Abstract: This invention relates to an improved front seat back for creating scoop in automotive seating to increase leg room and enhance aesthetics comprising of a seat back frame in contact with PU Pad in the front integrated with wires for clamping wherein the seat is covered by means of a trim including scoop area, generating additional leg space.
FIELD OF INVENTION
This invention relates to an improved front seat back for creating scoop in automotive seating to increase leg room and enhance aesthetics.
BACKGROUND AND PRIOR ART OF THE INVENTION
In a passenger car scoop has been provided in the front seat back of driver and co-driver seat. Maximum available space of rear seat
passenger is limited by the back surface of the front seat pad.
In case of compact passenger cars with length in the range of 3200-3500 mm, front seats are provided with flexibility of both linear as well as angular adjustment. Therefore, both driver and co-driver are always at ease depending on the individual's weight, height and above all customized seating taste.
In most cases with no arrangement of adjustment in any manner, rear seat passengers always fall on the compromised side of comfortable seating.
In the known art scoop in front seat back is provided by two methods.
According to the first method, the provision is made by welding of sheet metal element to the seat back frame wherein trim is hoggered on to the element and trim opening is closed with a zipper.
According to second method, plastic cover or plastic bead snapping trim on to sheet metal with clips.
However, the above said conventional methods are associated with drawbacks. They are not only costly, but also failed to fully utilize maximum available space.
OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION
The primary object of the present invention is to propose an improved front seat back for creating scoop in automotive seating to increase leg room and enhance aesthetics which overcomes disadvantages associated with the known arts.
Another object of the present invention is to propose an improved front seat back for creating scoop in automotive seating to increase leg room and enhance aesthetics which is cost effective.
Further object of the present invention is to propose an improved front seat back for creating scoop in automotive seating to increase leg room and enhance aesthetics which is simple in construction and efficient.
Yet another object of the present invention is to propose an improved front seat back, assembly of which is easy.
Still another object of the present invention is to propose an improved front seat back for creating scoop in automotive seating to increase leg room and enhance aesthetics, which enhances the comfort level.
STATEMENT OF INVENTION
According to this invention, there is provided an improved front seat back for creating scoop in automotive seating to increase leg room and enhance aesthetics comprising of a seat back frame in contact with PU Pad in the front integrated with wires for clamping wherein the seat is covered by means of a trim including scoop area, generating additional leg space.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
This invention provides an improved front seat back for creating scoop in automotive seating to increase leg room and enhance aesthetics comprising of a pre moulded pad for seat with wire integrated thereto at lower and upper portion for hoggering the trim.
Thus, the present invention does not require additional element like Zipper and Clips in frame or covering material for purpose of assembly, thereby reducing material, cost, processing and assembly time.
Further, the instant invention makes utilization of maximum available space for creating scoop.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE ACCOMPANYING DRAWINGS
Further objects and advantages of this invention will be more apparent
from the ensuing description when read in conjunction with the accompanying drawings and wherein:
Fig. 1) shows Isometric view of the present invention
Fig. 2) shows frame of the present invention.
Fig. 3) shows insert wire back upper and insert wire back lower location.
Fig.4) shows side view of the present invention.
Fig.5) shows hoggering wire inserted in the trim.
Fig.6) shows C ring grooves at the back for scoop.
Fig.7) shows top and bottom trim stitched with scoop carpet.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION WITH REFERENCE TO THE ACCOMPANYING DRAWINGS:
The present invention discloses an improved front seat back as shown in Figure. 1.
As shown in the figure 2, the seat comprising of a wire mesh frame with PU pad in the front integrated with wire in the upper and lower portion as shown in figure 3 for hoggering the back portion. However, the PU pad is also provided with wire as per the requirement for clamping the front part of the seat as shown in the Fig. 4.
Further, the seat with pad and frame is covered by means of a cover/trim which is preferably made of PVC.
The trim is in contact with the A-surface as shown in fig. 1 and constrained to stay with B-surface with the help of hoggering on the insert wire upper and insert wire lower. In between the trim remains in contact with B-surface under tension created between the upper and lower insert wires.
Trim in contact with B-surface also makes contact with wiremesh of the back frame. That makes the surface feel uncomfortable. To overcome this difficulty, automotive grade non-woven backing with PVC covering is used to take care for better feel.
Therefore, the scoop portion is provided with two layers stitched together with PVC on the top wherein the bottom layer comprises of non woven.
Reference may be made to figure.7. Hoggering wire is inserted into the trim/cover (as shown in fig. 5) so as to hold the scoop in which the wire is sealed/linked with the respective wire of the PU pad. The scoop carpet and trim is integrated with the whole trim.
The provision of the carpet gives a soft feeling while hitting. Thus, it increases safety. Further, it enhances aesthetic value of the seat in comparison to the prior arts. With the above provision, the Present Invention generates extra leg space of atleast 30+3mm enhancing the comfort level.
Again, a plurality of C-ring grooves are provided at the back for scoop (fig.6).
In most of the known arts, scoop in front seat back is generally achieved by two methods 1) by sheet metal element welded to the seat back frame. Trim is then hoggered on to that element and trim opening is then closed with a zipper 2) plastic cover or plastic bead snapping trim on to sheet metal with clips. However, in the Present Invention said trim is directly hoggered to wires pre-molded to seat PU pad.
Advantageous features;
Apart from effectively creating more space, the Present Invention has the following advantages over the prior arts.
1) No additional element (zipper and clips eliminated) used in frame or in covering material for assembly purpose; thereby reducing material, cost, processing and assembly time.
2) Utilization of maximum available space for creating scoop.
It is to be noted that the present invention is susceptible to modifications, adaptations and changes by those skilled in the art. Such variant embodiments employing the concepts and features of this invention are intended to be within the scope of the present invention, which is further set forth under the following claims:-
