FIELD OF INVENTION
This invention relates to an improved muffler to reduce shell radiating noise for
agricultural tractors.
BACKGROUND/PRIOR ART
As it is known, the agricultural tractors arc required 10 satisfy strict noise
emissions and also need to meet the customer expectations towards noise
levels. In order to meet the demand there is a need to reduce the exhaust noise.
Majority of tractor mufflers are made up of sheet metal, which generates shell
radiating noise when high pressure fluctuations of exhaust gases inserted into
muffler. The existing muffler comprising of a hollow cylinder body (expansion
chamber) closed at each end. Expansion chamber consists of two perforated
pipe (P) joined at the middle of the chamber (C) as shown in fig-1.
However, none of the prior art suggests new mufflers comprising of sound
damping materials to attenuate sound waves thereby reducing shell radiating
noise for agricultural tractors.
Thus, there is a need for an exhaust muffler that can reduce the shell radiating
noise without increasing back pressure and adversely affecting its operation
OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION
Tine primary object of the present invention is to provide an improved muffler
for agricultural tractors which overcomes disadvantages associated with the
prior art(s) by reducing the shell noise radiating from existing muffler without
sacrificing the desired operation of muffler.
Still another object of the present invention is to provide an improved muffler
for agricultural tractors which provides more strength to outer shell of muffler
Yet another object of the present invention is to provide an improved muffler for
agricultural tractors which reduces the vibration at outer shell of muffler body
and structural noise from the shell.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
According to this invention, there is provided an improved muffler to reduce
shell radiating noise for agricultural tractors comprising of an expansion
chamber closed at both ends with a perforated pipe through each of said ends,
which are joined at the middle of the chamber, in which said expansion
chamber is provided with double layered outer wall with a gap therebetween
filled with damping material.

ensuing description when read in conjunction with the accompanying drawings

The present invention is directed to an improved muffler for agricultural
tractors.
Now, reference may be made to fig. 2, wherein the novel muffler of present
invention comprising of an expansion chamber (1) having double layered outer
wail (2) maintaining a gap therebetween. The gap is rilled with damping
materia! to reduce the shell radiating noise.
The chamber is a cylindrical body closed at each end. As shown in figure 2, a
perforated tube (3) is provided through each end of the chamber. Said pipes (3)
are joined at the middle of the chamber. The pipes arc disposed longitudinally
through the chamber.
