members (306a, 306b) projected from the main frame (116) in the downward direction. The one or more second battery support

crossbar (304a, 304b) disposed with a plate (304c) like structure to support the battery
case (502). In an embodiment, the plate (304c) comprises plurality of engaging means
(320b) to engage the battery case rigidly with the vehicle body frame (106). In another
embodiment, the engaging means (320b) may be holes provided over the plate (302a).
5 In still another embodiment, the engaging means (320b) may be provided to rigidly
engage the battery case (502) with a help of a screw and a bolt arrangement.
[00048] In another embodiment, the left member of the pair of first frame
members (106a) and the left member of the pair of second frame members (106b) are
continuous parts of the vehicle body frame (106). Similarly, the right member of the
10 pair first frame members (106a) and the right member of the pair of the second frame
members (106b) are continuous member of the vehicle body frame (106).
[00049] In embodiment, the vehicle body frame (106) is formed by use of a steel-
made pipe member or a like. In another embodiment, the vehicle body frame (106) is
formed of an alloy material having an equivalent strength or more strength than of the

exemplary battery case (502) of the electric two-wheeled vehicle (100). Here, Figure 4 illustrates an isometric view of the battery case (502). The battery case (502) comprises at least two portions (516). The at least two portions (516) comprises a first
20 portion (506) and a second portion (508). In an embodiment, the first portion (506)
positioned frontward relative to the second portion (508). In same embodiment, the first portion (506) has smaller width than the second portion (508). The first portion (506) disposed and supported by the at least one first battery support crossbar (302) and the second portion (508) disposed and supported by the one or more second
25 battery support crossbar (304a, 304b). The second portion (508) also provided with at
least one accommodation section (510). In an embodiment, the at least one accommodation section (510) provided in rear portion of the second portion (508). This accommodation section (510) may be utilized for holding tools of the vehicle (100) or alike type of articles. This accommodation section (510) increases

accommodation space for storing the desired tools or articles without compromising on battery capacity.
[00051] The plurality of front engaging members (518a, 518b) are provided on
front end of the base surface (108e) of the first portion of the battery case (502).
5 Similarly, the plurality of rear engaging members (512a, 512b, 512c, 512d) provided
on base surface (108d) of the second portion of the battery case (502). The plurality
of front engaging members (518a, 518b) engages with the engaging means (302b)
provided in the plate (302a) like structure disposed over the at least one first battery
support crossbar (302) supported in between the main frame (116). And the plurality
10 of rear engaging members (512a, 512b, 512c, 512d) engages with the plurality of
engaging means (320b) provided in the plate (304ca) like structure disposed over the one or more second battery support crossbars (304) supports in between the main frame (116). A seat hinge (514) about which seat (118) closes and opens is integrally molded on a front vertical surface (108a) of the battery case (502).
15 [00052] FIGURE 5 illustrates an isometric view of the battery (108) of the two-
wheeled electric vehicle (100). The battery (108) comprises the battery case (502) and the at least one electric cell (504) is disposed inside the battery case (502) to provide electric power to at least one electric motor (104, refer figure 2).
[00053] FIGURE 6 illustrate a side view of the battery case (502) of the two-
20 wheeled electric vehicle (100). The plurality of engaging members (518a, 518b), only
one engaging member (518b) visible in side view, provided on front end of the base
surface (108d) of the battery case (502). In an embodiment, a removable cover (602)
for covering the top opening of the battery case (502) is provided. This removable
cover helps in keeping the battery (108) safe from the outside environment. In another
25 embodiment, a handle (604) also provided on the removable cover member (602) to
lift the cover member (602).
[00054] Figure 7 illustrates a bottom view of the battery case (502) of the two-
wheeled electric vehicle (100). As described above, the plurality of front engaging

members (518a, 518b) are provided on front end of the base surface (108e) of the first
portion of the battery case (502). Similarly, the plurality of rear engaging members
(512a, 512b, 512c, 512d) provided on base surface (108d) of the second portion of the
battery case (502). At least one front engaging member (512a, 512b) of the rear
5 engaging members (512a, 512b, 512c, 512d) disposed on a bottom surface (108d,
108e) a vertical side surface (108c, refer figure 4) where intersection of the first
portion (506) of the battery case (502) and the second portion (508) of the battery case
(502) joined. At least one rear engaging member (512c, 512d) of the rear engaging
members (512a, 512b, 512c, 512d) disposed on a bottom surface (108d) of a rear
10 portion of the second portion of the battery case (502).
[00055] The battery case (502) preferably made up of any type resin material. In
an embodiment, the battery case may be made up of any type of metal such as aluminum. In another embodiment, the battery case may be made up of poly vinyl chloride.
15 [00056] In the light of the foregoing, the present invention provides advantage
that a battery mounting arrangement which shortened the height of the vehicle in up-down direction. Another advantage achieved through the present invention is that the electric motor is disposed under the main frame and below a seat. This allowed an increased space in the accommodation box positioned below the seat. Another
20 advantage achieved through the present invention is that the two-wheeled electric
vehicle capable of enlarging the battery capacity, that is a heavy component, disposed below a seat without impairing the ride quality of the vehicle and handling of the vehicle is also increased, and this is achieved without increasing the overall length and height of the vehicle. Yet another advantage associated with the present invention is
25 that as the battery which is quire heavy is positioned below the seat and in the middle
of the vehicle’s front rear direction, the center of gravity is maintained in the middle of the vehicle.
[00057] Although the present invention has been described in considerable detail
with reference to certain preferred embodiments and examples thereof, other

Even though numerous characteristics and advantages of the present invention have been set forth in the foregoing description, together with functional and procedural details, the disclosure is illustrative only, and changes may be made in detail, especially in terms of the procedural steps within the principles of the invention to the full extent indicated by the broad general meaning of the terms. Thus, various modifications are possible of the presently disclosed system and process without deviating from the intended scope and spirit of the present invention. Accordingly, in one embodiment, such modifications of the presently disclosed system and method are included in the scope of the present invention.

We Claim:

A two-wheeled electric vehicle (100) comprising:
a front wheel (110) supported by a vehicle body frame (106), the vehicle body frame (106) comprises:
a head tube (204) and a down tube (206), the down tube (206) extends rearwardly & downwardly from the head tube (204), a pair of first frame members (106a) supported by the down tube (206) and extending substantially in the vehicle front-rear direction,
a main frame (116) coupled to the pair of first frame members (106a), wherein the main frame (116) comprises:
a pair of second frame members (106b) extending rearwardly and upwardly from the pair of first frame members (106a),
at least one first battery support crossbar (302) disposed in vehicle width direction and supported by the pair of second frame members (106b), a pair of third frame members (106c) extending rearwardly from the second frame members(106b), at least one third crossbar (308) disposed between and supported by the pair of third frame members (106c), and
one or more second battery support crossbar (304a, 304b) disposed in width direction of the vehicle (100) and supported by the main frame (116), wherein the at least one first battery support crossbar (302) is lower than the one or more second battery support crossbar (304a, 304b) in vehicle up-down direction; a seat (118) supported by the vehicle body frame (106); and

at least one battery (108) having at least one electrical cell (506) for providing electric power to at least one electric motor (104) and at least one electrical cell (504) disposed inside a battery case (502), wherein the battery case (502) disposed in between the main frame (116) and below the seat (118), wherein the battery case (502) comprises at least two portions (516), the at least two portions (516) comprises a first portion (506) and a second portion (508), wherein the first portion (506) positioned frontward relative to the second portion (508), wherein the first portion (506) has smaller width than the second portion (508), wherein the first portion (506) disposed and supported by the at least one first battery support crossbar (302) and the second portion (508) disposed and supported by the one or more second battery support crossbar (304a, 304b).
The two-wheeled electric vehicle (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the second portion (508) also provided with at least one accommodation section (510).
The two-wheeled electric vehicle (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein a seat hinge (514) about which seat (118) to close and open integrally molded on a front vertical surface (108a) of the battery case (502).
The two-wheeled electric vehicle (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the one or more second battery support crossbar (304a, 304b) disposed with a plate (304c) to support the battery case (502).
The two-wheeled electric vehicle (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the at least one first battery support crossbar (302) disposed with a plate (302a) like structure to support the battery case (502).

The two-wheeled electric vehicle (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein a removable cover (602) for covering the top opening of the battery case (502).
The two-wheeled electric vehicle (100) as claimed in claim 6, wherein a handle (604) provided on the cover member (602) to lift the cover member (602).
The two-wheeled electric vehicle (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the battery case (502) made up of polyvinyl chloride (PVC).
The two-wheeled electric vehicle (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the at least one cross member (304b) of the one or more second battery support crossbar (304a, 304b) comprises an intermediate member (306c) placed substantially horizontally in vehicle width direction and supported through at least two support sub-frame members (306a, 306b) projected from the main frame (116) in the downward direction.
'. The two-wheeled electric vehicle (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the at least one third crossbar (308) disposed with a bracket (318) for accommodating a seat latch.
