An Improved Method Of Synthesising A Molecule Called Satranidazole And The Product Thereof

Abstract: AN IMPROVED METHOD OF SYNTHESISING A MOLECULE CALLED SATRANIDAZOLE AND THE PRODUCT THEREOF COMPRISING THE FOLLOWING: An improved method for the synthesis of 1-Methyl-2-mercaptoimidazole, an intermediate for Satranidazole is prepared from N-Methylaminoacetaldehyde dimethyl acetal containing water upto 40% wt/wt and in situ it is further converted to get 1-Methyl-2-(ethylmercapto)-imidazole and the product thereof. The medium of reaction is aqueous. A method claims to prepare 1-Methyl-2-(ethylmercapto)-5-nitromidazole in solid and fairly pure state without using any organic solvent for isolation and purification and the product thereof. A method wherein the synthesis of 1-Methyl-2-(ethylsulphonyl)-5-nitroimidazole, a usage of ethylene dichloride as comparatively high boiling solvent insteadof methylene chloride or ether. The slow addition of 30% hydrogen peroxide to reaction mixture at 40˚- 45˚C for safe and smooth reaction and the product thereof. A method wherein the synthesis of Satranidazole claims usage of sodium hydroxide powder instead of sodium hydride as condensing agent and the product thereof. The elimination of organic solvent for the purification of Satranidazole.
