PREAMBLE TO THE DESCRIPTION
The following specification describes the invention
This invention relates to improved fan cover for TEFC (Totally Enclosed Fan Cooled) Motor to reduce the noise level by 3 to 5 dBA (Particularly 160Fr to 400Fr 2P 60Hz motors)
In prior art various types fan covers are available with different types of motors like open (Drip Proof) Type or TEFC (Totally Enclosed Fan Cooled) construction.
In conventional fan cover of TEFC construction motors air inlet is provided directly next to rotating fan blade. This leads to direct interaction of air inlet with rotating blades, there by creating higher noise levels. This is more predominant in 2 pole, 60Hz (3600 RPM) motors. This invention relates to new unique fan cover, which directs the air to reduce noise level by 3 to 5dBA.
An object of the invention is to provide an improved fan cover for TEFC (Totally Enclosed Fan Cooled) Motor to reduce noise level.
Another object of the invention is to provide an improved fan cover for TEFC (Totally Enclosed Fan Cooled) Motor to reduce noise level without affecting temperature rise (Thermal Performance) of motor.
Another object of the invention is to provide an improved fan cover for TEFC (Totally Enclosed Fan Cooled) Motor to reduce noise level with ease of production.
Another object of the invention is to provide an improved fan cover for TEFC (Totally Enclosed Fan Cooled) Motor to reduce noise level within the same overall length of motor.
Another object of the invention is to provide an improved fan cover for TEFC (Totally Enclosed Fan Cooled) Motor to reduce noise level cost effective solution.
These invention addresses the requirement of reduced noise level by (3 to 5 dBA) compared to existing noise level. This is achieved by creating barrier between noise level measuring instrument & noise generating source.
In accordance to the present invention, improved fan cover for TEFC (Totally Enclosed Fan Cooled) Motor is designed. This fan cover has opening at top & bottom portion of fan cover.
In accordance to the present invention, there is no direct contact of inlet air with rotating blades.
In accordance to the present invention, there is barrier created between noise creator (rotating blades) & noise measuring probe of noise level meter. Normally noise level probe is held at 1 meter distance from motor in all 4 directions horizontally & average noise level is considered.
In accordance to the present invention, new fan cover is cost effective solution.
In accordance to the present invention, new fan cover is production friendly and made up of sheet metal.
In accordance to the present invention, fan cover is dimensionally same as of standard design.
