PREAMBLE TO THE DESCRIPTION
The following specification particularly describes the nature of this invention and the manner in which it is to be performed.
FIELD OF INVENTION:
This invention relates to the Held of transformers.
Particularly, this invention relates to an improved bellow for transformers.
BACKGROUND OF INVENTION:
A bellow is a device used for passing controlled quantity of any substance such as air, gas, oil and the like, to a controlled location in a pressurized condition. Bellow is a deformablc container having an output nozzle, a separate inlet, and valves or flaps to ensure that the entry is guided through inlet and exit only through outlet. The shape of bellow varies depending on the internal pressure condition. If the pressure inside bellow-increases. the bellow will expand, and if pressure decreases, it will come to its normal shape.
Bellow plays a vital role in the construction of transformers. In transformers, where oil is used bellows arc used to maintain the oil pressure inside the transformer. Typical construction of a bellow in case of transformers is spring shaped made up of stainless steel. Teflon and the
like. Due to its shape, the bellow has a flexible movement of expansion and contraction with the change in pressure.
In transformers, bellows are mounted on the top jilong with oil reservoir. The oil pressure is maintained with the expansion and contraction of the bellow. Bellows, in transformer, are in compact closed shape and the oil level inside the bellow is not visible from outside. Further with the shape of the bellow, the oil pressure inside the bellow c'an be identified. At the time of installation, the end user can only observe the shape of the bellow-to identify the pressure level.
The oil level inside the transformer is very important as to create pressure and to regulate the smooth working of the transformer. Therefore, it: is important to maintain the oil level inside the bellow. Due to the closed structure it is difficult to observe the oil level. Further the lack of oil up to a defined oil level leads to failure in transformer.
To overcome the disadvantages mentioned here and several other, an improved bellow for transformer is disclosed herewith.
OBJECTS OF INVENTION:
An object of the invention is to provide an improved bellow for transformer, which bellow provides a visible access to observe the oil level inside the transformer.
Another object of the invention is to provide an improved bellow for transformer, which bellow provides a means to identify the decrease in oil level.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION:
According to this invention, there is provided an improved bellow, with indicating means, being mounted over an oil tank having oil and adapted to be fitted within a transformer, for indicating oil level along with maintaining oil pressure, said bellow with indicating means comprises:
a) oil housing adapted to store oil within said transformer;
b) bellow adapted to be placed over said oil housing and further adapted to receive oil from said oil housing;
c) bellow lop plate adapted to define an upper limit for containing said oil within said bellow;
d) cylindrical chamber adapted to be axially fitted beneath said top plate of said bellow to be immersed in said oil of said oil housing;
e) float means adapted to 11 oat over said oil in said chamber;
f) float window adapted to show float on oil lo indicate oil level in said transformer.
Typically, said cylindrical chamber is a float housing
Typically, said cylindrical chamber is transparent.
Typically, said float means is visible through said cylindrical chamber.
Preferably, said cylindrical chamber may be calibrated to depict readings of quantity of said oil.
Typically, a housing encloses said bellow.
Typically, a housing with a window encloses said bellow, said window adapted to provide visibility to view said float.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE ACCOMPANYING DRAWINGS:
Figure 1 illustrates a front view of the bellow without indicating means according to the prior art.
The invention will now be described in relation to the accompanying drawings, in which:
Figure 2 illustrates a front view of the indicator means along with bellow; and
Figure 3 illustrates an auxiliary cross-section view of the indicator means along with bellow.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE ACCOMPANYING DRAWINGS:
Figure 1 illustrates a front view of the bellow without indicating means according to the prior art.
According to the prior art, Figure 1 illustrates a bellow (10) adapted to be Fitted over an oil tank (20) containing oil (30). There is provided a bellow
top plale (40) for containing oil. A bellow cap (50) covers the bellow. A window (60) in the bellow cap is provided to look at the level of oil.
Figure 2 illustrates a front view of the indicator means along with bellow: and
Figure 3 illustrates an auxiliary cross-section view of the indicator means along with bellow.
In accordance with the invention, there is provided an improved bellow (100) for a transformer with an easy access to observe the oil level further with an additional means to identify the decrease in the oil level. This easy access is by means of an indicating means.
In accordance with the invention, there is provided a bellow mounted over an oil tank (J 10) with a primary terminal and connector. The oil tank contains oil for use in a transformer device.
In accordance with an embodiment of this invention, there is provided a bellow (130) adapted to be placed over said oil housing and adapted to receive oil from said oil housing.
Typically, the oil tank with the bellow is placed over the porcelain bushing.
In accordance with another embodiment of this invention, there is provided a bellow top plate (140) adapted to contain oil in said bellow.
The proposed bellow is provided with a glass window on the top of the 13clIow top plate.
In accordance with another embodiment of this invention, there is provided a cylindrical chamber (150) adapted to be axially fitted beneath said top plate of said bellow to be immersed in said oil of said oil housing. Typically, this chamber is a float housing.
The float housing contains a float (160). which floats over the oil present inside the bellow.
The construction of the proposed bellow is such that in case of required oil level the float will touch the glass window present on the top plate. The float assembly touching the glass window gives an indication to the end user that the required oil level is met. In case- of decrease in the oil level, the float assembly will be visible from the glass window and the
distance between the float assembly and the top plate gives the exact value of the decrease in the level of the oil.
In accordance with yet another embodiment of this invention, there is provided a float window (190) adapted to show position of float and indicate level of oil. thereby.
Typically, a housing (170) encloses said bellow.
There is provided a housing with a window (180) which encloses said bellow, said window adapted to provide visibility to view said float.
The construction of the bellow is simple and it can be implemented in any existing transformer with bellow arrangement.. The flexibility of implementation makes the invention more users friendly. The advantage drawn by proposed arrangement not only improves the smooth functioning of the transformer but also reduces the failure rate of the transformer,
We claim:
