The present invention relates to an improved process for the preparation of compound to be used as such in sheet form for coating on articles such as fabrics or papers to obtain articles having improved properties particularly for chemical resistance, outstanding weatherability, resistance to embrittlement and flexibility at a low temperature. The said process comprises blending ethylene octene copolymer having comonomer content of 15 to 35%, ethylene octene copolymer having comonomer content of 30 to 50%, poly butadiene rubber and paraffin oil at a temperature of 90 to 130 °C in a mixing mill for a period of 15 to 60 minutes to obtain the final compound.
