ORIGINAL
FIELD OF INVENTION
[001] The present application is a patent of addition to an earlier Indian Patent Application
No. 1104/DEL/20I4 (hereinafter referred to as parent application) filed on April 23, 2014.
The present invention relates to caps. More particularly, the present invention relates to an
improved peel-off cap seal that is easily peeled off by applying minimum force.
BACKGROUND OF INVENTION
[002] As mentioned hereinbefore the present application is for an invention which is a
patent of addition to the earlier filed Indian patent application of application number
II04/DEL/20I4 (hereinafter referred to as parent application) filed on April 23, 2014 by the
present inventor.
[003] The peel-off cap seal provided by the above mentioned parent application needed
improvement. The peel-off cap seal of the parent application experienced the problems of
relatively lesser temper resistance and applying excess force for peeling the peel-off cap seal
by a hand of a user. It is therefore necessary to make modifications to the peel-off cap seal of
the parent application.
[004] The inventor of the above mentioned patent application observed that providing
improvements in the peel-off cap seal would reduce the amount of force required to peel the
peel-off cap seal by hand of a user as compared to the parent application.
SUMMARY
[005] The present invention relates to an improved peel-off cap seal that is easily peeled off
by applying minimum force.
[006] In an embodiment of the present invention, a peel-off cap seal includes a base, two or
more members having a corresponding first end and a corresponding second end, the
corresponding first ends are coupled to the base and the corresponding second ends are
angularly curved, a first semi cut line provided radially in between the base and the two or
more members, two or more second semi cut lines for axially coupling the two or more
members. The corresponding second ends of the two or more members are pulled
downwards, thereby peeling the two or more members along the two or more second semi cut
lines and the first semi cut line.
[007| In another embodiment of the present invention, a peel-off cap seal includes a base,
two or more members having a corresponding first end and a corresponding second end, the
corresponding first ends are coupled to the base and the corresponding second ends are
angularly curved, a first semi cut line provided radially in between the base and the two or
more members, two or more gaps for axially separating the two or more members. The
corresponding second ends of the two or more members are pulled downwards, thereby
peeling the two or more members along the two or more gaps and the first semi cut line.
|008] The base and the two or more members are made of materials including, but not
limited to, plastic materials such as an acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS), a high density
poly-ethylene (HDPE), a high density poly-propylene (HDPP), a low density poly-ethylene
(LDPE), a low density poly-propylene (LDPP) and any other plastic material. In addition,
non-plastic materials such as Aluminum or any other metal may be used.
|009] One advantage of the present invention is that peeling off the peel-off cap seal by
using the present invention as opposed to the parent application is easy and quick.
[010] Another advantage of the present invention is the presence of two or more second
semi cut lines for coupling the two or more members. The force required for peeling off the
peel-off cap seal along the two or more second semi cut lines is minimal as compared to two
or more flaps along with two or more corresponding segments and two or more intermediate
structures of the parent application.
[Oil] Yet another advantage of the present invention is the presence of two or more gaps for
separating the two or more members. The force required for peeling off the peel-off cap seal
along the two or more gaps is minimal as compared to two or more flaps along with two or
more corresponding segments and two or more intermediate structures of the parent
application.
[012] Yet another advantage of the present invention is the presence of one or more
connectors on the corresponding second ends of the two or more members for connecting the
corresponding second ends and providing improved tamper resistance.

of one or more components or elements that are part of the present invention.
[034] it should be understood that the term "cap" as mentioned herein generally refers to a
protective lid or a cover for an object, such as bottle.
[035] The present invention relates to a pee I-off cap seal (100) that is provided to seal a
neck and a mouth of a bottle. The bottle may be of different shapes and sizes, preferably, an
alcohol bottle. The alcohol bottle may be of but not limited to, whiskey, beer and wine. The
mouth of the bottle may be in shape of, but not limited to, a circle, a square, an oval, a
rectangle, a trapezoid, and a polygon. The peel-off cap seal is in a shape selected from, but
not limited to, a circle, a square, an oval, a rectangle, a trapezoid and a polygon.
[036] The peel-off cap seal (100) includes a base (105). The base (105) is made of materials
including, but not limited to, plastic materials such as an acrylonitrile butadiene styrene
(ABS), a high density poly-ethylene (HOPE), a high density poly-propylene (HDPP), a low
density poly-ethylene (LDPE), a low density poly-propylene (LDPP) and other plastic
material, in addition, non-plastic materials such as Aluminium or any other metal may be
used. In addition, the peel-off cap seal (100) has one or more projections (145) on an internal
5
surface of the base (105) for providing grip on the neck of the bottle. Such projections (145)
and other mechanisms for fixing the peel-off cap seal (100) are known to a person skilled in
the art and are not described in full here for sake of brevity.
[037] The peel-off cap seal (100) includes two or more members (110) having a

members (110) are axially separated by two or more gaps (135). In order to open the bottle,
the corresponding second ends (120) of the two or more members (110) are pulled resulting
in axial peeling of the two or more members (110) along the two or more second semi cut
lines (130) or along the two or more gaps (135). The axial peeling of the two or more
members (110) weakens the adherence of the two or more members (110) along a first semi
cut line (125) and consequently breaking the two or more members (110) along the first semi
cut line (125) and revealing the bottle cap (150).
[045] FIG. 1 illustrates an operation of peeling off the peel-off cap seal (100) in accordance
with an embodiment of the present invention. In order to peel the peel-off cap seal (100), the
corresponding second ends (120) of the two or more members (110) are pulled downwards as
depicted by arrows (160). Due to the presence of two or more second semi cut lines (130)
joining the two or more members (110), the amount offeree required to peel the two or more
members (110) is minimal as compared to peeling off two or more flaps along with two or
more corresponding segments and two or more intermediate structures of the parent
application. Once the two or more members (110) are torn along the two or more second semi
cut lines (130), the adherence of the two or more members (110) along the first semi cut line
(125) also weakens. The two or more members (110) can thereafter be torn apart easily via
the first semi-cut line (125) by peeling action. This would reveal a bottle cap (150) which in
turn is rotated and unscrewed to reveal the mouth of the bottle.
[046] FIG. 2 illustrates an operation of peeling off the peel-off cap seal (100) in accordance
with another embodiment of the present invention. In order to peel the peel-off cap seal
(100), the corresponding second ends (120) of the two or more members (110) are pulled
downwards as depicted by arrows (160). Due to the presence of two or more gaps (135)
separating the two or more members (110), the amount of force required to peel the two or
more members (110) is minimal as compared to peeling off two or more flaps along with two
or more corresponding segments and two or more intermediate structures of the parent
application. Once the two or more members (110) are pulled down along the two or more
gaps (135), the one or more connectors (140) are broken and the adherence of the two or
more members (110) along the first semi cut line (125) also weakens. The two or more
members (110) can thereafter be torn apart easily via the first semi-cut line (125) by peeling
action. This would reveal a bottle cap (150) which in turn is rotated and unscrewed to reveal
the mouth of the bottle.
