An Improved Process For The Preparation Of 1 Naphthylamine 2 Sulphonic Acid & Its Salts.

Abstract: An improved process for the preparation of 1-Naphthyl amine 2-sulphonic acid and its salts comprising the steps of heating the 1-Naphthyl amine 4 sulphonic acid salts with an alkali metal bi-carbonate in a solvent comprising a mixture of diphenyl ether and diphenyl at a temperature of 190-250C wherein the 1-Naphthyl amine 4 sulphonic acid salts are chosen from the group of alkali metals like sodium and potassium and the alkali metal bicarbonate chosen from the group consisting of sodium and potassium, further wherein the solvent used is selected from diphenyl ether and diphenyl mixture in various proportions from 100 to 60% of the former and 0-40% of the latter.
