BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
The following, describes some non-limiting preferred embodiments of the present
invention, with reference to the accompanying drawings as detailed aforesaid.
As can be seen from Fig 1, according to a preferred embodiment of the present
invention, the improved jewel case assembly comprises a central jaw (3), incorporated
on the base (1), and fused therewith so as to form a single unit. The base(1), may be
specially designed to prevent any dust. There may be provided specially designed ribs
along the top circumference of the base, for the purpose of avoiding scratches on the
discs.
Fig 1 (a) illustrates the critical area(4) of the central jaw (3), illustrated in Fig 1 . This is

the part which holds the discs. This center jaw is further divided into a plurality of flexible flanges, which sustain two or discs tightly, such that that if the Jewel Case is inverted the discs do not fall with their own weight. The number of flanges may be five in number and is not limited to this number. Fig 2 illustrates the jewel case, in accordance with the invention, where two discs(5) are hold together. Fig 3 illustrates specially designed base(6) of the jewel case of the present invention, for the purpose of preventing dust.
Generally, the Jewel Case assemblies known in the art consists of three pats viz. a bottom, a lid and a tray. It is only the tray, which sustains the disc in the center hub. The present invention embraces the idea, that if the center hub/jaw (holding arrangement) is incorporated on the bottom part itself,.a full part and the related processes is eliminated. Moreover, the space so generated, is utilized for placing two or more extra discs .No specific prior art of this nature existed. According to the present invention, the two-part design with three discs, have been proposed for the first time, instead of three-part design with one disc. The undercuts in the mold were specially designed with an optimum draft angle for the ease of ejection and to qualify all the quality parameters in terms of endurance and runability.
As stated before, the primary objective of the present invention is to develop a low cost two part jewel case that will sustain two or more discs within it . To achieve the above objective, the tray and the bottom part of the jewel case were fused together, to get an all new component - the bottom with the center jaw. Moreover, the height of the center hub was increased to accommodate two or more discs in the same case. For this purpose, the whole design of the center jaw was reviewed and all the draft angles and undercuts were redesigned with an eye on the mold manufacturing ease, so that there may not arise any problem while ejection.
Following are some of the advantages achieved:
a) Design of the new Bottom part (Fig.1) with a specially designed center jaw

which is capable to accommodate 2 CDs (Fig.2) without any change in the outer dimensions.
b) Development of the mold for the above design.
c)Design reviews to remove the obstacles to make the mold fit for production. d)Design modified (Fig 3) to avoid the dust to enter in the Jewel Case, resulting in damage of the case. e)Change in the mold unlike the conventional designs, f) )Quality checking of the samples with proper validation and verification.
The present invention has been described with reference to some drawings and preferred embodiments, purely for the sake of understanding and not by way of any limitation and the present invention includes all legitimate developments within the scope of what has been described hereinbefore and what has been claimed hereinafter.
