FIELD OF INVENTION
This invention relates to an improved cylinder head for prevention of oil
seepage through exhaust manifold mounting hole.
PRIOR ART
Presently, Exhaust manifold mounting holes open into Pushrod hole. In certain
variants, where the operating pressures are high, due to the resistance created
by blow-by gas for the return oil from cylinder head top, this oil tends to enter
into this mounting hole and starts seeping through the studs.
To avoid this leakage, the mounting hole needs to be provided as a blind hole,
which requires modifications in the following:-
1. Cylinder Head - Modification ca exhaust manifold mounting pad, which
has an impact on the casting.
2. Exhaust Manifold - New casting
3. Tractor Layout
All these changes have direct impact on the overall cost making it expensive.
Hence, the present invention has been proposed, which is cost effective and
efficient.
OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION
The primary object of the present invention is to provide an improved cylinder
head for prevention of oil seepage through exhaust manifold mounting hole
which overcomes disadvantages associated with the prior art.
-3-
Another object of the present invention is to provide an improved cylinder head
for prevention of oil seepage through exhaust manifold mounting hole which
avoids seepage of oil through exhaust manifold mounting hole.
Further object of the present invention is to provide an improved cylinder head
for prevention of oil seepage through exhaust manifold mounting hole which is
efficient and reliable.
At the outset of the description, which follows, it is to be understood that the
ensuing description only illustrates a particular form of this invention.
However, such a particular form is only an exemplary embodiment, without
intending to imply any limitation on the scope of this invention. Accordingly,
the description is to be understood as an exemplary embodiment and teaching
of the invention and not intended to be taken restrictively.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
According to this invention, there is provided an improved cylinder head for
prevention of oil seepage through exhaust manifold mounting hole comprising
of a hole for push rod in cylinder head wherein a plurality of steps are provided
in the hole to avoid seepage of oil through exhaust manifold mounting hole.
Features of the present invention
a) It ensures provision of blind hole for exhaust manifold mounting studs,
thus completely preventing the oil seepage through these studs.
b) It also ensures enough operating clearances between pushrod and push
rod hole in both static and dynamic conditions.
-4-
c) It further does not have any impact on all related casting components
and vehicle layout.
d) It has a very mInImum cost impact due to additional machining
requirement
