Specification

FIELD OF THE INVENTION
This invention relates to textile spinning and twisting machine. More particularly this invention relates to an improved lubrication arrangement for the screw rod adopted to drive the arrangement for raising and lowering of the gripper beam of the auto doffer to faciiitate the exchange of cops on the spindle with conical tube.
BACKGROUND ART
The usage of ring spinning machines for the production of yarn is known. Normally the ring spinning machine comprises a spindle rail to carry predetermined number of spindles arranged at predetermined pitch arranged on both side of the machine. The conical tubes on which the yarn is wound are fitted to the spindles and driven by suitable drive means. Ring rails arranged coaxial to the spindle rail and carries spinning ring and traveller assembly of same number and pitch as that of spindle. The ring rails further provided with means for travel up and down in a direction traverse to the spindle axis for the built up of yarn on to the conical tubes attached to the revolving spindles.
Roving bobbins of equal number as that of the spindles are arranged in a creel member attached to the ring spinning machine for the introduction of roving into the drafting arrangement through suitable guide means and drafted .The drafted roving is subsequently wound on the conical tubes attached to the revolving spindles by the ring and ring traveller assembly and the cop built up takes place.
The drafting arrangement is normally provided with plurality of bottom drafting rollers driven by suitable drive means. Guide arms attached to the drafting system rotatably support the top rollers as well as apply the required drafting pressure to the drafting rollers through suitable means. Soon after the conical tubes are filled with predetermined length of yarn , the spindles are stopped and the cop is replaced with empty conical tubes and the machine is subsequently re started.

Modern ring spinning machines are constructed with spindles in the order up to 1200. Replacing of the cop with empty conical tubes normally known as doffing and manual doffing of such large number of spindles requires more man power and time consuming. Modern Ring Spinning machines employ auto doffers in which plurality of conical tubes are arranged along the row of spindles so that each conical tube is positioned in front of respective spindle, and the full bobbins othenwise known as cops on the spindle are exchanged with conical tube.
The gripper of the auto doffer engage with the cops / conical tubes mounted on the spindles movable between an upper and a lower position and a scissor linkage pivoted on the frame and the scissor linkage is extendable for raising the gripper beam and collapsible for lowering the gripper beam. The linkage has a pair of arms both of which have lower ends, one of which is long and has an upper end pivoted on the beam and the other of which is short and has an upper end pivoted on the long arm below the beam. One of the lower ends is pivoted on and fixed against longitudinal movement on an abutment. A guide is longitudinally displaceable on the frame and the other lower end is pivoted on it. A screw rod is operably connected to the guide and the rotation of the screw rod displaces the guide there by scissor linkage is extendable for raising the gripper beam and collapsible for lowering the gripper beam . The screw rod is drivingly connected and driven by suitable drive means.
Normally the greasing of the screw rod is done manually at regular intervals of time . Also invariably the grease spills out of the screw rod and gets deposited on entire length of the screw rod drive of the doffer beam. This results in dust, flies and fluffs getting accumulated on the screw rod resulting in wear of screw rod due to insufficient lubrication.
OBJECT OF THE INVENTION:
It is an object of the invention to provide a means for effective greasing of the screw rod .
It is another object of the invention to provide a means which will extend the

life of the grease applied.
It Is another object of the invention to provide provides a system containing a greasing cover and a sweeping ring arrangement over the screw rod.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS:
Figure-1 schematically illustrates the gripper beam actuating arrangement.
Figure-2 schematically illustrates the portion marked as 'S' in figure 1 - the screw rod drive arrangement according to the invention.
Figure-3 schematically illustrates the driven bush employed in the screw rod drive arrangement according to the invention.
Figure-4 schematically illustrates the sweeping ring assembly employed in the screw rod drive arrangement according to the invention.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION
Bearing housings(1) being provided to rotatably support the driven member(2) in anti friction bearings . The bearing housing is mounted on the support member (3). While the Inner ring of the anti friction bearings being mounted on the shoulder portion (2b) of the driven member (2) the outer ring of the anti friction bearings being mounted on the bearing housings(1).The bearing covers (4) being provided to retain the anti friction bearings in the bearing housings(1). The driven member (2) being provided with a profile portion (2a) corresponding to the profile provided on the drive member which is attached to the drive that transmits rotary motion to the driven member (2) through suitable transmission element . The profile adopted for the transmission of rotary motion may be for example chain sprocket , toothed wheel suitable for chain drive and toothed belt drive. The driven member (2) being provided with a threaded hole (2c) arranged coaxial to the profile portion (2a) . The profile and size of threaded hole(2c) corresponds to the profile and size of the screw rod(5).

One side of the shoulder portion (2b) of the driven member (2) extended out side of the bearing housings(l). A sweeping ring assembly (6) provided with a passage opening suitable for mounting over the shoulder portion(2b). The sweeping ring assembly (6) being further provided with the sweeping member (6b) which protrude from the radial face and the axial face of the sweeping ring (6a) . The sweeping member (6b) being permanently fitted to the sweeping ring (6a) by suitable means such as welding, brazing and riveting. The sweeping ring assembly (6) being rigidly connected to the driven member (2) by suitable means for example by the fastening means(7). The housing (8)adjoins the driven member (2) and fitted on the bearing cover (2) at least on one side of the driven member (2) and being provided to enclose the sweeping ring assembly (6) and provided with pocket for holding pre determined quantity of grease. At least one lubricating nozzle(g) is attached to the housing (8) facilitates the pumping of the lubricant, for example the grease
The screw rod (5) and the driven member (2) being drivingly connected each other to transmit the rotary motion delivered by the driven member(2) to the screw rod (5) for lifting and lowering of the gripper beam (10) attached to the scissor linkage(11). The rotation of the screw rod (5) displaces the guide (12) there by the scissor linkage (11) is extendable for raising the gripper beam (13) or collapsible for lowering the gripper beam(13) .
WORKING OF THE INVENTION
At the time when the screw rod (5) is driven by the driven member (2) for lifting or lowering of the gripper beam (10),the sweeping ring (6a) attached to the driven member (2) also rotates along with the driven member (2). The sweeping member (6b) causes the grease packed in the housing (8) to circulate, there by the grease is applied to the threads of the screw rod(5). Since the greasing chamber is enclosed fully the grease is always retained within the chamber and not spilled out. Also the grease Is preserved free from dust and other impurities which results in the proper lubrication of the screw rod .
